The light and airy Weavers Loft is the entire 60sqm top floor of this listed 18th century, French Huguenot, 5-story, Georgian town house. So called because of its original use during the thriving silk weaving period of this culturally rich neighbourhood. From its two accessible dormer roof terraces, which run the length of the building are views of London’s old Dickensian rooftops on one side and the new city skyline of the financial (email hidden)rpool Street on the other.
This heritage street in Zone 1, along with its three adjoining streets are the starting point for no less than the Jack The Ripper tour, the Georgian Architecture tour, Jewish tour and Street Art graffiti tour, which goes someway to explaining its past and present. The neighbourhood is host to Spitalfields Market; whose highlight is the Antiques Market on Thursdays; and The Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane’s general market on Sundays - all within 1 minutes walk. Slightly further afield is the Columbia Road Sunday flower market, only 12 minutes walk and Borough Markets Saturday food market by the Thames; 25 minutes walk.
There are well over 100 restaurants within 10 minutes’ walk, including St John Bread & Wine, Hawksmoor (for meat lovers), Galvins and at the end of a classic night out there is the 24hr Beigel (or bagel) Shop on Brick Lane - watch out for excessive mustard! The Old Truman Brewery, Hoxton and Shoreditch are the centre of nightlife in these parts with a rich mix of music, art galleries, clubs and bars.
Whether you’re here for work or play, you simply wouldn’t need to leave the neighbourhood or perhaps the house. If you fancy a change from the dizzying heights of the top floor with its cedar tub and power shower - travel down a couple of flights and enjoy some of the common spaces including orchid room (good for breakfast), lounge, library with desk, dining room, kitchen with all Gaggenau appliances; and last but not least, the Banana Barn with adjoining courtyard on the ground floor, which is flooded with light much of the day.
Your hosts are friendly creative professionals who work long hours, and enjoy walking the hypoallergenic, non-moulting friendly office dog, Mr Rufus; good wine, dinner parties and who know what you expect. Rooms come equipped with fresh towels, Wi-Fi, iPhone charger, keys and a warm welcome to London.
The communal floors and front door access are shared, but the house is huge and no one has any need to access the top floor apart from you, all yours for the duration of your stay!
Must wear shoes (or go barefoot) at all times! Staircases are painted wood and are 300 years old, so are not straight. For this same reason not really suitable for kids or anyone who doesn't feel 100% physically able - this can apply to both young and old of course.

This was our first time sharing a letting with the owner, so we were a bit unsure of the protocol. As usual the luck of Airbnb was with us and we had a great time staying on the top floor of Rachel and Jimmy's beautiful house. It felt very private, warm, cosy, light airy and luxurious. As the other reviews say, its a great house in an interesting part of London, only minutes from central London by tube. Highly recommended!
Amazing property, great location, fantastic bath and very friendly owners. A fab place to stay in London.
I can't recommend staying at Jimmy & Rachel's enough. The house is one of the most amazing places I have ever seen and the hosts are the most welcoming and helpful people. The location is great, the place is light and clean and spacious. I really have nothing other than good things to say about staying here and will recommend it to everyone I know. Thanks Jimmy & Rachel!
Highly recommended. The house is great including the orchid room. Beautiful top floor. Very comfortable bed. Jimmy and Rachel are wonderful hosts. Rufus (the dog) is a character.
Really nice accommodations but you need to (i) be prepared to climb to the top floor, and (ii) be comfortable with a wet bath. For me these are a bunch of the charms.
Slept very well here.
Many thanks to Jimmy and Rachel.
Staying at Rachel and Jimmy's beautiful house was just wonderful! It couldn't be in a better location and the house itself is stunning. We felt very welcome and comfortable staying here, Jimmy and Rachel (and Rachel's father!) were great hosts. I hope I can stay again next time I'm in London.
Absolutely incredible listing and amazing space. Unbelievable location and great hosts to work with! Easy check-in and out. Everything was seamless. Place is as pictured - if not better. I will be staying here next time in London. Thank you so much Jimmy and Rachel!
We had a pleasant stay at this apartment. It's comfy and excellent located. We would recommend it to friends for sure.
Also Rachel was really nice and gave us a lot of good tips for restaurants and bars.
We really enjoyed our stay at Rachel and Jimmy's. They were really welcoming, and the place was very neat. The loft is gorgeous and ideally located. I am kind of jealous of their house ;)
I booked this place as a Christmas present to a couple of friends and they had an amazing time. Rachel and Jimmie were excellent hosts and the house is right in the centre of the 'happening' part of London. The house is a destination in itself, with amazing views from the loft. Next time I will be booking this it will be for me!
The property is exceptional and so are the hosts. Jimmy and Rachel were fun, friendly and very accommodating. I thoroughly enjoyed my 10 day stay and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else the next time I'm in London, The location is at the epicenter of all the best the East End has to offer and has easy access to taxis, trains and subways. Nude Espresso is around the corner and was my daily coffee and breakfast fix. I miss it already ...
