My husband, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and I all stayed at the Star of the North Suite at the end of the first day of the Seattle to Portland bike ride. It was truly an amazing place. Gabriel the dog greeted us as we drove up, not with barks but by coming up and lying down in front of the car waiting to be petted. Kat and Don came out to meet us and show us around. The suite has an intensely luxurious main bedroom, incredible artwork, a comfortable and spacious second bedroom and a spa bathtub that was most welcome after a day of riding. My favorite room was the dining area, where the open window let in the sound and positive ions from the waterfall below. We barbecued salmon and steak in the private back garden where Kat encouraged us to use her fresh herbs and vegetables as accompaniments. Then we ate on the outside deck with a view of the water and sunset, while hummingbirds flew around us. I was up with the sun the next morning and took my coffee on the deck, again with hummingbirds, Gabriel, the cat Gizmo and the stunning view and serenity of birdsong around me. Totally sybaritic. Highly recommended.
