Enjoy a campfire at the private upper fire ring or shared fire ring at the beach. The private beach is accessed via a short trail down the bluff, between the home residence & other cottage. Views across the water of the Olympic Mountains are stunning! Tolmie State Park is a stone's throw away, which has several miles of walking trails through the estuary and a place to launch your kayak if you’re a paddler. A private parking area is provided for 2 vehicles.

Though my family resides on the property, I live a short distance away. I am always a phone call away & able to come out to meet you should any concerns arise. Check-in is "self check-in", and you just let yourself into the house with the key code provided upon booking.

I’m an Olympian born & raised & keep lots of info on things to do in the area, and would be happy to give you personalized suggestions for exploring the town & area!

Have questions about tiny houses? I offer 1-hour consultation sessions to help you with your own plans in conjunction with your reservation for an additional $30. Just let me know you're interested at the time of booking.

The Neighborhood

Although very quiet & rural, the Bungalow is just an 8-minute drive from coffee shops, restaurants & grocers, and a quick 15-minute drive from artsy, whimsical downtown Olympia.

Other Things to Note

Unique features of the tiny house:
*Ceiling clearance in the kitchen is 6’ 2”.
**Climbing in and out of the loft bed on a narrow, steep ladder requires agility and balance. Please see the photos in this listing and consider whether you will be able to climb up and down from the loft without putting yourself in danger.

  • My daughter and I had a GREAT time in this quaint tiny house! The house provided everything we hoped for: a basic kitchen to make meals, a cozy place to play games and read, and a very comfortable sleeping loft. We loved the fact that it's placed so close to a wooded state park and we also took advantage of low tide to explore the coastline of the bay. It was close enough to Olympia to make it a simple trip to visit the farmers' market and all that downtown has to offer. Brittany was a very communicative host. We were in great hands and had a fabulous experience!

  • This place is a gem! My wife and I were excited to stay at a Tumbleweed house as part of our honeymoon, and were so happy with the experience. It's really amazing how efficient and well thought out the inside is. All the major amenities of home are covered, while the secluded location and fire pit give a bit of a "camping out" feel to things. The location of the house is wonderful- the shoreline is just down the hill while downtown Olympia is about a 10-15 minute drive away.

  • Our stay at the tiny house was perfect! Only an hour from Seattle the location of the property by the water feels worlds away. If you like what you see in the pictures you will love your time at the tiny house as Brittany did a great job capturing all of its charm. One of our favorite parts of the trip was our strolls on the beach with our coffee and our runs through the trails at the neighboring Tolmie State Park.

  • Brittany's beautiful tiny house in Olympia was exactly what my boyfriend, our pup and I needed on our road trip! We had three days of perfect solitude surrounded by stunning woodlands and beaches where we could walk the dog, do some cooking and generally ignore the outside world! Olympia is only a short drive away with great grocery stores recommended to us by Brittany as part of our tailored welcome package to the tiny house. Contrary to the airbnb description, the wifi works excellently (or at least it did for us!) which was an added bonus and there was plenty of hot water for easily two showers and some washing up each morning once the hot water was switched on for twenty minutes or so. The tiny house is not at all tiny, with ample space to cook a full meal and plenty of room in the loft for the two of us to sit and watch the stars through the skylight at night. This was certainly one highlight of our very long journey, and we would love to visit again!

  • Gosh, my stay at Brittany's tiny home was really neat!

The setting was quiet and beautiful. I loved exploring the area -- the beach and nearby Tolmie State Park provided great walks in the morning and late at night. I was digging the eerie sounds distant frogs were making from nearby ponds.

I also biked in the area. Nice, quiet, bucolic roads. I saw some horsies!

I slept very comfortably and soundly in the loft and loved gazing at the stars through the sky light. The place itself was kept in tip top shape. Little notes were discreetly posted throughout the place, gently directing me on how to get the most out of my tiny home adventure!

    Brava, Brittany -- brava!

  • I had seen shows about these and wanted to check one out in person. This one is extremely well-built and appointed. Personally, I couldn't live full-time in one, but it was great to get the opportunity give it a go. Brittany's notes all over the house made it very easy to figure out where things were and how they worked. The location by the state park and the ocean makes it a wonderful get back to nature weekend getaway. Given the location, cell and internet service is patchy at best. So if your work needs access to you, this will likely be a problem. I was lucky enough to be able to just turn my phone off for a bit. It's a very unique experience and it's definitely worth checking out.

  • This was by far the best overnight experience I have ever had. It felt like a home, very cozy and warm. I would do it again for the peaceful feeling and relaxation, as well as the reasoning behind it, (and that was to build a tiny house of my own). I would recommend this cozy bungalow to friends and family. It was an excellent way to get in touch with nature and myself:) I believe it would be lovely for couples as well. How romantic:)

  • Great place! Loved the tiny house and the area. Hope to book again!

  • My husband and I loved our stay! It was clean, and stocked with everything we needed to cook our own meals.

We even loved how it was decorated.

The location was perfect!!! I was amazed that a ten minute drive took us out of a quiet peaceful forest and into a bustling city that had delicious restaurants and all sorts of shopping.

We went for a walk to the park down the road and had a great time using the nature trails or just following the water along the beach.

The best thing about this trip was getting to experience living in a fencl! We now know that we both can live in one and enjoy it!

I'm from Olympia, WA - born & raised. I love to travel, hike, build tiny houses & ski in the winter! Get me outdoors and I'm happy! I built the Bayside Bungalow in 2008 and lived in it for 2 years. Since then, I have been renting it out to friends, family, & visitors so that they too can experience life in a tiny house. I love small, efficient living and am happy to be able to share my tiny house with others. I also teach tiny house design & building workshops for the Tumbleweed Tiny House company.
