We stayed here our first night in Dublin, and it was wonderful. Conveniently located- we found ourselves stopping in and out for the bathroom on our way through the city (not too many public restrooms). This is a great spot if you want to be in the middle of action of the city. Temple Bar can get very touristy, so you will be seeing a lot of out-of-towners, but it is a very fun and vibrant feel. The living room area looks out to the street, and it is very fun to see street-musicians from your window. We loved being above the Temple Bar; there was noise from the bar (people talking, music playing) but we didn't mind at all (in fact, we enjoyed it! We are from a city ourselves, so it felt like home :). The space is clean, and Nicolas was extremely helpful to us during our stay. Specifically, he helped us tremendously by offering to change our rental car reservation to a much more convenient one that was closer to our stay and that we could walk to on foot. I really appreciated that. He gave plenty of helpful advice, and even let me borrow some of his travel guides and maps (all which have been extremely helpful during our stay). We will be staying with Nicolas the last night of our trip, and we are definitely looking forward to it. If you want a comfortable stay that is conveniently located in the night-life section of Dublin, you won't be disappointed staying here. Nicolas (email hidden)!
Nicolas was flexible in checking me in late at night. The room was perfectly located, clean and tidy. All was simple and enjoyable.
During my trip to Ireland, I spent a few evenings renting a room from Nicolas. While not a luxury hotel, the location was perfect for enjoying Temple Bar, the bedroom was simple, comfortable and surprisingly quiet in this busy neighborhood, and it came at a great price. Nicolas was very nice, flexible with checkin, and very helpful with information for sightseeing.
Nicolas was very quick to respond to a late/last minute request. Unfortunately, he had to move me to another apartment during the middle of my stay - but made it up to me by giving me full compensation for my short stay of one night.
The location and price are the top reasons to book his place. It's less someone's living space, and really more of your own - like a hotel. Granted, it's not a 5 star hotel - but again - considering the location and price it's a real bargain.
The location of this place is great. Right above the Temple Bar. Lots of energy in the area and lots of things to do.
The unit was kind of run down. They were doing some maintenance while we were there but none of the doors have working locks except for the main door and one of the doors had a butter knife as a handle.
The reservation process was a bit cumbersome too.
This was my second stay in Nicolas apartment. It is not a ***** hotel but I liked it and for me it was perfect. Clean and a helpful housekeeper. Thanks a lot!
By the way - the location in the heart of temple bar district is great. Even if it is the more touristic part of the city - in the weekdays you will have a good atmosphere in the pubs located here.
We did not got to meet Nicolas but his house mate let us in the apartment. This happened very flexible. The place provided everything needed and located in the middle of the Temple Bar district it could not be more cental.
Great location, loved the ambiance of Temple Bar. Very central for everything in Dublin. Bed was extremely comfortable and kitchen/living room were quite nice. Only two complaints-wifi didn't really work in our room, and the shower on our floor wasn't working right. Nicolas worked very hard to fix these issues, so I give him a lot of credit.
Definitely recommend staying here, just perhaps inquire about the WiFi situation in your room beforehand.
Nicolas was a very welcoming helpful host during our stay, he's was great guy and I would highly recommend him to a non-fussy couple or group of friends looking to crash in Dublin for a couple of nights.
I stayed with my girlfriend and he provided us with great directions to the nearest food outlets and recommended a few of them to visit.
The accommodation itself was adequate for us, possibly could have been slightly cleaner and the bed was raised up quite high and difficult to climb onto despite the step ladder :)
Location was absolutely prime for going out, being above the main pub of the district.
I would therefore recommend this to anyone looking for a Dublin weekend away without a doubt :)
My best friend was visiting from the US and we were really just looking to get a good taste of Dublin for two nights. We were attracted to Nicolas' flat because of the generally positive reviews and location right above Temple Bar, allegedly one of the greatest pubs in Dublin. Nicolas provided a ton of great transport information before we arrived with several options that met our budget. He also rents out several properties so he was able to recommend that we switch to a different flat within the same building.
When we arrived it was a bit rainy but we used his directions (and one of his recommendations, the AirLink) to get to the flat. He'd said that his cleaning person may let us in, but he ended up letting us in as well. He did mention that the cleaning person was not doing such a great job and while the flat was all we needed as two guys who were going to be spending a lot of time in the pubs, it may not have been as ideal for my wife if she'd been travelling with me. The location did turn out to be amazing, Nicolas provided amazing recommendations as far as local tours and attractions (which we ended up doing and loving) and it was quiet at night when we wanted to get some rest. We were a bit worried about that part since it's above a bar (and on a crowded, noisy street in the popular temple bar area) but we really didn't hear a thing up in Flat #5.
THE ONLY NEGATIVE MARKS:
1. We did have a few issues with the washer/dryer in the kitchen being on the blink, but Nicolas was very responsive and kindly offered to have our clothes laundered while he thanked us for flagging that the machine needed repairing. It was great service! I still wanted to list this to be thorough.
2. A bit of a smoke smell throughout. Likely soaked in to the carpet by now but we didn't love that as non-smokers. The windows were older as well and might've been a bit drafty if it'd gotten colder while we were there.
3. Tiny cosmetic things: a butter knife making up one of the bedroom door handles, takes a good slam to close the front door, one of the windows in the living area was particularly hard to close, the boiler (whenever water turned on) was particularly loud.
