About this listing
Original independent house of 19th century, was renewed in 2009. The interiors are bright and connected to each other; the entrance is from the kitchen – then a small access room leads to the bath room with shower and to the sleeping zone that features a double size bed with mosquito net and a comfortable walk-in closet.
A stair leads up to the mezzanine- living room with a wide glass door opened on the terrace facing the Jonian Sea.
Facing east and at the ground floor of a courtyard of one of the eldest side of the old town, the house has been recently restored enhancing the sea view and the sunrise to enjoy from the small but comfortable terrace as well as from the living room.
At the back of the sumptuous Cathedral square of Acireale and the astonishing beauty of the baroque church of S.Sebastiano, our house is the ideal spot for a holiday made of art and nature; the historical centre and its variety of restaurants and Pizzerie, the daily outdoor fish&fruit market are all at just 5 minutes walking distance while a 17th century walking path, crossing the lush green Natural Preserve of “La Timpa”, leads down to the sea side and to the charming fishing village of Santa Maria la Scala. Do not forget goggles and fins!...amazing depths perfect for snorkeling!!
Here you will also find good fish restaurant and the super good "granita" at Bar La Timpa. "Granita" is a sort of slush that Sicilian have as breakfast at summer time. We eat it with bread or a brioche.
MORE ABOUT GOOD FOOD.....
we recommend to have a pizza at Pizzeria Bambudda at the end of Via Chianello (10 min walking).
To do not miss "Bar Cipriani" (200 meters form your apartment)....any kind of typical Sicilian sweet or salty snacks. Try "arancini" (rice ball) and of course their "granita".
Upon request it is possible to have lunch or dinner in our EcoFarm located on the sloop of Mt. Etna. Meals are based mostly on our product (30 € per two persons, basic menu). You will find a choice of different menu at home, or you can discuss your tailor made menu directly with us. Every meal will start with a testing our Extra virgin Olive oil and Etna red wine! bellissima vacanza nella deliziosa e accogliente casa di Angelo e Cristina. a 2 passi dal centro di Acireale e vicina a posti bellissimi di quella incantevole isola....
Cristina made us extremely welcome on arrival, and it was not a problem that we arrived quite late. She gave us enough information and local recommendations, including a good map without bombarding us. She also recommended a fantastic restaurant for our first night which started our holiday off wonderfully. The house was extremely clean and had lots of lovely quirky features, and was in a great location for exploring the coast.
We would both highly recommend their house to anyone wishing to see the real Sicily. Thanks again Cristina and Angelo
We loved Cristina and Angelo’s house from day one. It is spacey and designed with every attention to detail. The terrace is simply perfect! BTW, we almost didn’t notice the trains passing by from time to time, since the railway is not that close to the house as it may seem from the pictures. The whole house is well equipped with everything you may need during your vacation. Angelo and Cristina made us feel very welcome and explained everything in detail about the house after our arrival.
Acireale proved to be a good starting point for trips to Taormina, Catania and even Syracuse, which we enjoyed most from all towns that we visited on Sicily. Acireale is neither too big nor too small and it offers quite a lot of places to eat out. Also, we always found a parking space for our car in the neighborhood, no matter the hour.
We would definitely recommend the house to our friends!
We had a lovely stay in the apartment in Acireale. The pics on this site perfectly show how lovely the flat is - comfy, spacious, well designed and a lovely terrace overlooking the sea. The hosts were very helpful and friendly, and even arranged for someone to pick us up from Catania airport to bring us to Acireale (would recommend this/getting a taxi as Acireale station is 20 min walk from the apartment). We don't drive so used public transport to get to Taormina and Catania. Taormina is stunning, and Isola Bella is a stunning beach. There is a really nice lido beach bar called lido La Pigna, which possibly served us some of the tastiest (simple and caters well for veggie and vegans too)food of our hols! In Catania it is definitely worth visiting the biggest wine cellar in Southern Italy called Il Cantiniere where you can try before you buy. Back in Acireale, La Cipriani is a staple people watching place to sip coffee and eat Granita. We had a couple of really good meals in Al Ficodindia for pizza and pasta. Great fish can be had in the restaurant next to Cipriani. We also loved hanging with the locals in cafe El Dorado and also wandering the fish and veg markets in the morning. Such a relaxing break, and definitely also worth going to Santa Maria della Scala which isn't too far a downhill walk from the apartment. Acireale has a community spirit and as we visited slightly out of season it was not touristy and at times we were the only ones in restaurants, but this wasn't an issue for us. To summarise, a great location to explore this side of Sicily along with stunning views of Etna, and a lovely well designed and clean place to stay! Highly recommended!
We liked this place a lot! The kitchen was well equipped, the apartment is really spacious, colorful, with a lot of wood and many self made(I guess)solutions. We had a feeling we live there and not just sleep - because of details, individual furniture, books.
The location is good for those who don't want to stay in Catania, but would like to reach all the nice things in this area of Sicily. It is quiet in the evening, supermarket is in a short walking distance and from the terrace you can see the sea.
