Our 5 bedroom, 3 bath house is located just a few feet away from Big Bear Lake and is available for the discounted rate of $400 per night during the summer and fall seasons.
The house is across the street from Pleasure Point Marina with a great view of the lake from most rooms. Two bedrooms have queen size beds, two bedrooms have full size beds and a fifth bedroom has a twin bed. In addition, there are four beds in one loft and three beds in a second loft for a grand total of 12 beds. Total capacity for the house is 14.
The house has an INDOOR jacuzzi, a game room (with bumper pool and air hockey and board games), high-speed WIFI, a massive rock fireplace in the living room, three TVs (with DVD's, and DirecTV), a full kitchen, a fully enclosed backyard with a patio and barbeque and a washer and dryer.
It is a great place for large families or groups to make special memories up at Big Bear.
I stayed here with a large group for a ski weekend, and the house was perfect! There was plenty of space for all of us, the kitchen was great for cooking, and the indoor hot tub was wonderful after a day on the slopes! The house was clean and in good condition, and the wi-fi and direct tv were a nice bonus. Ron was wonderful to work with- so quick to respond to any questions! I would definitely stay here again!
My group of friends (14 people) and I had an absolutely amazing time at Ron's cabin! Everything was as advertised and the space was perfect for such a large group... We had been worried about not having enough beds and a kitchen that would accommodate a group of our size, but that wasn't a problem at all with more then enough places to sleep and an extremely well stocked kitchen. Ron was an amazing host - answered questions I had in a timely manner and reached out to make sure our stay was going well while we were there. Really couldn't have asked for a better cabin to rent for a Friends Weekend - Plus the large, indoor Jacuzzi was such a nice treat!
We had a great time at Ron's Chalet. It was big enough and had a great layout that accommodated the needs of a fair sized co-ed youth group retreat. The east and west wing layout made gender privacy easy to enforce.
Everything was as advertised. Kitchen is well supplied, the house is clean and organized. Great location.
We will definitely consider this location for future Big Bear Retreats.
The Lakeview Chalet was a wonderful cabin that accommodated me and my friends for a January weekend. The restrooms were all updated and had a clean, modern feel with the living room and kitchen having a cozy feel; it was the perfect blend of coziness and modernism. The kitchen was very clean and was readily available with pots and pans, toaster, coffee maker, and an entire refrigerator for us to use. The indoor jacuzzi was a wonderful way to relax after a long day of skiing in the Snow Valley Resort (just 20 min drive from this cabin). It was also very clean since the jacuzzi self cleaned itself. What we appreciated the most was a letter to us when we arrived at the Lakeview Chalet. It gave us clear instructions on how to maintain the house and other activities we could do around Big Bear Lake. The view from the Lakeview Chalet was beautiful and the location was close to different restaurants and grocery stores if we need to do errands. The layout of the house was very nice and did not feel cramped at all. There was no complications and everything transitioned smoothly. I would definitely be going here again!
Ron was a great host. Answered any questions that we had for him. The house itself was very spacious and usually this is not the case, but we had extras bed this time around that were left unused. Right near the lake if you want to do any water activities as well as the mountain, which was our purpose for going out for the weekend. After hitting the slopes, using the hot tub was very enjoyable because it was actually hot and not just lukewarm which I have encountered at other places unfortunately. Overall, we had a great time! Thanks again Ron!
My friends an I had a great stay. Central location. Plenty of room and enough beds for everyone. Easy check in, check out process. Would recomend to anyone. Wish there were more paper towels and trash bags provided, only criticism I got. Thanks Ron
This house was everything we expected and more! Perfect location, beautiful home, comfortably slept 15 people. We went up here for a leadership retreat and everyone said it was the best retreat ever! House is close to multiple restaurants , next to the lake, and has a hot tub !! Also, short drive to snow summit and bear mountain ! If you are looking for a create place , stop looking and book this house ( you will not regret it)!
Excellent cabin and great location. Able to accommodate a large group.
Horrible experience...I don't know where to begin.
Problem 1) As soon as we got in we realized there was no hot water on one side of the house. After checking the water heater, the pilot was on and we turned it back on. On the other side of the house, the water was hot, but got cold after one person took a shower and Ron would not feel comfortable giving us the passcode to where the water heater was so we could make sure the setting was on hot. He claimed it was on hot when I called him, so I guess it is not just big enough to stay hot long for 2 people to take a shower. BTW, after we left, he claimed that we broke the pilot, but that was not the case!
Problem 2) we found moths flying around the house and in the bed sheets. First Ron claimed that yes that is possible and then after we left he claimed we brought this with us from LA in our clothing!
Problem 3) There were not enough toilet papers. Ran out by 2nd day!
Problem 4) One smoke detector on 2nd floor had no batteries! Not sure if there were others at all. There was no Carbon Monoxide detector that we could see. Not sure if not having this is legal in Big Bear, at least is illegal not to have this in rental properties in LA.
Problem 5) Some bed sheets had white dog hair. When we complained, Ron claimed we were told that it is a pet friendly house. Ok but this is not an excuse not to properly wash the bed sheets!
Problem 6) The restroom on the jacuzzi side does not lock and we used a chair to keep door locked
Problem 7) the jacuzzi area smells too much of solution. It seems it might be over used. Some of my friends could not sleep well because of the smell
Problem 8) This one is not an issue but there are several wasp nests in the back of the house. Ron claimed they are bird nests and the birds will come back in the spring! But they look like wasp to me!
Problem 9) In general we were not happy with the condition of the house and it seems it is not maintained well. I would say this is a 70's build house...it could benefit from some remodeling!
Problem 10) Ron claimed we left cigarette butts all over the front and back yard! Ok so maybe this happened and I apologize, but what an arrogant guy, instead of apologizing about all the issues we had, he is throwing a complaint back at us! I should add the the front yard is a mess, with dead pine tree leafs, a few cigarette butts would not be visible. Maybe if he placed some ash trays by the front and back yards, then people would not be trowing butts on the floor.
I'm sorry that Pierre and his family had a bad time at our home. We take great pride in our home and virtually all of our guests have had a great time here.
That said, Pierre and his family were the most horrible guests that we have ever hosted. They complained virtually from the moment they arrived. First, they complained was that the carpet smelled as soon as they walked in (it was brand new). Next, it was that the hot water heater was not hot enough (it was working fine earlier that day. Further, they "adjusted" the heater and broke a valve). They ripped a coat rack off the wall. They left bubble gum on our brand new carpet. They left hundreds of cigarette butts in our front and back yard (and then complained about the pine needles in the yard stating that the cigarette butts were not any uglier than the pine needles). They complained about moths in the house (it is impossible for moths to survive in Big Bear in the wintertime). They even complained about the swallows nests outside of the house claiming that the nests were wasp nests.
Please read all of our other reviews and hopefully you will see that our home, while not perfect, is a pretty nice place to stay.
We had a great time in the cabin! Thanks, Ron.
