About this listing

As featured in New York Magazine, June 19, 2015 "Taste the Flavors of Tucson" *NEW* lovely queen size bed since 11-2015 with Saatva Flagship Luxury Firm mattress set -- true comfort!

The space

The Poet's Studio is a peaceful retreat in the heart of Tucson. The studio shares the private, walled 1/3 acre lot, courtyard and pool with two other structures: a second, working studio and the original mud-adobe home built in the 1940s.

The studio is crafted in the classic Santa Fe style, built of sun-dried adobe with a corner beehive fireplace. You will have private views out both windows, with a mountain view to the north and a view overlooking the pool to the east. The unheated "Plunge Pool" is just swimmable (4-1/2 feet deep) and reaches temperatures in the 80s during the summer.

The studio boasts a lovely queen-sized bed with a Saatva Flagship Luxury Firm mattress set, a 3/4 bath with a walk-in spa shower and a modern, well-appointed kitchenette. Additional amenities include air conditioning and heating, high speed wireless internet, iHome radio for your iPhone, wireless capable flat screen TV (use your NetFlix account!) with Direct-TV., professional induction hotplate, Kuerig coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, Cuisinart gas BBQ and solar panels.

The space is well-equipped. Upon your arrival, you will find coffee, Tucson Tamale Company green corn tamales, granola bars, fruit and chocolate to get you started. I also provide drinking water from Aqua Vita (distilled, magnetically treated) given the tap water is chlorinated and quite mineral-rich. Soaps, dishes, pots and pans, pool towels, robes, hair dryer, iron, even bikes you can borrow. I have tried to think of everything, but if you find you are missing something, I have an entire house full of stuff next door - just ask!

The property is a surprising oasis right in the middle of Tucson. Located in the Poets Corner neighborhood, a convenient midtown area close to everything -- just off the 3rd street bike path, 2.5 miles east of the University of Arizona and 4.5 miles east of downtown Tucson.

We are within 2 miles of great restaurants (Zaynas, Feast, Kazoku, Lodge on the Desert), groceries (Whole Foods and Sprouts), cinemas (El Con and Loft) shopping (Target, El Con Mall, CVS),and parks (Alvernon neighborhood park, Reid Park, Reid Park Zoo (like a mini San Diego Zoo!), Randolph Tennis and Golf Center) and the Tucson Botanical Gardens. You will love the serenity, the classic charm, and the convenience.

During your stay, you will access the studio through a private side yard. A covered car port is dedicated for your vehicle.

Rates are seasonal.

No smoking inside, but there are nice places outside to smoke.

Dogs and children are welcome.
If over two people occupy the studio, including dogs or children, we ask for a $10.00 per night.

Don't miss the Desert Museum - totally worth seeing at least once to provide a strong sense of ecological place.

If you need laundry done, ask Cindy and she can make arrangements.
We have a twin size cot with mattress you can borrow if you need it, or a full size airbed (but the space gets quite cozy)

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Cynthia's place. It was just the right size for a couple staying in Tucson for several days. The photographs and description of the place were very accurate. Cynthia and her daughter were both terrific hosts. We traveled all around Tucson and found it easy to navigate the city by car from this neighborhood. After a long day, it was nice to come "home" to the Poet's Studio.

Poet's Studio Tucson was perfect; Cynthia and her family (furry ones, too) made us feel very welcome and relaxed. The private entrance to the guest house was also open to the pool and the description online was spot on - clean, efficient and close to the things we wanted to see and do. We are fairly experienced bnb'ers and this was our favorite by far!

My fiance an I stayed here for two nights over Memorial Day weekend. We really enjoyed the place. As advertised, it is a nice little studio with all the amenities that you would expect. There was a kitchen area with everything that we needed (water bottles, coffee maker, fridge, etc.). The room itself was also cozy and unique. The tamales in the freezer and then the fruit and granola bars on the table were very thoughtful as well. The outside was nice too as there was a decent sized court yard with a small pool. Overall, the location was clean, quiet, and relaxing. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in Tucson.

Cynthia is a wonderful host and the Poet's Studio is a peaceful, perfect introduction to the Sonoran desert - the property is almost exactly what my 'perfect desert getaway cabin' would look and feel like! The studio is thoughtfully decorated, well-maintained, and stocked with everything you'd need -- whether you need a place to crash after a long hike or just relax with a good book for a relaxing weekend getaway. We used this as a home-base for our first trip to Tucson. We did a lot of hiking in the mornings and explored the downtown area in the evenings, and this was a great place for afternoon siestas in the hot desert sun. If you're looking to enjoy the old downtown / 4th Avenue areas of Tucson, this isn't within walking distance but it's a quick, cheap Lyft ride AND it's much quieter than those places when you're ready to catch some zzz's. The kitchen is also great for heating up leftovers or enjoying a quick meal in the beautiful shared courtyard, too. Cynthia is great with communication and the welcome tamales are the perfect signature touch. I'd absolutely stay here again and strongly recommend you do, too!

This place is amazingly romantic, it's a very special and unique place. We spent time sipping coffee in the romantic vibes this place puts out. The shower is amazing! Cynthia is also an amazing host. We stayed here for our wedding weekend and she was so thoughtful.
