Interaction with Guests
Since we both work full-time, during the weekdays our guest will feel as if they have the place mostly to themselves. In the evenings, we like to cook dinner and relax in the living room. This is usually the time we're available to help our guest research things to do and places to see during their stay.
Our place is situated in the heart of Brooklyn's culturally diverse and predominantly Black Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood. Directly next door is a 24 hour convenience store and deli. Across the street from us is a basketball court, playground and handball court.
Along our street is a laundromat, vintage/thrift clothing store, a popular soul food restaurant, barbershop, nail salon, liquor store and about three cafes.
We're 2 blocks away from bustling Nostrand Avenue which has a wonderful lounge/restaurant, supermarket, health food store, and wine shop. We're 3 blocks from a very popular authentic brick oven Italian restaurant, tons of bars and nightlife options.
We're a short bus or train ride away from the Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, Park Slope and Williamsburg neighborhoods of Brooklyn. Some of their highlights are: Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn Academy of Music - a multi-art center with international performances and films, Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park, Children's Museum, Zoo, Botanic Gardens, Fulton Street Mall, Atlantic Center and Barclays Center - a landmark sports and entertainment arena that is home to the NBA's Brooklyn Nets.

We were really lucky staying at their house. They put a huge effort in hosting people with a folder full of maps and restaurant advises. Last evening was pretty cool having some talks with one of the best piña coladas of my life! Thanks for so many things, really hope to see you guys again :)

Kat & Tonye were great hosts. Very warm and understanding. We couldn't spend that much time together cause I was sightseeing 24/7. But as we did I felt among friends. They were really great.
The neighborhood was ok. I didn't spend that much time either. But the A/C train station is 3 blocks away and it is easy to get.
Kat and Tonye were awesome hosts - they provided us with suggestions long before we even arrived to help us plan our trip itinerary, then when we arrived there were plenty of guide books and maps to help us out.
They were both incredibly friendly and welcoming - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them - beats a hotel stay by far!!
Our stay with Kat and Tonye put us in a great position to see New York. The apartment is close to the subway which is really convenient for making your away around. The apartment is really close to lots of restaurants, a supermarket and a laundromat.
Kat and Tonye went out of their way to make us comfortable and were always happy to answer our questions.
Once again, this was an above average airbnb experience! The apartment and room was accurately described and depicted on airbnb although the living room/common area was much bigger than I had imagined, so that was a great surprise. I immensely enjoyed watching TV and hanging out with Tonye in the living room the day before my race on the comfy couch! We had full use of the well equipped kitchen which was very convenient. As others have mentioned, the bed was extremely comfortable, in fact so comfortable that both my friend and I could get a good night sleep without ever "bumping into" one another! The fact that this was a ground floor apartment with only two small (kitchen and living room) windows was frankly a non-issue for us. In fact, we liked that there wasn't any light to wake us up in the morning although we were up early most days anyway. I didn't notice any noise, so that makes me believe that it was a good thing being on the ground floor. The apartment was warm and cozy, which we particularly enjoyed coming home from the race. Tonye had made sure to turn the heat on for us.
The Brooklyn neighborhood was nice and felt very, very safe. People were friendly and helpful, as I was asking for directions a lot! The subway was conveniently located only a 5-7 minute walk from their place.
I can't emphasize how much of a pleasure it was to meet and stay with Kat and Tonye. They are truly beautiful people both inside and out and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at home, answer questions and give us recommendations and suggestions of things to do and see in NYC. I can highly recommend staying with Kat and Tonye. You will feel at home!
