This apartment is part of a group of 7 apartments that we have in this building in Bairro Alto, Travessa dos Inglesinhos 27, 2 Esq.
The apartment is a T2, with two bedrooms with a double bed. One nice bathroom and the kicthen is full equiped.
To set forth on a discovery of Lisbon, there is no better place to begin: the tram a few steps away, international brand shops at Chiado and the more daring fashions in Bairro Alto, where you also have the trendiest restaurants of Lisbon. Bica neighbourhood, close by, is becoming a night haven for artists and intellectuals. But this does not destroy the calm and charm of Rua das Chagas. For theatre and opera lovers there are three theatre houses at a five minute distance, S. Carlos, S. Luiz and Trindade Theatres.
Chiado is where Lisbon's history and urbanity meet. This tourist area of the capital begins at the Brasileira café, on Rua Garrett. Opened in 1905. It´s one of Lisbon's postcards. On the side walk café you will find the different urban tribes and a statue of poet Fernando Pessoa, who offers his lap for tourist photos.
Next to it, two churches remind the vanished towers of Santa Catarina Gate. The Church of Loreto, built in 1528 by Italians living in Lisbon, was partially destroyed by the 1755 earthquake, but later rebuilt and one of the places to visit on Chiado. The Church of Encarnação, inaugurated in 1708, was also hit in 1755 and rebuilt later. But Chiado has more than just two churches to see.
Luís de Camões square, which any Lisboner will call Largo Camões, is not just a passing place. Sit on the steps of the poet's monument and enjoy the bustle that Chiado has.
But do not leave Chiado without inquiring about the theatres. São Luiz Municipal Theatre was one of Lisbon's first cinemas. Today it is a municipal theatre with a rich and varied programming. Also glimpse the Teatro Trindade and the S. Carlos Opera House.
This is one of the city´s best shopping areas. You will find international brand shops (Hermès and Hugo Boss, for example) and great Portuguese designers like José António Tenente (Tv. Carmo, 8) StoryTailors (Cç. Do Ferragial, 8) or Atelier Alves/Gonçalves (Tv. Guilherme Cossul, 16).
It is not difficult to come across public figures, mainly artists. There are several art schools in the area, like the Fine Arts Faculty. Even if you are not an expert, venture into the Chiado Museum - National Museum of Contemporary Art (Rua Serpa Pinto, 4) besides well-cared exhibitions, it has a pleasant patio to have lunch or simply sip a coffee. There is also a big offer for meals: Café Royale, New Wok and Kaffee Hause are excellent choices.
Walk the streets with care, the movement on the sidewalks is always heavy and the trams are constantly passing.
You are in Lisbon. And Lisbon never stops!
We had a great stay in this apartment! Communication was easy, clear and prompt. The owner was helpful in providing tips about the local area, which facilitated our arrival.
There was a small window that broke upon closing it, and everything was solved extraordinarily fast and calm - we got a different apartment to stay in and could enjoy our stay basically uninterrupted.
The apartment is at a great location to explore Lisbon, close to Baixa-Chiado metro station and 2min walk from tram 28 (great for exploring the city) as well as elevador Bica. There of bars and restaurants behind every corner so there is plenty to choose from to suit every taste.
We stayed there in January and there were electric heaters available, which made the place warm enough despite lower temperatures outside. The only negative is the sometime noisy nights, due to vicinity of the bars. We were there in low season, so I can imagine this gets a bit more annoying during high season. A good pair of earplugs should be able to fix that, though.
The apartment is spacious enough (we were with 2) and has everything you might need. One of the rooms has en-suite bathroom, there is fully equipped kitchen and a living room with a tiny sofa - you'll spend most of your time outside exploring the city anyhow, so this will be all you'll need!
All in all, a place I would recommend.
We loved our stay in Lisbon! Teresa was at the flat early to meet us, as our flight arrived at 10am. The place was super cute, clean, had lovely light and was in a great location. It was just off of the main party streets in Bairro Alto, so there was some noise, but nothing that kept us up at night. I would definitely recommend this stay to anyone I knew visiting and hope to stay there again one day (soon!!).
We loved staying at your apartment. It was comfortable and clean. We would recommend it to anyone that likes visiting the sites and loves to enjoy some of the nightlife. The area is bustling, but the windows and earplugs kept the noise out. It's very convenient to have your room only a street away after you've finished your last Mojito.
We had a wonderful stay in Charming Apartment Bairro Alto. Our hosts were extremely helpful and provided great local information when they greeted us on arrival. The apartment was very clean and comfortable, great for a short or longer stay. Very conveniently located to great restaurants and sights. We loved it!
The appartement was cosy and clean, and it was great that we both had our own bedroom. I would highly recommend this appartement for your people out to have great nights out, but if you are a bit older and are looking for a relaxing experience, I would not pick this one. Because it is in the middle off Bairo Alto, there is quite a lot of street noise at night and there is no double glazing. Only option you have is to join the fun! Joanna who welcommed us was very helpfull and gave us great tips, she really took her time for us which was great to start with.
The days in Lisbon were amazing! The apartment is clean, confortable and right in the middle of Bairro Alto where you can go walking to many bars. Besides of that, is also easy to go around taking the tram just 3 blocks away. However, if you need some silence to sleep I would say that during the weekend the street is busy and will not provide you a quiet time... Margarida and Ana were very friendly and gave us all the support that we needed.
Great location right in the middle of the action. The flat is a few meters away from the street where all the bars are. If you were to visit with young children be aware that it can get noisy on week ends.
Perfect for couple to visit Lisboa. The person who welcomed us was very nice and explained the surroundings to us
