Enjoy a wonderful weekend at Mike, Laura's (and Piper's) shared apartment with balcony and kitchen access. We are within steps of fantastic landmarks, cafes, shops and dining. Getting around town is simple with Bike rentals and buses right down the street.
Available for extended weekends, up to a maximum of 14 days. Mike and Laura (and sweet 2 year old puppy, Piper) have an extra bedroom with a Queen Size bed ( for up to 2 people), big storage closet. The bedroom is set in the front of the apartment, so you'll have a lot of privacy when we are home, but are welcome to hangout in the Living room/TV room/Reading room/Kitchen.
For Daily/Weekly visitors, we'll provide some extras for your kitchen (juice, milk, bread, fruit, coffee) and bathroom use (soaps, shampoo/conditioner, towels, hair dryer).
When the weather allows, the back terrace is a wonderful place that most of our guests just love to hangout and read a book or just watch the neighborhood in action.
You'll have your own shelf in the refrigerator for any personal groceries...all guests are welcome to make food in the kitchen, we just ask that you clean up after each meal.
Let us know if you have a regular bathroom schedule during the week...we both may be up early on the weekdays getting ready around 6:30-7:30am.
Interaction with Guests
We love suggesting places to go and would be happy to hangout if you would like to trade stories and experiences. Mike and Laura work long hours during the week, so you'll have a lot of private time to relax or play with Piper if you want ( otherwise she takes naps in her crate when we are out of the house). Mike walks her every few hours during the day. We may keep her in our bedroom overnight, so she doesn't bother you when you come and go.
We'll be around in the evenings and most weekends, so let us know if you have questions while you're here and if our schedules match up we may be up for getting some pizza with our guests!
Piper is still a happy, playful and curious puppy, so we'll do our best to keep her away from your room while you're here. We advise keeping the bedroom door shut, just to avoid the normal dog behavior of sniffing around.
Ukrainian Village / West Town is a beautifully tree-lined neighborhood, with ornate churches, large historic homes, delicious food, fun bars, nightclubs, cafes, shopping...We've got maps!
Hot breakfast is available at Sunrise Cafe, which is just down the street. Also check out Feed, Dark Matter (coffee), Bite, Whisk, Roots Pizza.
BIKE: walk to the corner and rent a Divvy Bike for $7 (exchange the bike every 30 minutes throughout the city and you'll have a bike all day).
BUS: Walk across the street and get the bus that takes you all the way to Lake Michigan and Navy Pier. Along the way, get off the bus at the Blue/Brown/Red Line trains, John Hancock Building, Magnificent Mile, Water Tower Place, Northwestern University Campus and many other fun places.
3. BLUE LINE TRAIN is a 15-20 minute walk down Chicago ave. Taxis are very easy to pick up anywhere in the neighborhood and is the best way to get here from the Midway/O'Hare airports. Taxis from the airports are typically around $30-$35. Taxi from downtown to our apartment is only $10-$12.

It was nice to get to know Laura and Mike. We had a good weekend and it's very easy to go downtown from their flat. Thank you!!
Had a good time living with Michael, Laura, and Piper. Ukrainian Village is a nice area and a 15 minute walk to Wicker Park. I also walked downtown quite a few times and it took about 45 minutes to an hour depending on distractions.
Having the Marianos across the road is amazingly convenient, there's a great burger/hot dog/shrimp place a couple blocks west 'Fatso's Last Stand'.
My girlfriend and I stayed at Michael & Laura's place for Labor Day weekend. Michael and Laura are great hosts! Both of them are very nice and they supplied us with anything we needed. They had some toiletries and maps of the city handy for us which really came in handy. We used the bike system and it helped to know where all the bike stations were.
The home was very clean and big. We didn't spend too much time in the apartment because we were out doing stuff, but if we did need to spend some time there it would have been relaxing.
The location of the apartment is in the Ukranian Village which is very close to Wicker Park and Bucktown. They are one block away from a bike rental system. I highly suggest renting bikes. It's a great way to see the city. We didn't fight for parking either. Definitely a great apt and great hosts.
Friendly, hospitable, helpful and discrete, Michael and Laura were great hosts for my two day visit in Chicago. The apartment and my room were clean and comfortable, residing at a quite convenient location for anyone who wants to venture in interesting neighborhoods close to downtown. Thank you guys! See you soon!
The best thing about this place is its amazing location. You have restaurants, bus stop, ATM, mall all at your doorstep. Room is clean and spacious. Micheal and Laura are great hosts and help you out with problems. Kitchen is well equipped. The balcony with seating helps you relax if you had a tough day.The only thing which is little annoying is traffic sounds, because this room is right at the street. Anyway this is little price to pay for all the advantages it has. I enjoyed my stay and recommend this place to others.
Mike and Laura are excellent hosts. I spent a very nice time with them and their lively dog Piper. The room is clean and exactly as described.
Michael and Laura were great hosts, always attentive and nice. The place was super clean and we fell in love with their dog. I would recommend this place to a friend.

We are currently renting 1 room in a great neighborhood (Ukrainian Village) in Chicago. It's 3.3 miles northwest from downtown. Mike works in 'The Loop', 3 days a week, and just opened his Massage Therapy Office a couple doors away from the house. Laura has moved to Chicago from Philly in June 2013, she's a Project Manager in the City and Suburbs....
We have a new puppy, Piper... she's pretty sweet and playful. She doesn't bark much, and likes to jump, lick and be petted. Please let us know if you have any issues with dogs.
Our neighborhood has bike rental stations ( $7) within 2 blocks from our home, the train to downtown is nearby (walk or bus straight down the street..get downtown in about 30 minutes). Enough about us for now... tell us about yourself!
