Cute little back yard "granny flat" cottage located near Mt Tabor park in very desirable neighborhood! The cottage is "Portland Style" construction with excellent insulation (R30), new windows, etc.. Great host, free internet, parking, furnished living space that is quite private.. I absolutely love to cook (growing up my parents owned a restaurant), and a made to order hot breakfast is included! Menu items range from hot breakfast panini sandwiches, homemade biscuits, Lisa's secret-recipe-fried potatoes, and much more!
The cottage contains an upstairs bedroom & sitting area. Note: There are stairs, so please take that into account if you have joint pain, etc... The full size mattress is new and comfortable. Downstairs there is a small kitchen with stove, microwave and under the counter fridge. Also downstairs is a full bath with ceramic tile shower. Coffee maker and freshly ground coffee provided in the cottage. Guests are welcome to use washer/dryer in main house
Guests have use of the back yard with fruit trees, fire pit in the center, and some berries when in season.
Just down the street there is a community built outdoor pizza oven made of tile and cob. Also there is a covered cob bench. We built these for public use and community gathering. Also the cottage is within walking distance of Division street shops, Pizzicato pizza, and many food carts including the much loved "Los Gorditos" food cart which was written up in Bon Apetit magazine.
The # 4 bus is just a block and a half away, which can take passengers west directly downtown or east toward the Max line (Portland's light rail).
1) If you have a pet, PLEASE be sure it has been treated within the last 10 days with"Advantage" flea treatment!!! This is important, thank you very much for your understanding. Also clean up after pets in yard, as needed .
2) We have awesome neighbors and have never had any difficulties with them with street parking, but as a courtesy to them, we ask that cottage guests please park in our driveway or in front of our house (not in front of neighbor's houses) thank you!!!!
2) Of course, only smoke outdoors, and dispose of cigarettes properly, thanks!
We loved our stay at the South Tabor cottage. Lisa and her family were lovely hosts and made us feel welcome right from the start. The cottage was clean and tidy and we loved having the fridge and kitchen area! And, Lisa's breakfast menu was amazing! The eggs benedict were fabulous and it was so relaxing to wake up and enjoy her cooking. Fantastic!
The cottage is so cozy and we loved the windows upstairs. They let in so much light and we enjoyed reading and relaxing with a coffee in this beautiful neighbourhood.
The cottage is near many places to eat and enjoy good coffee. We went for daily walks with our dog to the off leash park at Tabor mountain so this was a perfect location for us. We loved being away from downtown and more in the neighbourhoods of Portland where it was quieter and better for our dog. Great stay!
First of all, Lisa was the perfect host! I didn't see her at all except for when she delivered the most AMAZING breakfasts to my door! She's super friendly and very responsive. The cottage was also perfect for me. She has utilized the small space very well, but it is a cozy space. While the stairs weren't an issue for me, it should be emphasized that the stairs are steep, so just be aware. The location is great, and there's a really great coffee shop just 2-3 blocks away.
I really only have great things to say about both the host and the cottage, but the more positive feedback I leave, the more you'll be convinced to stay here, and then she'll never have openings for me to book a return trip!
Lisa's cottage was so cute and perfect. Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer because she's so booked out, so be sure to grab it while you can! Great communication, easy checkin, 5 stars all around.
Lisa was so welcoming and helpful- we loved her immediately. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and we couldn't help but request it every single morning! It was like having restaurant breakfast delivered to your door each morning!
The cottage is located in a great neighborhood and is very easy to get to - very near the Mt. Tabor park which is gorgeous and also near the eclectic SE Hawthorne area which we frequented. The cottage itself is exactly what you see in the listing - a "tiny house" of sorts with everything that you need right there. Perfect for 1-2 people. We loved it. The whole experience was perfect and we highly recommend it!
A beautiful mini-cottage in a beautiful neighborhood! The house is near a popular street and a couple of bus stops that go straight to the heart of downtown. Also, there's an amazing coffee shop just a couple blocks away! As for the house: stunning, cozy, and perfect for two people. The ceilings are a bit low in places, so I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone over 6' or so, but it was perfect for us. AND THAT BED!! So comfortable!
This was my first AirBNB experience, and I feel like all future experiences are ruined because of how perfect Lisa and her cottage were! Lisa is a superb cook and excellent hostess. We only saw her a couple times, but since we wanted a private experience in PDX it was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better location/house/hostess/breakfast.
We loved this place! Great location and cute cottage. Breakfast is such a treat! We will be back:)
Had a very cozy and great time here! Although it was only for a night, it was a very comfortable stay and Lisa was very accommodating! Would definitely stay again
I am a retired clinical social worker (I worked for 15 years in local hospitals) and live with my husband Tom (who is an RN), and foster son (one of thousands of kids who fled the violence in Central America- seeking asylum here) in the South Tabor neighborhood of Portland. Tom and I met two decades ago while attending the University of Puerto Rico, and we love traveling, as well as opening up our backyard cottage & meeting new people! Tom lived all over the world as a kid (Nigeria, Puerto Rico) as did I (I went to junior high in Nairobi, Kenya). I am from the Willamette Valley (wine country) in Oregon and can point you to various activities that only locals know about .... For example the twice annual wine bottling party in McMinnville, organized by Linfield College professors & neighbors up on "High Heaven Rd" where you can get 20.00+/bottle wine for only 5 dollars per bottle (if you come bottle it yourself). It takes place in the Spring and the Fall, & is not advertised anywhere & not open to general public except guests of locals (such as myself) are welcome! You may come as my guest if you are interested! Also, there are some great walking trails - a couple of my favorites are walking on nearby Mt. Tabor park with views of the whole city. I also enjoy the trail next to the Columbia River. There are also plenty of fantastic places to eat in Portland I am happy to share with folks, that many Portlanders flock to & are not in the tourist guidebooks! I love to cook and enjoy carrying out a hot breakfast try to you in the morning. My parents used to own a restaurant. Some people do yoga to relax, I cook write & paint to relax, LOVE it!!!
