About this listing
Family friendly home one mile from the beach.
*If you are new to Airbnb, our space is a home share. This means we actually live in this home, but offer it as a rental while we are away traveling.*
Our condo is close to all San Diego has to offer. It is located in the Point Loma neighborhood of the city of San Diego. Point Loma is a residential area situated on a peninsula just north of the airport and downtown. On the north side of the peninsula is Ocean Beach and Sunset Cliffs Natural Park. Ocean Beach features a fishing pier, a weekly farmer's market on Wednesdays, restaurants, bars, sandy beaches, and shopping. Sunset Cliffs has surfing, tidepooling, a walking path, and gorgeous sunsets. The south side of the peninsula has the San Diego Bay with it's kid-friendly beaches, fresh seafood restaurants, and views of the harbor and downtown. At the tip of the peninsula is Cabrillo National Monument. This has hiking, tidepooling, whale watching (in the winter months), and sweeping views of Coronado, downtown, and into Mexico.
From our condo, it's a short walk to a supermarket, restaurants, coffee shops, bars, salons, the public library, the YMCA (with heated pool, hot tub, full gym, and fitness classes), and a park with a playground. We're an easy one mile walk from Ocean Beach. We are 2 miles from the nearest San Diego Trolley station and 2 blocks from the nearest bus stop.
We're a short drive (10 minutes or less) from the airport, Sea World, Downtown, Petco Park, the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Qualcomm Stadium, Old Town, and Mission Beach.
Our condo has two floors. The first floor has a living room, fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, half bath, washer and dryer, and a small patio with a barbeque. The couch in the living room makes out into a double bed. Upstairs we have two bedrooms, one with a queen sized bed, the other with a lofted twin bed and a crib that can be converted into a toddler bed. There are two full bathrooms on this floor. The living room has a flat screen tv, dvd player, and an old school vcr.
The San Diego Airport is located right in the center of the city, causing all centrally located homes to have some airplane noise. To combat this, our condo has double paned windows and white noise makers in each bedroom for light sleepers. Flights are limited to the hours between 6:30 AM and 10:00 PM. In summer months, you will hear Sea World's fireworks at 8:50 PM.
Our condo is in a small complex with just 9 other units. The other residents are mature and quiet- so this is not the place for people who want to party. Also, we have a 4 person maximum (including children and babies) in our condo, which is strictly enforced by our neighbors. Our condo is situated in a residential neighborhood, but on a fairly busy street. However, there is plenty of free street parking right out in front of our home.
For those of you traveling with children, the condo has a crib, a little highchair that straps on to a chair, and plenty of books and toys for toddlers and young children. I can also provide an umbrella stroller with advance notice.
I have lived in San Diego for 19 years, and LA and Orange County for 16 years before that, so if you have any questions about planning a trip to Southern California, please just ask.
Thanks for looking!
Walk to everything you need. Three blocks to a full-sized supermarket, cupcake shop, coffee shop, and excellent Mexican, Italian, and Thai food.
10 blocks from the beach.
No pets, no smoking, no visitors, no parties.
This is a small (10 unit) condo complex with quiet, mature residents. We ask that guests be respectful of the residents. Also, as per our HOA, we have a 4 guest maximum. Our neighbors will enforce this, so please respect this rule. This is our home that we live in, so our personal belongings are in it. This is not a hotel, so there is no daily cleaning service (this has confused people before). $50 fee for late checkout without prior approval. Thanks for booking with us, and we hope you have a wonderful time in San Diego.
Erin responded immediately when I requested to book her condo. She made us feel welcome by answering all questions that I had. The condo was very clean and comfortable. It was difficult to find a place for 3 single adults, but she accommodated by providing bedding for a sofa bed and an air bed. Her neighbors were also friendly and helpful when I had problems with a key that stuck in the lock, and Erin herself called me immediately and so the problem was solved very quickly! She left a wonderful binder that had so many articles about what to see and do in San Diego. One could spend a month and not see it all! And the condo was so close to everything. Just one negative, and Erin herself describes it, the condo is in the flight line of San Diego International airport. It is quiet from 11:30 PM until 6:30 AM, but bring earplugs if you want to sleep longer! I would definitely book her place again if I were to return to San Diego.
The host canceled this reservation 28 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Great location. We didn't spend too much time at the condo as it was a busy weekend for us, but we slept well and the condo was comfortable.
Erin was quick to respond to my questions and double checked to make sure our family would be comfortable at her place before confirming our conversation. Her place looked just like the pictures posted and the location was close enough to walk and grab a quick bite or groceries. The condo is in the air path for flights leaving San Diego Int. Airport so be prepared to be woken up around 6:30am or bring ear plugs. We used Erin's place for a quick weekend trip so we really only showered and slept there. The location was great and not far from Old Town, Mission Beach, Downtown San Diego and many other popular sites.
Erin's place was lovely and so clean! It was wonderful to stay there, many wonderful touches. Our daughter had plenty of room in the bunk bed, Erin left a great info sheet for us. We had a great time.
Travelling with a toddler is very different, so I was looking for accommodations that would make our travels easier. Found that with Erin's condo! There was a crib, toys and books, booster seat, rocking chair, blackout curtains - lots of little things that you'd only think about when you've got a little one.
The location was very central - most attractions were within 20 minutes away. We had an early morning flight out, but we were only 10 minutes from the airport. Though being so close did mean there was a lot of aircraft noise, but it didn't bother us nor disturb our sleep.
The street the condo is on isn't very well lit, but there isn't a ton within walking distance anyway so it wasn't a big deal.
Erin's place was perfect for us. We were literally 5-10 minutes from everything we wanted to see in San Diego (Zoo, Seaworld, Balboa Park, Dog Beach, Cliffs, Castillo National Monument).
It was also great that she has a young daughter so we were able to stay in a kid friendly place with toys, a crib, books for bedtime reading, etc. I'd definitely like to stay there again next time we visit San Diego.
