Welcome to the historic Henry Clay building in downtown Louisville. Our beautiful and spacious penthouse condo is the perfect location for your next visit to Louisville. Our guest bedroom is an upstairs loft with direct access to an amazing rooftop deck. The condo features lots of open space with great views of the city.
This listing is for the upstairs loft bedroom only which contains two identical IKEA Kivik Series sofa beds. The seat cushions double as the bed mattress - each with a top layer of memory foam that molds to the contours of your body and regains its shape when you get up. Each sofa bed will comfortably sleep two adults.
The guest bathroom is on the first floor of the condo along with the shared spaces for your use to include the living room, dining room, laundry room and kitchen - complete with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances.
The condo is walking distance to the river, convention center, YUM center, 4th Street Live, NuLu, Waterfront Park, Old Louisville, Central Park, and more. Additionally, the building is on or within a few blocks of all the major bus routes.
This stunning apartment could not have been any closer to my new job. Like, right behind my office and even sharing the same garage. Steve and Melvin were gracious -- and invisible -- hosts. After greeting me and showing me around, I stayed for four nights. Loved the eighth floor view of the city, with the big windows facing in the choice directions of north and east. The building is very secure. Even the elevator requires a card swipe to get to your floor. I slept in the upstairs loft and got used to the spiral staircase quickly. TVs up and down. And you even have direct rooftop access, unlike people on the seven floors below. The apartment is totally clean, furnished and has its own wi-fi network and climate control. I wasn't lacking for anything. A definite thumbs-up!
Melvin and Steven are outstanding hosts. The loft in this penthouse apartment is beautiful and conveniently located, and they provided everything I needed to make my stay easy and fun. The first night I was there, there was a severe storm warning, and Steven graciously offered to drive me to the grocery store to stock up before the rain hit (luckily it blew over). I was in town for a conference, and so I spent most of my first night in Louisville in the apartment finishing my presentation, and the room was perfect for getting the work done before heading out for the evening. The loft is also attached to a large deck with a great view. I wish I had had more time in town to take advantage of it.
One effect of living in tiny New York apartments for years is you become incredibly protective of your personal space, so I was a bit nervous to rent a single room in a stranger's apartment; I'd only ever rented whole properties through Air BnB. But Melvin and Steven offered a balance of privacy and attentiveness that was very welcoming. They don't just own the property, they're true hosts. Even after I, like an idiot, broke their shower curtain rod, their hospitality and charm were unwavering.
I wholly recommend this apartment to anyone coming to Louisville -- I only wish I could have spent more time there.
Beautiful place and the hosts could not have been more helpful and hospitable. I definitively recommend.
Beautiful, tastefully put-together, charming home. The bed was a pullout couch, which was advertised. Melvin and his partner were wonderful hosts. If ever back in Louisville, I hope to stay with them again.
Cozy top floor spot in a very interesting historic building. I needed a nice chill place to get a good night's sleep and Melvin's loft delivered just that. Thanks again!
I had looked forward to staying here again and was not disappointed. Beautiful space, great location, gracious host. Thanks!
Great, friendly host! Accommodated us for one night on short notice. Fun location. Hope to return for Derby one day!
Melvin's guest loft is at the top floor of an historic building near the heart of the city, which made it easy to explore the area on foot. The apartment was welcoming and clean.
Hint - there's a great restaurant serving local food and drinks called Hillbilly Tea, which is just a few blocks from the place. Great to grab an iced tea on a hot summer day.
I had a great stay. Easy to communicate with Melvin and Steven. Enjoyed the outdoor deck and getting to catch up on some reading.
Melvin and Steven were wonderful hosts. They keep a very warm and hospitable home. The accommodation is clean and comfortable. The guest loft is in a fabulous location downtown within walking distance to a lot that Louisville has to offer. We also experienced some spectacular sunsets and sunrises from the vantage point of the 8th floor. Although we didn't see them often, our hosts did an incredible job of ensuring our needs were met so we could have the best stay possible. They also were kind to share a short list of restaurants to check out during our stay. We ended up eating at almost all of them and loved every minute of it. The food in town is delicious! Melvin and Steven were a prime example of the overall Louisville hospitality we experienced. If we ever make it back to the area, we will be sure to stay here again.
