Come stay in our cozy guestroom! Our home is PERFECT for travelers who want to explore New York without spending tons of money on a comfortable place to stay. We're also located close by the A express train, making traveling to Manhattan very easy.
We're two lovebirds who met in college. Fast forward 7 years later and now, we're married! We originally joined Airbnb as hosts in order to afford the wedding of our dreams. Now, we're still interested in hosting because the experience of meeting new people has been rewarding.
Our home is filled with love and we want our guest to feel rejuvenated, relaxed and well taken care after a stay with us.
Kat is a New York native, who has lived in Brooklyn for the past 6 years. Tonye is a Seattle native and Boston transplant who moved to Brooklyn a year ago. Between the two of us, we offer a perfect mix of newcomer's enthusiasm and seasoned resident's know-how.
Since we both work full-time and have active social lives, our guest will feel as if they have the place mostly to themselves. We're also a phone call or text message away if you have a question or need us to come by for anything.
We live in a spacious and cozy, 2 bedroom + 1 bathroom ground floor brownstone apartment that's handicap accessible.
This listing is for our guest room. We will occupy the master bedroom during reservations.
Our guest bedroom is warm and cozy space featuring a queen size platform bed, dresser, armchair and alarm clock. The room also has two doors, one leading to the hallway and the other, to the living room.
At check-in, you will receive a welcome basket filled with a map of the neighborhood that highlights cafes, bars, restaurants, shops, food markets and subway stations; a list of local cultural institutions and events happening during your visit; and several certificates for nearby eateries.
We also offer: wireless internet, cable television with DVR, video games, a flat screen television that is hooked up to our Netflix account, a fully stocked kitchen that includes a stove, refrigerator, food processor, rice cooker, waffle maker, spices and kitchen staples (sugar, honey, cooking oil, etc.), an air conditioner, iron and ironing board, fresh linens, towels, wash clothes, soap, shampoo and conditioner.
In the bathroom is an incredible chrome showerhead that has a handheld option and 7 spray modes, including pulsating massage, for a luxurious shower experience.
In the living room there's a dining alcove with a table that seats four and also a reading nook with a chalkboard wall for messages, quotes and doodles.
Our place is situated in the heart of Brooklyn's culturally diverse and historical Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood. Directly next door is a 24 hour convenience store and deli. Across the street from us is a basketball court, playground and handball court. We're 2 blocks away from bustling Nostrand Avenue which has a wonderful lounge/restaurant, a huge supermarket, a health food store, plenty of clothing shops, wine shop and Caribbean food stores and restaurants. We're 3 blocks from a very popular authentic Italian restaurant, tons of bars and nightlife options.
Additionally, we're a short bus or train ride away from the Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, Park Slope and Williamsburg neighborhoods of Brooklyn. Some of their highlights are: Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn Academy of Music - a multi-art center with international performances and films, Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park, Children's Museum, Zoo, Botanic Gardens, Fulton Street Mall, Atlantic Center and Barclays Center - a landmark sports and entertainment arena that is home to the NBA's Brooklyn Nets.

If you want to visit NYC, Kat and Tonye's place is a very nice solution. They are the most kind hosts and their home is in the heart of Brooklyn, close to the subway and with lots of restaurants and bars in the neighborhood. Recommended!
Both Kat & Tonye have a genuine and humble energy that shows with the way they treat each other as well as their guests. You feel comfortable from the very beginning in meeting them. They have a great info packet they’ve put together with maps, recommendations and useful things about their home. Their apt is super cozy - we loved the bed, we could’ve stayed in all day! It’s quiet and away from any outside noise which is great if you want to sleep in! We also enjoyed a recommend brunch spot (Rustik Tavern) from Kat & T on our first morning and SO glad we went, it’ll be one of the reasons to return to the neighborhood. The walk there was nice, I liked being a part of a residential neighborhood as opposed to being in a touristy area. Within walking distance of two train stations and bus service. Very close to downtown Brooklyn & Manhattan. The neighborhood is great!
While at home with our hosts (who really felt more like new friends), it felt very comfortable to have different topics of conversations and relate, as well as share some great stories, pictures, and home videos.
Kat & T: You both have very beautiful spirits, & we thank you for sharing that with us, as well as the space you’ve created to call home. Spending time with you guys was one of the highlights of our weekend. We hope to see you both again soon.
Kat and Tonye were more than hosts, they were like family. They provided me with a fantastic healthy meal and great conversation during my brief stay.
The apartment was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of supplies and spices that Kat and Tonye assured me I could use freely. The room had a huge comfortable bed with fresh linens.
I would certainly recommend staying with them if you're looking for friendly accommodations and a great rate.
My Girlfriend and I had a good time at Kat and Tonyes house. We only saw them for short times in the evening since we spend all day in the city but they were really nice and friendly people. They made the stay professional really professional with a welcome basket and good tips of where to go and what to do. I can totally recommend them as hosts.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Kat & Tonye's place was wonderful! It was clean and well equipped for the purposes of our stay. We were only there for one night, but Kat & Tonye were communicative and helpful in many aspects!
Kat and Tonye were very welcoming, and it was a great pleasure to stay with them! They are very friendly and have a great sense of humor and style. The place was exactly what I expected and whats in the pictures. Comfy bed and it felt just like home.
I will be staying here again in the future and you should definitely consider this place.
well, what can i say.
kat and tonye are two of the most openminded and openhearted people we ever met. they make you feel at home from the first second, also because they are totally relaxed, having guests at their home.
we also liked the neighbourhood. it's really different than manhattan. if you like it chilled, you should stay at kat's & tonye's house.
anik and leo
We had a wonderful stay with Kat&Tonye (though we only me Kat).
The room is very nice and clean.
The living room and kitchen made us feel very much at home.
Very nice place to stay when visiting manhatten/brooklyn.
The metro station is a 10min walk, and depending on the hour you may wait 15min for a train to stop.
I so enjoyed my stay with Kat and Tonye! My only regret was that it was just for one night! The apartment was lovely-- full of pre-war Brooklyn brownstone detail and charm. The bed was just heavenly. I also had the opportunity to discuss the local attractions with Kat. Being a foodie, I now have a host of restaurants on my list from her recommendations. She was a font of information and it's clear that she and Tonye love hosting. I enthusiastically recommend their place and look forward to staying there again!
