Sydney city home in historic Rocks

Apartment - Private room · Kent St, Millers Point, NSW 2000, Australia

The Space

Welcome!

I live in The Rocks, Sydney’s oldest and most central neighbourhood. Stunningly beautiful, it is minutes from both the Sydney Central Business District ('CBD') and Sydney Harbour.

The apartment is spacious and very comfortable. It is close to :
- The restaurants and old pubs of The Rocks (5 mins walk)
- Harbour bridge climb (5 mins walk)
- Sydney CBD (10 mins walk)
- Circular Quay (15 mins walk)
- The Sydney Opera House (20 mins walk)
- Darling Harbour (20 mins walk)
- Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) (10 mins walk)

The Apartment
The apartment is spacious and on two levels. It is a lovely 100 year old building with modern bathroom and kitchen. The main living room, kitchen, courtyard and one toilet are downstairs. Upstairs are the two bedrooms, a second living room, the main bathroom and a balcony. The balcony is off your room and has views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the city skyline.

The room is clean with crisp white cotton sheets on the double bed, clean towels, hanging space and drawers. There is free unlimited wifi, full kitchen facilities, a tv, dvd, ipod doc and hair dryer. Free use of laundry front load washer.

Breakfast foods are supplied (cereal, muesli, toast, coffee, tea), to be prepared by yourself, as you like. There is also a café right outside the front door with good coffee if you’d like something more.

A Truly Spectacular Part of Sydney
The Rocks is Australia’s oldest neighbourhood, being the original location of the British penal colony. It became a thriving maritime area during the 19th and 20th Centuries. Many of the original houses, pubs and shops are still standing. These days it is a charming, leafy neighbourhood right on the doorstep of the city and all of it’s attractions, including nearby restaurants and bars. Sydney’s oldest pub, The Lord Nelson, is our local where they brew their own beer on site and serve up a great meal too. Take a stroll through the cobblestone laneways of The Rocks or up to the park in nearby Observatory Hill and take in the great view of the harbour!
It’s also a lovely spot to come home and get away for the pace of the city. Wander around the streets and try not to fall in love with this place.

Public Transport
If you’re not much into walking, there is a bus stop 50 metres away with regular buses to the CBD, Town Hall Station and Central Railway Station. Hailing a taxi from my front door is easy and takes no time at all for one to come past. To get to and from the airport there is the regular Airport Link train leaving from Circular Quay station or a taxi takes about 25 mins (depending on traffic).

I’ll provide you with keys and there’s easy (and secure) access, so you can come and go as you please. You won’t get your bed made on a daily basis while you stay, as your room is your own space with your privacy respected.

Check in time is 6pm. The upside to this is that I can be flexible with check out times. We may be able to arrange a bag drop / check in earlier, but we need to make those arrangements well in advance. So, if the 6pm check in time isn’t your preference, please talk to me about it before you make your reservation.

If you have a baby, I can provide a portable cot for a total cost of AU$30. This is additional to house rental price and you would need to advise me beforehand of your requirement.

  • We selected Lachlan's place in part because of his connection to my home state, Pennsylvania. His home is lovely with a terrific view of the Harbor Bridge, comfortable sleeping quarters, cozy balconies, and a terrifc location. Circular Quay, Harbor Bridge, Darling Harbor, shopping, and restaurants are an easy five to twenty minute walk. Although our time in Sydney was limited, Lachlan provided helpful suggestions for maximizing our stay. We regret not having more time to spend with him as his schedule was fairly busy.

Bottom line: a GREAT place to stay!!

  • Staying with Lachlan was very easy as he is a very relaxed, helpfull and thrustfull person. He was also very considerate to our young baby. The flat is perfect to discover beautiful Sydney by foot. Only 10 walking minutes from Cirqular Quay. We recommend the airport train to get there, it's fast and not to expensive. Taxi from the airport cost us about 80 AUD. The room has a nice view to the Harbour Bridge from the balcony, a very comfortable bed and was absolutely clean. We can recommend Lachlan's room without any doubt.

  • Lachlan's apartment is well located in an atmospheric historic area of Sydney. Great for a first time visit to the city. The apartment itself is exactly as I expected - comfortable, clean, and nicely furnished.

Although Lachlan and I only met briefly, he was a fine host. Flexible with arrival and departure arrangements, quick to respond to messages (in advance of my stay and indeed after I had arrived), and welcoming.

  • My stay at Lachlan's home was pleasant. A combination of a pleasant host, close proximity to the city, and a excellent level on amenity are the makings of a positive experience. I would surely stay again.

  • We had a great time staying with Lachlan, he was a gracious and helpful host. The house is located in a handy position, walking distance to the rocks, circular quay, subway, restaurants, shopping. You can hail a cab on the doorstep and grab coffee and breakfast at the corner café. His home is spacious, clean and tidy with lovely décor. There is plenty of space in the guest room to unpack all your gear and really make yourself at home. We loved sitting out on the veranda in the sunshine watching the world go by. Lachlan gave us plenty of helpful hints on where to eat out and interesting things to do. We really enjoyed his company when we saw him. We would highly recommend to others and would definitely visit again.

  • Very comfortable bed. Airy room and wonderful space on adjoining verandah for morning yoga or viewing the harbour bridge. Easy going and welcoming host. Great location within walking distance for all our activities over the weekend. Ideal location for visitors not familiar with what Sydney has to offer.

  • We had a great time staying with Lachlan ,his place in The Rocks is central and walking distance to everywhere ,spotlessly clean , welcoming and close to transport.
We didn't see Lachlan much but when we did we enjoyed talking to him .We will definitely stay here again when passing through Sydney.

  • We had a great time in Lachlan's place. The location of the house is perfect. Easy to find and in walking distance to all the places you'd want to see in central Sydney. the house itself was just as shown in the photos on the website- well-designed, very clean, and really comfortable. Lachlan was nice and welcoming, so it's unfortunate that we only had a very short time to actually spend with him! We'd definitely want to stay here again next time we're in Sydney. Thanks Lachlan!

  • Had a fantastic time in Sydney and Lachlan's place is so well located within the "Rocks" area. Lachlan is very laid back as a host and was very accommodating and easy going. We made ourselves at home as requested which made our stay all the more enjoyable. We would definately recommend his place to anyone wishing to see Sydney without the hassle of extra travel!

  • What a fantastic location for seeing Sydney! We really focused on the Rocks and Circular Quay and walked everywhere. Our fave restaurant was a few feet from our front door. We only saw Lachlan a few times, but his friend Tim was very helpful. Overall, a great experience.
