Lake Tahoe Sanctuary

House - Entire home/apt · Chipmunk St, Kings Beach, CA 96143, United States

The Space

Our Lake Tahoe Sanctuary is beautifully situated on the lake with a few gorgeous and tall pine trees dotting the land around it. A very warm, welcoming home where you can completely relax and where it seems like time stands still. Perfectly located in Kings Beach just a short minute walk from the beach and a short drive to major ski resorts like Northstar and Mt. Rose, this home is ideal for couples, families or friends looking for some R&R. With a private pier looking out onto the entire lake, you can grab a glass of wine or some warm tea and watch the sun set behind the mountains as the lake changes its colors. There are also restaurants and bars nearby for food and drink. It has been a magical spot for us and believe it will be the same for you.

The house itself has three well sized bedrooms with queen beds, a pull out couch and another couch that can sleep one more. It has a fully stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, storeroom to store your gear in and a heart shaped tub to soothe your muscles. It has two large decks and TV/cable. It also has wifi and a fireplace. Throughout the house is art work and beautiful rugs. It feels like a home and you can make it your own. Stay for two nights or more and enjoy.

Price is all inclusive except for a $90 cleaning fee.

  • Great place to stay. Our party went up to Diamond Peak to snowboard but the cabin is close enough to other resorts. A quick walk to the lake, we spent some time there taking photos too. There's plenty of space for 7 with 3 beds, a pull out couch, and another couch. We spent some of the downtime watching the 2014 winter olympics on the TV too. Towels were plenty, linens on the bed, free range to all of the facilities. There's laundry and a jacuzzi tub. Also, 3 bathrooms were plenty (one in the master bedroom).

  • My family and friends had a great time staying at the Lake Tahoe Sanctuary. The condo accommodated my group of seven for four nights, and even facilitated an extra two people for one of the nights. We visited Lake Tahoe to ski in the area, so I would rate proximity to skiing, specifically at Squaw Valley (~30 min) and Northstar (~15 min), as the highlight for this condo. However, I should also note that the short walk to the lake (<100 yards) was another benefit of the location--I can only imagine how valuable this would be during the summer. The Lake Tahoe Sanctuary is located within a well laid out cluster of condos, but it is not a standalone unit and there are neighbors on both sides. Fortunately, proximity to others did not matter for my group because the units on either side of us were empty. Overall, we had a great time in the North Lake Tahoe area and I want to thank Tania and Phillip for providing us with the opportunity to use their condo.

To wrap up my comments, I have listed the pros and cons of the property as voted upon by my group.

    Pros:
-Location (to skiing, the lake, and Safeway)
-Large dining table (group diners on vacation are the best!)
    -Washer and dryer
-Storage (room for gear, clothes, food, etc)
-Responsiveness of Tania to questions (both when inquiring about the property and once it has been booked)
-Size of bedrooms (sometimes you just need to get away)

    Cons:
-Address on airbnb is not exact (confusing when there are many other condos in the area)
-Limited heat in the lower level of the condo
-Oven temperature is very irregular (likely related to broken glass in oven door
-Not enough bedding for pull out sofa in master bedroom
-No washcloths in kitchen or bathrooms (but there were plenty of towels)
-Overall cleanliness could be improved a bit (vacuuming, dusting, new slipcovers on beds)

  • We had a good time staying here. The house was neat and clean and had all the required things. Thank you Philip and Tania for having us in your home.

  • I paid almost $800 for two nights, I could have gotten a suite at Hayatt next door. Very foul musty smell, each of the closets filled with owners cloths & junks. We couldnt unpack. Felt as if we were being intrusive. Rooms were neatly organized but not fresh bed sheets. There were two tv / VCR combos and none worked. Sofas and carpet had stains, looked disgusting. Balcony was so dirty that we couldn't even sit outside. Worse part was the dog feces all around the park, especially infront of this house. One of the worse experiences of my life. Oh did I mention the bedroom had cigerette smell. Most probably Airbnb will just delete this review.

  • Philip and Tania were great hosts. The house is fantastic and the view of the master bedroom is just breathtaking. My friends and I spent 3 wonderful days in Lake Tahoe and the house just added up to our perfect vacation. Thank you so much for having us in your home. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to family and friends.

  • We loved this place: the views are amazing, the place feels like home and is very well decorated. The rooms are generous and the access to the lake is amazing. Our kids loved to play on the lawn and walk onto the private pier. Great place to go for a relaxing stay

  • Philip and Tania's house is a gorgeous, peaceful place to stay. Their 2 decks overlooking the lake are perfect, and the pier is just steps away - perfect for a quick dip in the morning or an afternoon spent sunning on the dock! A very well-stocked kitchen, relaxed living space, and super-comfy beds were perfect for our group, and it's easy to drive to local cafes, stores, etc. Kings Beach (and this house) are now some of my favorite things about Tahoe!
