  • Case's apartment was beautiful inside and out. I don't think I've ever seen an apartment with a more perfectly utilized space. Everything from the decor to the furniture to the functional aspects of it seemed to be just so in its right place.

Downstairs is the kitchen and living room with a table and couches that are arranged cozily in front of the fireplace, record player, & TV. The kitchen is tucked to the side opposite the spiral staircase. Up the staircase is the attic bedroom, bathroom, laundry, and solarium/sun room patio. Everything was spotless when we arrived and everything we needed was within reach. The apartment is situated in the quaint, quiet, and comfortable neighborhood of Columbia Heights, and the neighbors are all friendly, inviting and willing to help.

This apartment has so much character and is the perfect place to stay if you're looking for an extended getaway with a sweetie or if you have friends in town but you don't want to stay with them. It definitely made me feel like I lived in and got to experience the kind of traditional housing available in DC. Honestly, if Case told me he and Leigh were moving out tomorrow, I would want to move right in! Thanks, Case & Leigh for opening your home to us, and we hope to visit again in the near future.

  • Case and Leigh aren't kidding when they say their place is "light-filled"! It was a real treat to be there before and after a winter storm, and to be curled up on their couch while DC hunkered down :).
Location is easy to metro, and a few nice restos close by. Enjoyable all around! Sadly, I didn't get to meet the hosts, but they left me in the good care of a friendly and helpful neighbour.

  • This was a last minute trip to DC and thankfully this apartment was available. I had a fantastic stay -- Case was a gracious host who met me at the door with the keys and gave me the lay of the land. His apartment was absolutely perfect and exactly as described. The fireplace was delightful, the sunroom picturesque and relaxing, and the bed was so comfortable I didn't want to get up in the morning. The amenities were plentiful and he even had darts, Shoot the Moon an a record player with a great collection! Throwbacks to my childhood days. The TV was exactly as described and ideally situated for any discerning customer, but I had plenty to do in and out of the apartment, so I hardly turned it on.
Oh, and he also left me his metro card which was a thoughtful addition -- who wants to fiddle with paper cards when taking the train?
I even loved the neighborhood. I'm from New York and the best I can compare Columbia Heights would be the Brooklyn of DC, except it's much closer to downtown. It was shock full of restaurants and bars and culture, which I regret not having enough time to check out. I will say, there's a bit of street noise during rush hour because it's at the center of everything, but it was hardly anything considering the location.
I can't say enough about my experience and my host, Case. I will stay here whenever I come to DC. This apartment is second to none, especially for the price.

    Response from Case:

Thanks Ethan! Glad you had a nice stay.
I recently purchased the record player and am constantly working to build my collection.

  • First things first...couldn't have asked for a better host. Case is friendly, informative and very supporting! Any question I had, he answered right away.

The place itself is beautiful and we couldn't have had a better time. The apartment is very cozy and homey. We were surprised with how beautiful the area is...I would say a little New York City picturesque.

Case left us many recommendations for around the area. Next time we are in DC, we will make sure to stay here! Thanks again!

  • The apartment was nice and cozy and all that's been described. Case was a great host - leaving out a handy guide to the apartment & dc, coordinating and checking in on things (while he was out of the country). Great set of neighbors too. Definitely would stay again.

  • Case was a great host. He helped us get tickets to visit the White House and left metro cards for us to use. He also provided info on local restaurants and walks in the neighborhood. He was very responsive to any questions we had during our stay.

  • The flat is as great as it looks in the pictures - cute, cosy, full of light and very well located. The owners had already thought of everything we might need during our stay and had either left it for us in the flat or left careful, handy instructions in a little welcome booklet. A great stay.
