This beautiful 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment is the first floor of my house. I rent it out when I don't have family or other guests visiting. It is located in the hills of Mill Valley, just a few minutes (10-15 minutes) from downtown and very close to a vast array of trials for hiking, mountain biking (website hidden). Tamalpais is just a 10 minute walk through sun drenched redwood lined streets.
There is one large bedroom in the apartment but there is an extra queen size bed (big foldout flat day bed) that can be used in the living room to accommodate 2 more people for a total of four. Please note, however, that the apartment is ideal for 2 people as it has only one bedroom. Check out the photos, they tell the story!
The house was meticulously renovated from the studs out in 2011 and has a very relaxed and comfortable feel. It has a modern rustic vibe and offers all of the amenities and advantages of modern living. I live upstairs and am very quiet and respectful of guests and spend most of the day in the city.
The apartment features a private entrance and garden area with amazing hillside views (Mt. Tamalpais and surrounding hills) and a BBQ. There is plenty of street parking and it's just a short walk up the driveway to the apartment.
The apartment has WIFI (you'll be given password upon arrival)
Living room features:
Large sofa (converts into full size bed)with floor pillows, blankets
7.1 Dolby surround music system

Lovely contemporary ground floor apartment in beautiful, tranquil hills of Mill Valley. Congenial hosts in this extremely well appointed home-away-from-home. Extremely clean and very comfortable surroundings. Every need anticipated and provided for. We will be back!
I enjoyed my stay at Algy's! His place is very neat, spacious, and true to the pictures and descriptions provided on this page. The local neighborhood is also beautiful, surrounded by nature. You could hear bit of noise from upstairs from time to time, but it wasn't bothersome and overall the place was very private. Many thanks!
Listing looks even better in person, and has everything you need for a perfect quick getaway!
Beautiful space for our one night getaway. Algy was easy to communicate with and the space has a great feel to it. We essentially had a whole floor to ourselves, which is decorated so nicely- felt very private and the huge tv and netflix made it super cozy too..all and all great spot and would recommend it for a getaway from the city.
We loved staying at this apartment in Mill Valley. It was incredibly spacious and beautifully designed - the perfect place to relax after hiking all day. We had fantastic sleeps in that bed and all in all felt very spoiled. Would not hesitate to rebook the next time we visit. Many thanks to Algy!
Algy has a beautiful space in Mill Valley, perfect for access to the town and nearby hiking. He was a gracious and non-intrusive host. We had a great time!
Highly recommended! A wonderful stay! My best friend and I were here for four days on a mini vacation and it was absolutely perfect! The design of the house is impeccable with a modern and warm feel to it. The living room and bedroom are both very spacious, peaceful and quiet, as well as extremely clean. The kitchen was delightful and easy to use, offering everything we needed, not to mention a bottle of wine and an unlimited supply of coffee. The owner was so nice and informative, he told us to call or knock on the door if we needed anything, which we did and he was there. A truly kind individual.
I hope to be back!
The apartment was large but poorly designed. The kitchen did not have a hot plate and was poorly equipped. There was no dish detergent for example. For the whole time, we did not see the hosts, only the first night and very briefly. There is a really nice large TV but the remote control was too complicated to operate and he did not take the time to show us. The outside area to sit was not really suitable to use.
There was a bottle of wine left for us which was very nice. It is a quiet area and the apartment itself is quiet. There is no doubt that the house is being renovated and in time, it may be a very nice place.
Please see the photos and read the listing-this apartment is anything but poorly designed!
Had Joel and Juanita taken the time to read my listing they would have noticed that it specifically says no oven/stovetop. The kitchen is in fact well equipped (see the listing for details) and all the appliances are very new. I even include free Nespresso coffee for all guests as well as bottle of wine.
After their arrival I specifically asked them if they needed anything at all to just call/email/text or just knock-I'm just upstairs! I could have easily given them some dish detergent (which I forgot and for which I am sorry) as well as shown them how to use the TV. But they didnt contact me at all. If guests dont contact me I assume they want to be left to enjoy themselves. I value the privacy of guests.
As for the outside area it features a brand new BBQ and BBQ set, two lounge chairs and two tables as well as charcoal (which I provide). And a FANTASTIC view of Mt Tam!
Maybe because it rained while they were here they felt it was not usable?
Since being introduced to airbnb I have looked at hundreds of spaces. Algy's house in Mill Valley is without question my favorite. My friend was visiting for the week and everything about this place was perfect. It is extremely well designed. The heated bathroom floor is incredible-the large floor tiles are textured like leather and when they warm up it's divine! The media set up is great-you can easily plug you phone, ipad or laptop into the sound system & both the massive television in the living room as well as the flatscreen in the bedroom are hooked up to cable & easy to operate. We even printed our boarding passes before we left! The wifi is strong but at&t phone service is not. That's the deal in Mill Valley. This house is near the top of a series of steep winding roads, tucked into the hillside and very private. It was a privilege to have the opportunity to stay here. I use the motionx gps drive app on my phone and ipad and found it very helpful in getting around the maze of little streets but once you understand the area it's really easy to get around. We wanted to hike Muir Woods, Mount Tam, the coastal trails, hear live music at Sweetwater Music Hall & visit friends in Sausalito and Corte Madera. That's why we chose this ideal location. In 20 minutes we could drive to Golden Gate Park in the city and visit the museums. The kitchen is great-full size fridge that we stocked with fresh green juice from Juice Alley and groceries from Mill Valley Market, Whole Foods & Mollie Stone's. The Nespresso machine makes the best coffee ever - Algy very generously provided 2 full boxes of coffee pods and we used them all! There's an electric hot water kettle (essential for me & unusual to find in an american kitchen), panini machine & a toaster oven and as a chef that's all i needed. Sweetwater does a great brunch, Gira Polli has delicious wood fire rotisserie chickens for takeaway, try Kitti's Place for thai, Balboa Cafe for excellent mixed drinks and their burger, Sushi Ran for awesome sushi. Wander through town and get lost in all the charming boutiques. Check out Pharmaca, the local integrative pharmacy. I had the best therapeutic bodywork ever from Rick Kutten who's office is above Pharmaca. There's a reason Mill Valley is in the top 10 places to live in the United States. Even on a cool day we were able to sit out on the terrace at Algy's to read and get some sun because it is sheltered from the wind. There's even a barbeque grill! This home has been designed with a very European aesthetic, and each piece of furniture is beautifully chosen. This was the most important factor for me. Algy was a gracious host, patient when we got lost on the way there, and completely respectful of our privacy. I am extremely grateful to him....
Beautiful place, sleek, modern, comfortable and excellently designed. Walking distance from downtown Mill Valley and in a great area. Definitely the perfect home base for a weekend exploring Muir Woods, Mt. Tam and everything else in this gorgeous part of the country. I was just in town for a long weekend at the film festival so I didn't get to spend a lot of time here aside from sleeping but with a full kitchen, great living room I could've stayed here comfortably for much longer. Algy was great to deal with, highly recommended.
