Walking distance to famed Runyon Canyon and the walk of fame on Hollywood Boulevard and the Hollywood Highland complex with the Kodak Theater. Also walking distance to the famed The Grove and Farmers Market. (longer walk)
Very comfortable in a very cool area. Check out the scene close by. Drop by Xai Hookah Lounge on Sunset. Or eat at the new Pikey's Bar on Sunset or the fabulous Cheebo on Sunset and Sierra Bonita or Bossa Nova on Sunset (open until 3 am), Aroma on Sunset, El Compadre with the best margaritas and chips and mariachi music on Sunset (and relatively cheap) all an easy close walk. All types of restaurants and cafes with all types of food, including vegetarian. I just had an all you can eat Korean BBQ that was great: $26 a person at Oo-Kook Korean BBQ Restaurant with prime, Kobe and Waygu beef--15-20 min drive. Or I'm told that Boiling Crab is very good but a wait. Have Sushi, cheap or expensive within walking distance. Everyone delivers here too. Order by internet. Or have a real adventure. Take the metro downtown and check out The Edison. But you will need to dress up. they have shows...1920's era SpeakEasy...people dress up....very fun scene...very happening...
But all of LA is happening these days...all this creative energy in Hollywood mixed with perfect (email hidden)d a culture of freedom and choice. Check my favorite website for recommendations: (website hidden).
Walk to Sundance movie theaters, the Director's Guild (where film festivals are often held) or ArcLight theaters (Arclight is a much farther walk) for the best movie/film experience., where u can buy individual seats online or drink wine while viewing film. Go to the upscale Sunset Plaza or the Beverly Center or
Beverly Connection. Walk to Melrose.
Or get the best burgers that are also the cheapest at In and Out Burger, just east of our location. Try the neopolitan milk shake (also not advertised but for those in the know). Or order your burger low carb with lettuce wrap instead of a bun...or ask for any of their burgers "Animal Style." They don't advertise it...but those in the know...go! It is a must have experience.
Go to the cool remodeled Observatory. Check out LACMA (L.A. County Museum of Art), nearby at Wilshire and Fairfax or the car museum. Don't miss the Getty if you love architecture and art or downtown Disney Hall that was designed by Frank Gehry and is quite impressive in terms of architecture and music. You can take the metro for a show downtown. Because the only great area with a metro is at Hollywood Highland.
See Runyon Canyon from your window in the distance, or walk it to the top at Mulholland Drive and maybe find yourself walking or hiking with a movie star or director. And aside from a great walk, you can see the best view in Los Angeles, all the way to downtown and the ocean.
The Backyard of apartment building is landscaped with flowers and fruit trees (lots of lemons and avocados) and sitting area and red barbecue enclosed with bamboo fencing. If you smoke, you are welcome to smoke outside in the backyard. No smoking in the unit except on balcony with door closed.
There is a manager at the location who is incredibly helpful and French (and she speaks Spanish as well). You will get a real feel for living in Los Angeles here as we are in the heart of the hippest and coolest area of Los Angeles with also the best weather.
Taking the metro nearby, you can be in downtown los angeles in 15 minutes or Universal City in 10 min.or the train station, The closest metro stop is Hollywood Highland, which is a big indoor/outdoor shopping structure with parking, shopping, restaurants, movies, entertainment on the streets and the famous sidewalk with stars and handprints of the stars.
Compare to nearby hotels with only one room of 200-300 sq ft (Loew's ,the Standard, the Roosevelt, Comfort Inns, W) and here at this remodeled two bedroom 1200 sq ft unit with kitchen and all hotel amenities, including location.
You will be at the center of the action. ..where creatives from around the world (email hidden)e mix is intoxicating and L.A. in this part of town is very friendly and very laid back and safe.
Freedom reigns and everyone is welcome. I've traveled the world...but returning to L.A. with its perfect humidity and perfect weather and ultimate sense of freedom, never gets boring.
For a side trip...go to the Channel Islands and explore, an hour away or take a day trip to Santa Barbara wineries about 1 1/2 hour drive away. Malibu is a 45-60 minute drive north. High end restaurant in deep Malibu is Geoffrey's Restaurant (outdoor dining also..and overlooking the ocean)...casual and good but not cheap...is Gladstones (overlooking the ocean) which is just at the border of Malibu so not as far as deep Malibu. Also, for some scene action and if you check out Santa Monica (where it can be 10 degrees cooler and overcast)...go to the Huntley Hotel in Santa Monica for Happy Hour during the week. Or the W hotel in Hollywood. Bosa Nova on Sunset has a happy hour too 3-7 and is open until 3:30 a.m. Brazilian, Pizza, salad, main dishes, salmon, skirt steak, pasta...really enjoyable and busy.
From June 25, go see the Laguna Art Festival and the famous Festival of the Masters along with the Sawdust Art Festival...this is about 1 1/2 hour drive south...but Laguna Beach is absolutely charming and you will love it, especially now.
The beauty of Southern California is at your fingertips...and the few days you've set aside for L.A. will whet your appetite for more. And if you love city life, west Hollywood takes the cake. Places stay open late, people on the move. Nearby there is always a restaurant open until 3 am. Le Bar Marmont very close at the Chateau Marmont Hotel. Melrose close. Sunset 2 blocks away. But relax...this is L.A., the west coast, not New York of the cold or humid, hyper and costly east coast. (But don't get me wrong, I enjoy NYC now and then too). This is the friendly warm coast. Where dreams and people play together. And some come true.
The backyard, including the redwood deck with chaise lounges, table, chairs, umbrella and the barbeque. These are common areas for the building. The umbrella has a solar light on it that can be turned on at night. Just remember to turn it off when you leave.
Interaction with Guests
Sometimes I am available...but there is always someone available to answer any questions that may come up. There is a manager on site and she will be glad to be of help Please don't disturb other tenants. And please be respectful of the neighborhood and do not mention you are an airbnb guest.
Me and my extended family live in this area and we love it. Have lived in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Westwood, W.L.A. the Valley and the Hollywood Hills and this is by far my favorite location. Central, convenient, fun, international, and creative. I see it as the West Village (as in NYC) but of Los Angeles.
And one can actually walk to restaurants in this area. LA is so car centric in general which is why I love the ability to walk in a neighborhood. Directly across the street is Spaulding Square, designated a historical district with Craftsman houses...very pretty area to walk around.
yes to public transportation or walking--2 blocks to Sunset...or Santa Monica Blvd. 4 blocks to Hollywood Blvd or Melrose. Metro at Hollywood and Highland. Runyon Cyn nearby
Other Things to Note
On TUESDAY NIGHT only,THE PARKING SPACE CANNOT BE USED because the garbage collectors come very early Wednesday morning. So park on the street for this night only.
Infants and children are counted as people when making a reservation...
DISHES MUST BE WASHED, BY HAND or RUN THROUGH THE DISHWASHER, OR I am charged extra by my cleaners. The cleaning company I use does not do dirty dishes and charges extra if the kitchen is a mess or if there is an extra dirty apartment. Just keep the place tidy and don't leave dirty dishes! Any extra charge to me from the cleaners will be deducted from the deposit. Fortunately I have pretty wonderful guests and have never had to impose a pass through charge. But it's a big apartment so there is a lot to do to get it ready and in the condition you appreciate. So please be considerate about these rules.
No guests NOT listed on the reservation can stay or visit the place. Please leave the place in the condition you found it. There should be a laundry basket to put towels.
Dishes are to be WASHED before leaving...there is an automatic dishwasher--use automatic dishwashing pods in dishwasher. DO NOT LEAVE DIRTY DISHES in the dishwasher. You can hand wash also, if you don't wish to use the dishwasher. But the dishes need to be clean when housekeeping comes or I am charged an extra cleaning fee.
No smoking in the unit...HOWEVER, someone can smoke outside or ON THE BALCONY of the unit if the french door is CLOSED..
Absolutely No pets.
Please tidy up before you go. One bath towel per person per stay. If you use more, please wash and dry in rear of bldg where there are coin operated machines.
Please take your shoes off when inside....there are neighbors (below you and across) so no loud talking, TV, music, or people running or jumping around (usually applies to kids).
There is also a blueray DVD in living room that has internet access if you want to use your amazon, netflix or hulu accounts. Make sure TV is set on cable and HDMI 1 if you are having trouble getting reception. The DVD player is probably set on HDMI 2--but check.
Generally speaking, it's quite good experience, except for a bit noisy since the window is to Fountain Avenue, and the parking lot is difficult to park if you drive a big SUV.
It was a pleasure hosting you. I have triple paned windows in the apartment so my guests generally feel good about the insulation. But I mention in my listing that the extra large SUV is a tight fit. However, that is true in most of Los Angeles. It is much more difficult to find parking in Los Angeles, when sight seeing, if you have an exta large SUV. It is good for traveling long distances but more difficult when driving in the city. Thank you for staying.
Lovely apartment very clean, comfy beds and very roomy. Great location for everything Hollywood has to offer. We really enjoyed our stay. Thanks Denise.
We loved this big apartment in the middle of West Hollywood with all the necessary amenities. Keyless entry, cable, free coffee and a parking spot made our stay very easy and comfortable. The manager was very helpful when a neighbor had boxed us in with his car. Great stay!
Denise was out of town, but available for any questions we had via email. Everything was smooth and I'd stay again.
Really nice and comfortable apartment, at a great location, Hollywood Blvd is just a short walk away! Perfect place to visit LA, highly recommended!
great location, lots of utensils and towels. My one complaint would be that the listing listed a lot of tv services that were not actually available but i thought they were. Maybe that needs to be clarified on the listing
Also there were weird stains on the ceiling of one bathroom and an exposed outlet.
Denise abd Veronica were very helpful and responsive

About the Host, Denise
I am a dynamic and ebullient personality and just love meeting new and interesting people from around the world. I travel alot and therefore have an appreciation for what people like when they travel. I have also used airbnb before myself as a guest, once in Italy where it turned out great, and another time I tried to find something in New York City where there was nothing that was suitable for my needs. Therefore, it's important to me that guests have a good experience and find something close to what they are looking for at the right price. I believe these places offer that.
When I travel, it is critical to me that I have comfortable beds and big beds. So in these units, the beds are high end and very comfortable. You can tell from the reviews what people think. I also believe environment is important so these places all have redwood decks...something unique, I believe...and modern furnishings. I also like to be walking distance to restaurants and sights and clubs....that's tough to do in LA, but these places definitely offer that too. And vibe. Ultimately, I want to stay in a place like these places...but don't often find them in other countries. And hearing how happy people are is a real high. I have a lot of faith in people...and by and large am rarely disappointed. If only the people I've met were running the world......!!
