Interaction with Guests
I will welcome you as though you were family and you can let me know how much you want to interact. I'll let you take the lead -- I'm open for conversation and if you seem to be too - we'll take it from there. If you are busy and out the door dusk to dawn, or quietly tucked away in your room, I'll probably just be courteous and give you space and privacy. Sometimes I'm busier than other times - work and such. I may invite you to join me if friends or family are over for dinner or to go out. Or even for a day trip if I've the time. I don't want you to feel obligated to engage other than basic courtesy, but know that on my end, I'm open to friendship.
It has everything!! Zilker park, swimming, parks for kids, nice grade school, 4 groceries nearby, restaurants, pubs, coffee houses.
So convenient. Just a one block walk to a bus. 15 minutes downtown, approx. the same to UT on the express bus.
This is my home and I would appreciate knowing as much about you, My Guest, as possible, therefore, if you are new to airbnb, it is a good idea to have (website hidden) friends write you a reference. This site tells you how, and you can see, I did that, before I had any guests. RECYCLE and COMPOST. NO SMOKING, DRUGS OR EXCESSIVE ALCOHOL ANYWHERE. Pet possible with discussion and deposit. Please feel welcome in the dining/kitchen area for your meals. You may eat in your room if you clean up after yourself. Please use tissues/makeup remover rather than my white washcloths to remove makeup. Please sleep under, not on top of the comforter, or take it off the bed. Lock both doors when you leave! You know, all the stuff your mother told you! :-) And please let me know if you have questions or requests and be sure to read my ad if you question what I provide and ask me if you need clarification. I want you to be comfortable and happy with your accommodations.
Barbara made my daughter and I feel very welcome. The room was in fact cozy, as advertised, and our host was friendly and accommodating--and the location was perfect, convenient for my needs. I forgot to ask her whether there was WiFi hookup, so I missed having that service, but otherwise all was very comfortable.
Barbara was a great host ! We didn't get to see each other often, she's quite busy with work. Her place is very cosy and in a fantastic location. Next time I'm in Austin I'll definitely stay there again!
Thanks Barbara !
What a nice host Barbara is! She made us feel welcome and wanted us to feel "at home" from the minute we walked in the door! She went out of her way to write a list of possible sights to see in the Austin area, gave us restaurant recommendations, even invited us to go to a movie with her and bought eggs for our breakfast. Even though we would be sharing the shower in the bathroom, she made it clear that it was our bathroom and she would work around our schedule. We felt very at home with her and had a great time discussing books and movies.
The room was clean and spacious and even though she has a cat, the house felt very clean. We loved the location, so close to downtown. It made touring Austin that much easier.
Barbara hosted my partner and I for a month and we had a wonderful experience! The house is clean, comfortable, and in a great location - close to everything in the city. Barbara is a phenomenal host - kind, friendly, and is very conscientious of her guest's needs. We enjoyed our time cooking various raw meals together - especially the sushi! All in all, if you're looking for a comfy space, in a great area, with an easy-going roomie for a short or long term stay, then Barbara's place is perfect for you!
What can I say? I stayed at Barbaras place for two months. From the first day I felt like visiting a friend. If you are looking for a room in Austin with the most awesome host, the coziest home and the perfect neighborhood, make a stitch in time and save nine, i.e., book now. Unless you don't like funny shaped cats, this is the best place. Thank you so much Barbara!
Mal im Ernst: best place ever.
I miss the cat by the way...
Everything was perfect about this place. Barbara is a fantastic host. She was willing to answer questions, offer help, and provide breakfast. She really did open up her home to us. The place was very clean and fit her description accurately. We were there for Austin City Limits, and we could not have picked a better location. It is close enough to bus stops and main roads to to get to Zilker park or if you want to get to downtown. I would most certainly stay there again.
About the Host, Barbara
I was raised in the midwest but have lived in Idaho, Utah, and now Austin for the last 15 years. I work as a nurse, and enjoy biking, yoga, and photography. I studied film at the University of Utah and then moved to Austin when I became a Grandma. I have most recently expanded my nursing into an area I truly believe in: holistic healing. I work at a holistic healing center in the Austin area that I am very excited about. We focus on mind, body and spirit, and consider what we do to be truely "health" care, rather than traditional western medicine, which is based more on "disease" care. I'd love to share an organic smoothie with you!
Walking distance, quaint little place. Friendly, and of course, great coffee. They have a good sized outdoor area where there is often live music. Oh, and they also have beer!
Vegetarian right in the neighborhood. Has a few groceries if you don't want to go far. Gluten free desserts and whole wheat cookies. I love their tamales.
Great selection of beers, brewed on site! Casual, fun-- large handmade picnic tables- good appetizers too.
It's just a basic bar but there's music every night. Just under one mile from my place. Bob Schneider is a regular there.
Organics, bulk foods and healthy dining all under one roof!
Many organics and natural foods.Small and easy to navigate. Also will make you a smoothie. Best prices in the area - not as reliable in produce. It's now called "Sprouts".
Running shoes/clothes - join others for runs several times per day and free yoga at 8:00 and 10 am on Sundays.
Its got everything you need in the natural grocery category. There is often live music on the weekends. You can eat a meal there as well.
As the name implies.....yoga all the time. Many class times so if it's spur of the moment they'll have a class for you.
