Sicilian House between Etna and Sea

House - Entire home/apt · Via Angelo Raffaele, Acireale, Sicily 95024, Italy

The Space

Original independent house of 19th century, was renewed in 2009. The interiors are bright and connected to each other; the entrance is from the kitchen – then a small access room leads to the bath room with shower and to the sleeping zone that features a double size bed with mosquito net and a comfortable walk-in closet.
A stair leads up to the mezzanine- living room with a wide glass door opened on the terrace facing the Jonian Sea.

Facing east and at the ground floor of a courtyard of one of the eldest side of the old town, the house has been recently restored enhancing the sea view and the sunrise to enjoy from the small but comfortable terrace as well as from the living room.

At the back of the sumptuous Cathedral square of Acireale and the astonishing beauty of the baroque church of S.Sebastiano, our house is the ideal spot for a holiday made of art and nature; the historical centre and its variety of restaurants and Pizzerie, the daily outdoor fish&fruit market are all at just 5 minutes walking distance while a 17th century walking path, crossing the lush green Natural Preserve of “La Timpa”, leads down to the sea side and to the charming fishing village of Santa Maria la Scala. Do not forget goggles and fins!...amazing depths perfect for snorkeling!!

Here you will also find good fish restaurant and the super good "granita" at Bar La Timpa. "Granita" is a sort of slush that Sicilian have as breakfast at summer time. We eat it with bread or a brioche.

MORE ABOUT GOOD FOOD.....
we recommend to have a pizza at Pizzeria Bambudda at the end of Via Chianello (10 min walking).

To do not miss "Bar Cipriani" (200 meters form your apartment)....any kind of typical Sicilian sweet or salty snacks. Try "arancini" (rice ball) and of course their "granita".

Upon request it is possible to have lunch or dinner in our EcoFarm located on the sloop of Mt. Etna. Meals are based mostly on our product (25 € per two persons, basic menu). You will find a choice of different menu at home, or you can discuss your tailor made menu directly with us. Every meal will start with a testing our Extra virgin Olive oil and Etna red wine! The farm is 25 min drive distance.

ABOUT PARKING.....
even if we are located in the historical center, parking is not a problem (but better to rent a small car).In a range of max 300 meters you can find 3 small squares, many side streets and a big public parking place.

ABOUT DO NOT HAVE A CAR......
if you are looking for a holiday without a car, this is the right place to do it.

We can pick up\drop of you from Catania's airport and once in Acireale, everything is walking distance, included bus stop to main destination.

  • Nice and cosy place in the center of Acireale. The apartment is spacious, clean and very well equipped. Also Christina and Angelo were very helpful and welcoming guests.

Although parking is not very easy and sometimes we missed to have wifi we had a pleasant stay and would recommend the hosts and the place without any hesitation.

keep up the kindness and the good work.

    best regards from Berlino!

  • We enjoyed a 8 night stay at this house in Acireale from which we made several daytrips along the east coast.

The house is located in one of the narrow sidestreets of Acireale. It is a couple of minutes walk uphil into the Acireale Centre, for us a very convenient location.

We were welcomed by both Cristina & Angelo who sat down with us and explained us everything about the house, Acireale and the surroundings.

This house is very tastefull decorated and really feels like a home. All needed amenities were there, we were very happy with the washing machine and of course with the balcony with wonderfull views over the sea.

There is a pathway from the house down to the pebble beach which we only took once since the pathway (in 30+ degrees) is quite steep and the pebble beach was dirty and covered in garbage. A bit more to the little fishing harbour there is also a Lido build on the rocks which we found more convenient, there is also plenty parking around there.

We chose Acireale purely for its central location on the eastcoast (Siracusa&Taormina), but there is also quite a bit of shopping to do in Acireale itself. Furthermore we had some excellent (and cheap!) dinners in several of the restaurant in Acireale.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay in this great holiday house.
