  • This was a nice little pad with great views of the mountains on one side and a 3min walk to the beach on the other side. We fit 6 people in the house even though its probably best suited for 4 people or less. It only has 1 bathroom so for 6 people, this was a challenge. But other than that it was a great time for all of us, and Beth was a great and warm host.

    Thanks!

  • We really enjoyed our stay. This is a very clean and neat two bedroom that is so close to a beautiful beach. Not a crowded beach. Beth was a wonderful hostess, bringing us treats and helping us find our way around. Wish I could make this an annual vacation.

  • Beth was a wonderful host, and the accommodations were superb. The beach access was so close, and the portion of Kailua Beach near the apartment was beautiful and quiet.

  • Our stay at this house was wonderful. Beth was a great host, and baked some delicious muffins! The house is cozy, and very close to the beach. If we had known that we would end up spending so much of our time in Waikiki, though, we might have picked a different location (closer to Honolulu). The drive to Honolulu takes about 30 minutes. Although the drive is beautiful, it can eat up a good chunk of time! But if you want to spend time away from the hustle and bustle, and enjoy Kailua and the surrounding area, then this house is great.

  • We enjoyed our 10 days at Beth’s place over Christmas and New Year 2014. The cottage was cozy, clean and had everything we needed. We love the space and privacy this cottage has. The walking distance to the beach is very close. Kailua shops are nearby and we had our best meal on this trip at the local Japanese restaurant. Beth is a wonderful host and one hell of a baker. (In the good way) We really enjoyed the freshly baked Muffins. There was a small Christmas tree and small Christmas decorations in the house. This was a really nice touch for time of year and made us feel very homely. Our daughter really enjoyed the space and cottage was very safe for a 15 month who is at the stage of touching everything! We would stay here again in a heart beat.

  • I liked this little cottage. It was basic but comfortable; it was cozy but open. The location is great, close to town and close to the beach. I liked the outdoor shower for cleaning up after the beach, also the beach chairs, boogie boards and other supplies available for our use. Kailua is closer and easier to get to from Honolulu than I realized, but it is a world apart. I liked exploring the town's restaurants as well as having access to Whole Foods and other regular grocery stores. This cottage was perfect for the four nights we wanted to spend on Oahu, but away from the Honolulu area.

  • Our family of 4 had stayed for 3 days at Beth's place. And these 3 days were one of the most wonderful vacations we had in last few years. We will definitely come back to Beth's place. Beth and her family were very friendly and so pleasant. We had our privacy, yet if we needed something, Beth was always there for us with her warm smile and fun humor. The rooms were big, wonderfully decorated and perfectly clean. The kitchen had the big fridge, microwave, toaster, oven, all the necessary stuff for us to cook whatever we wanted to eat. The location was also very convenient. It was 3 minutes walk to get to Kailua beach. Also in 3 minute drive you'd get to the center of Kailua city, were they have Boots' and Kimo's and other restaurants, Whole Foods store etc etc. Ulupa 122 will always be in my memory and I will definitely go there again, and again, and again \( ^-^)/

  • Beth was a warm and friendly host. We had the privacy we wanted and I especially appreciated the little fountain and outside sitting area by our front door. It created a relaxing nook whenever needed, morning, noon or night. The sound of running water is so healing, and just what I needed to unwind from work.

Their place was clean and comfortable in size and function. We had reliable wireless when needed for work, cable TV when we wanted to see a good movie, and beach chairs and umbrella when we escaped to the beach. The place also had good water pressure in the shower and plenty of fans and windows to control the temperature. We used the AC in the living a few times to blast out the heat, but overall we didn't need it much. The evening air was perfectly mild.

The nearby beach was just what we wanted as well – local access and feel without congestion. There are plenty of food options within a 5 minute drive, but a full kitchen if you want to cook there. We really enjoyed the neighborhood and just having time to be a family. My wife, daughter and I give it a thumbs up! Oh, and yes, Beth's muffins are delightful to say the least.

    Mahalo!

  • My family of 5 stayed at Beth's place for our week long trip to Hawaii. This was our first trip to Hawaii and with two small children we were looking for a place that was safe, clean, had many of the same amenities we have at home, and was close to the beach and shopping. Beth's place met all those needs. It's in walking distance to the beach, but it's also a 2-3 minute drive to the heart of Kailua which has a Whole Foods and numerous restaurants. Her house was clean, neat, and we felt comfortable leaving all the windows open to take advantage of the wonderful breeze at night.

Beth was a great host providing us with beach towels, boogie boards, and info on local attractions--e.g., the fantastic local farmer's market. If we come back to O'ahu versus trying one of the other islands, we'll definitely plan to stay at Beth's place--if it's not already booked.

  • Beth and her husband were so pleasant! The house itself was clean, cozy and charming (just like the pictures), and felt like home immediately. The location is literally a block away from Kailua beach, so it would be perfect for families with young children who love the beach but want to avoid all the tourists in Waikiki.

Beth also swung by a couple of times to drop off some freshly baked muffins for us! Highly recommend Beth and her house - I didn't want to leave!

About
I am one of the luckiest women around. I live in a beautiful spacious home in Kailua, Hawaii, one block from the beach, with my awesome husband John and two exceptional teenagers. We love to "talk story" (the Hawaiian slang term for chatting) with interesting people, spending time together at the beach and watching football - we're (email hidden) Cardinals fans! I spend my free time in my garden, reading great books, hiking or walking the beach with my dogs, and baking/cooking yummy things. Kailua is a lovely town. I'd love to share our piece of paradise with you! Warmest Aloha Beth
