Beth was a wonderful host, greeting us at the home, and checking on us. She is a wonderful baker, who makes the most delicious muffins. Our privacy was respected, but at the same time there was a balance of attention from Beth, as well.
The size of the apartment was perfect for us, and being able to walk to the beach whenever we wanted was wonderful. A great location in Kailua.
Beth was an excellent host - showed us around the property as soon as we arrived and welcomed us to Kailua. Very clean 2 bedroom house with a private lanai and fenced in yard - such a short walk to the beach! Loved the location. We were able to use beach mats, chairs, boogie boards and sand toys that Beth had available for guests. Would love to stay here again the next time we visit Kailua!
I can confidently say this vacation was the worst vacation I have had to date. The issues I had with this property were:
1. Extremely uncomfortable beds
The mattresses at this rental, which may appear in the photos quiet grand, are thin and absolutely impossible to sleep on. We stayed at this rental for 6 nights and for 6 nights my entire family and I got no sleep. During those 6 sleepless nights, my family and I were to exhausted to explore the island or even less enjoy each others company.
On each bed was one extremely thin coarse brownish-white sheet. To accompany with this, a flat over used pillow.
3. Washer Dryer
These were run by the landlords all night the first 2 nights we stayed there. Making it impossible for my mother to sleep at the property.
In addition, these washer/dryers are very very old and outdated. They must be at least 15-20 year old.
4. Landlords on sight
Id like to first say that Beth is incredible. She is extremely hospitable and went beyond Airbnb to make me feel at home.
Personally though, If I had known that the landlords were going to be just 5 feet from my front door I would not have booked this place. I did not read the fine print closely enough.
During our stay we had an issue with the neighbors that caused a huge fight in my family. The neighbors were upset that we had parked our car across the street from our rental and were threatening to have it towed. This moment alone caused a huge amount of stress on me. This caused so much tension for us with the neighbors, the landlords and absolutely created a tremendous amount of stress in my family. It almost completely ruined the trip.
5. 2nd Rental behind our rental
When you book this place, there is an adjacent property right behind that the landlords are also renting out. This makes the flow of people coming in and out of this property tremendous. It kind of takes away from the 'relaxing beach house vibe'.
6. Dust, Poor airflow
I stayed in the master bedroom. My personal experience was that the dust and lack of airflow (even with windows open) made it extremely hard to breath.
Great location in Kailua
Really it comes down to what you are going to Hawaii for. If its for a simplistic beach experience without any pampering then this is your place. I give 1 star for the location, 1 star for Beth (host)
After leaving the house a complete mess, paying for three guests and arriving with four and three cars, disturbing my neighbors and creating a parking issue, Lara knew I would give her a poor review. Most guests find the house better then satisfactory and the beds comfortable. The house has multiple pillows to choose from because different guests like different kinds of pillows. although we try, you just can't please everyone.
Beth was very polite and flexible for check-in time. The property was as expected and in good condition. There were some communal beach items to borrow too. Beth even stopped by one morning and dropped off some freshly baked blueberry muffins.
Would stay there again, no hesitation. Compared to other substantially more expensive options in the area this one is definitely priced for value. Be aware there's one bathroom!
The place was great, just as advertised. Beth was very welcoming and gracious. When we needed anything she was ready to provide it. The beach is close and quite nice. There was a generous supply of boogie boards, chairs, coolers, beach mats, etc., etc. for us to use. The neighborhood is quiet. I recommend the place highly.

About the Host, Beth
I am one of the luckiest women around. I live in a beautiful spacious home in Kailua, Hawaii, one block from the beach, with my awesome husband John and our two very friendly and spoiled dogs. We are recent empty nesters with two exceptional kids!John and I love to "talk story" (the Hawaiian slang term for chatting) with interesting people, spending time together at the beach and watching basketball and football - we're University of Arizona and Arizona Cardinals fans! I spend my free time in my garden, reading great books, hiking or walking the beach with my dogs, and baking/cooking yummy things.
Kailua is a lovely town. I'd love to share our piece of paradise with you!
