About this listing
Private room in clean, cozy, friendly space with self-serve breakfast located in a old, funky neighbourhood 30 minutes to downtown by public transit. Walking distance to fun restaurants , fabulous cafés and parks, farmers markets, and more.
the front garden awaits your visit. Sit on the bench on the porch, watch people pass, and smell the flowers. The porch gets late afternoon light.
Beautiful old but well-maintained home with lots of light, brightly coloured walls, cool antiques and lots of character. Hardwood floors throughout with high ceilings. The house is filled with lots of funky antiques, great books everywhere (odd/old books too), and yummy smells from something simmering on the stove. The house is very clean (all hardwood), and pet-free. A back patio and lush backyard garden are available for resting when you come home from your busy day in the city. There is also a private front porch with ferns and flowers to sit and have a cup of tea.
The room is clean and comfortable. A studio-double futon provides a comfortable sleep, and a TV with a wide selection of DVDs is also available for use, from independent movies to bad b-side comedies. There's a magazine rack that used to be my grandparent's with reading material on Toronto, magazines, and walking maps of the city.
The room is an ideal size for one person.
When you're here, you have access to the kitchen (cook a meal!), the front porch (watch the rain with tea), the back patio, backyard and bbq (put your feet up!) and any communal space.
The bathroom is shared with one other person, your lovely host (me).
***A simple self-serve breakfast is offered daily, so everything is provided at no extra cost. Yogurt, granola, cereals, fresh fruit, tea, or coffee - your choice! A wide selection of teas are available any time***
Wifi available along with towels; linens; iron and ironing board. Laundry available (however, it is in the basement, and I will need to do it for you).

Interaction with Guests
The house is shared by two young artsy, working professionals in their early 30s. I will greet you on your arrival to make sure you're set-up, comfortable, and to answer any questions you may have.
I love this city, and can recommend transit, local restaurants, things to do, great art to take in, and neat/cool/quirky places to check out. I'm up for a chat over a cup of tea or glass of wine, but also cool if we don't see each other much. There are lots of books around the house - feel free to flip through them and get inspired.
The house is located just north of Leslieville (a ten minute walk) - an up and coming hip neighbourhood in the east end. Close walking distance to parks, seasonal farmers markets (May-Oct), bike trails, restaurants, *fantastic* coffee shops, shopping, independent cinemas, and more recently, some new bars. Also within walking distance: Greek Town, Chinatown East and Little India.
Care to check out the beach?! The Beaches (long board walk, and white sand) are a 15-20 minute bike ride away, or a leisurely walk.
Desiring a sunset or city skyline view? The sunsets over Riverdale Park are some of the best in the city, and across from a fantastic cafe. Just down the street!
The house is approximately 25-30 minutes downtown by public transit (depending on where you are going within the downtown core). Walking distance to 4 streetcar lines (college; dundas; king and queen) and the subway (pape station). On street permit parking (City of Toronto) available for an approx $24/week - please ask for daily city rates. I can also recommend places to rent a bicycle if you want to explore on two wheels.

Sarah was an impeccable host she was very instrumental in providing Tour/Transportation info. SHE GOES BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY TO HELP. Her home is very inviting it is in a great centralized location and very comfortable . She will be at the top of my list for future trips to Toronto. I WOUD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HER! ALICIA
Sarah was a fantastic hostess who gave me lots of great recommendations of things to do and places to get great maple syrup. I loved the brickworks in particular! Her house is very welcoming and very close to lots of the main streetcars which are my favourite way to get around Toronto! I highly recommend staying with Sarah if you get a chance!
Sarah was very welcoming and friendly - the room is lovely and bright and breakfast was great! Her house is full of books, which I loved, and it was really enjoyable spending time with her. The neighbourhood is nice with a grocery store just behind the house and good transport links. I had a wonderful time and it made my visit to Toronto even better! Thank you Sarah :)
It was so lovely to host Daisy! Daisy came for just short of 3 weeks to do some volunteering in the city/neighbourhood. She was always up for a good chat, had a sparkly energy, and was very respectful of the space. I'd be happy to host her again! Best of luck with your travels Daisy and thank you thank you thank you for the very kind card! so sweet!
I want to thank Sarah for everything. I stayed for only one night and arrived late but she was kind enough to wait for me (even changing the time of her show ticket, I am so sorry) and showed me around her beautiful and colorful house, giving me all the guidelines so that I can feel comfortable being at her place. The room was very cozy, warm, clean, and neatly decorated. Just as the photo shows. Next morning, I was busy packing things and almost forgot my laptop but Sarah kindly called me to settle things down and also called taxi for me. I thank Sarah for helping me out and her generosity and kindness. I highly recommend staying at her sweet home.
Highly recommended. I had a wonderful time in Toronto with Sarah. Her house is really wonderful and the room is super. Nice comfortable bed! Though Sarah went through an unexpectedly extremely busy time when I was with her, she was always in for a chat or willing to help me whenever I needed it. The neighbourhood is wonderful, with all the shops you need close by. Public transport is easily accessible.
Sarah was an amazing host: the room was a fantastic, cozy space that felt like a relaxing and pleasant enclave from my busy schedule. She made so many things so easy, like giving me a description of the various modes of public transportation in the area so that I felt I had the freedom to move around in any direction. I knew Toronto beforehand, but had never been on the East end, and it's a great place to go to! She gave some great recommendations for eating and such and was so enthused about it. I hope our paths cross again! Also, the self-serve breakfast is a great perk that is not short-changed. It was fantastic to have that kind of morning routine and tasty too!
Staying at Sarah's place was just perfect: a nice room, bathroom, atmosfere, neighborhood... Sarah is reaaally kind, helps you looking for nice places to eat, to visit... Or just practical stuff - like printing a boarding pass ;)
