About this listing
Hi! Welcome to my custom home in La Pine. My home backs up to acres of Ponderosa pine forest. I call it a retreat because it is so peaceful here you can hear a pine needle drop! My guests tell me they get a good night's sleep and love the Starbucks coffee and Belgian waffles with fresh strawberries.
I rent out two rooms. The BEARied Treasure guest room has a queen log bed and dresser, quality linens, and a foam mattress topper. The guest full-bath just across the hall has a vintage clawfoot tub and shower.
Also available is the Wickiup guest room featuring a queen Old Hickory furniture set with a patchwork quilt, and a twin bed with denim comforter. Both guest rooms are on the main floor. No deposit or cleaning fee charged here. A $200 per week special rate is available for a solo traveler.
Kitchen access is provided for cooking. Two shelves in the fridge and a tray in the freezer are reserved for guest use. The great room and TV loft are also shared. Services include: Wi-Fi high-speed internet, Dish Network TV, and The Bend Bulletin.
Two-and-a-half indoor/outdoor felines share my home. Our country forest neighborhood is an eclectic mix of vacation and full-time residence homes each on 1/2+ acre leaving plenty of room for parking.
Guests have found my home a convenient stopover for traveling to or from Crater Lake National Park. You may want to stay an extra night after viewing the online Guide map I have prepared for you below. It summarizes my many picks for local sightseeing, entertainment, restaurants, bars, and shopping.
The Newberry Caldera-Paulina Lake area is where Reece Witherspoon filmed part of the movie "Wild". Release date: 12/5/14! La Pine is 29 miles south of Bend and offers most services.
Most of the time the guest bathroom is a private bath, but at times both rooms are rented.
I do not smoke. If you must, smoke at the outside fire pit.
Please be considerate of my cats.
Children are welcome, but my home is not child proofed.
If you would like a fire, ask Linda to build one.
You may use my kitchen appliances and utensils.
Please ask before using the washer and dryer.
Please wear soft-soled shoes to protect the bamboo floors.
We use a septic tank. With the exception of paper, please do not flush anything inorganic.
Quiet time is after 11 PM and before 7 AM.
Many guests ask to arrive late due to distant drives. Please try to check-in before 9 PM. My place is a lot easier to find in daylight!
My bedroom and bath are private to me. They are upstairs beyond the shared lava loft.
Thank you and enjoy your stay!
Linda and her home were both wonderful! The guest room was perfect- clean and comfy, we slept so well especially knowing that Linda had offered up homemade waffles in the morning. The breakfast and coffee were delicious and fueled us for a long day of driving. I would recommend Linda and her home to anyone!
Linda was very accommodating to our late arrival as we had gone to the Newberry festival and did not get in until 11PM.
Linda was great! She waited up until 1:00 a.m. for us to arrive so she could greet us and show us to our lovely decorated room. The home is very peaceful set back into the lovely smelling pine trees. The waffles the next morning were delicious and Linda even told us of all the things to see and do around the area. This is a wonderful stop both in the summer for vacationers and in the winter for the avid skiier!
Our experience at Linda's house was great. She met us at the door, showed us our room, filled us in on logistics, and then sent us off. Our room was fairly small, but the bed was comfy, and the shared bathroom was across the hall. There was another couple staying there as well, which worked out to our advantage as, once we had acquainted ourselves with each other, they encouraged us to check out Crater Lake and even gave us their pass. All in all, great experience priced right!
Linda is pretty great. Her house is beautiful, wish I could have stayed longer and enjoyed the forest a bit more. Linda was a gracious and accommodating host, filled with knowledge and advice about the area, and even made breakfast. What more can one ask for? Thanks, Linda!
Linda was a fantastic host! Her beautiful, quiet home is the perfect place to crash after a busy day in Crater Lake. She was incredibly helpful with recommendations of things to nearby and her waffles were unbelievable. Highly recommended!!
This was our first experience with Airbnb and it was absolutely flawless. My boyfriend and I were looking for a nice place to stay between Crater Lake and Bend and Linda's was perfect. She was a gracious host with a beautiful home. It felt very safe and clean and comfortable. I will be staying here again and suggesting it to others looking for a nice place to stay in the area.
**It is a little off the beaten path, but that was part of the charm for us. Make sure you follow Linda's directions and not Google/Apple maps.

About the Host, Linda
Born in Montana, raised on the Oregon coast. I lived and worked a year in Seattle, but mostly Eugene was my home for more than 30 years before moving to La Pine in December 2011. This forested home, the drier climate, and everything there is to do and see year round in Central Oregon was what brought me here. (Please see the online guide map). I enjoy boating, hiking, sightseeing, winter sports, and relaxing here in the forested countryside. I call myself a "woodsy" because I feel most at home living around trees.
Hosting Airbnb provides me the opportunity to meet a variety of interesting travelers from around the world. My part-time flexible work and volunteer schedules allow me the time to help guests get their day started by serving breakfast and assisting with itinerary planning, as much or as little as they would like.
I am a budget-minded traveler and offer an affordable alternative to motels on the highway. When I travel I want a safe, clean, quiet, comfortable place to sleep, shower, and eat. All this is provided to you as my guests plus travel tips from someone that has been there to help your stay be more enjoyable.
