This apartment is part of a group of 7 apartments that we have in this building in Bairro Alto, Travessa dos Inglesinhos 27, 1ºEsq.
The apartment is a T2, with two bedrooms with a double bed and a double sofa bed in the living room. The only bathroom is inside one of the bedrooms and the kitchen is full equiped with everything you need.
To set forth on a discovery of Lisbon, there is no better place to begin: the tram a few steps away, international brand shops at Chiado and the more daring fashions in Bairro Alto, where you also have the trendiest restaurants of Lisbon. Bica neighbourhood, close by, is becoming a night haven for artists and intellectuals. But this does not destroy the calm and charm of Rua das Chagas. For theatre and opera lovers there are three theatre houses at a five minute distance, S. Carlos, S. Luiz and Trindade Theatres.
Chiado is where Lisbon's history and urbanity meet. This tourist area of the capital begins at the Brasileira café, on Rua Garrett. Opened in 1905. It´s one of Lisbon's postcards. On the side walk café you will find the different urban tribes and a statue of poet Fernando Pessoa, who offers his lap for tourist photos.
Next to it, two churches remind the vanished towers of Santa Catarina Gate. The Church of Loreto, built in 1528 by Italians living in Lisbon, was partially destroyed by the 1755 earthquake, but later rebuilt and one of the places to visit on Chiado. The Church of Encarnação, inaugurated in 1708, was also hit in 1755 and rebuilt later. But Chiado has more than just two churches to see.
Luís de Camões square, which any Lisboner will call Largo Camões, is not just a passing place. Sit on the steps of the poet's monument and enjoy the bustle that Chiado has.
But do not leave Chiado without inquiring about the theatres. São Luiz Municipal Theatre was one of Lisbon's first cinemas. Today it is a municipal theatre with a rich and varied programming. Also glimpse the Teatro Trindade and the S. Carlos Opera House.
This is one of the city´s best shopping areas. You will find international brand shops (Hermès and Hugo Boss, for example) and great Portuguese designers like José António Tenente (Tv. Carmo, 8) StoryTailors (Cç. Do Ferragial, 8) or Atelier Alves/Gonçalves (Tv. Guilherme Cossul, 16).
It is not difficult to come across public figures, mainly artists. There are several art schools in the area, like the Fine Arts Faculty. Even if you are not an expert, venture into the Chiado Museum - National Museum of Contemporary Art (Rua Serpa Pinto, 4) besides well-cared exhibitions, it has a pleasant patio to have lunch or simply sip a coffee. There is also a big offer for meals: Café Royale, New Wok and Kaffee Hause are excellent choices.
Walk the streets with care, the movement on the sidewalks is always heavy and the trams are constantly passing.
You are in Lisbon. And Lisbon never stops!
Margarida's apartment is located in one of the highest spots in Lisbon. The street is a bit messy and the bars are very noisy at night, not very suitable if you're looking to relax after a long walk in the city. By the way, be careful with your belongings in Barrio Alto; it's not the safest place in town.
It is a very small place for 4 people and the conditions were not the best: some of the towels were dirty with sand, three light bulbs were not working and there is a strange smell, a bit of sewage smell, all around. Besides, the sinks do not flush correctly. The shower is too small like to share with the family and the 3rd and 4th person to shower will not have hot water anymore.
Tiago was a good host and they were quick to respond to our inquiries.
We had a great experience staying in this apartment! The pictures are accurate, it's not huge but very comfortable and clean. Everything worked, bathroom is clean, wifi works great, towels are ready, kitchen is equipped, etc. The location in Bairro Alto is excellent, a short walk to the city centre and the area is very nice even at night, when there is a good atmosphere on the streets around the apartment. When we arrived we were welcomed by Tiago who gave us some perfect pieces of advice for food and drinks, like the big indoor market and the (rooftop) park bar. Only flaw I could imagine was that the bathroom door didn't lock when we arrived, but we told Tiago and it was fixed immediately. I would definitely recommend this place!
The apartment has a great location in the middle of Bairro Alto, a great place to stay for a long weekend, the apartment was large enough for 4 people and had everything we needed for our stay. The bathroom was a little small, but the size was ok since our stay lasted for 5 days. It was lots of bars and nice tapas restaurants right outside the door, it really is a prime location in! We managed to lock our keys inside one day, but Tiago was super helpful and we were able to come and pick up an extra set of keys within an hour!
;) Also empfehlenswert!
We had an amazing stay in Lisbon! The location is perfect and close to everything. The appartment was very modern and clean. The hostess was very nice too. We really enjoyed our stay!!
The apartment is very well located and comfy, it stays in the midle of Lisboa´s party, restaurants, bars and museums scene.
It was clean and ready for us. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is complete, well equipped and the shower is good as well. The bathroom is a little bit small if you are a big person.
We had a great time there! Recomend! Enjoy Lisboa!
This appartment was very cosy and very central. Clean, tidy and everything was well-arranged.
It's quite a climb to get there, but hey, that's Lisbon. There are taxis, trams and elevadores a few streets down. And lots of nice restaurants in the neighbourhood. Also bars but the noise coming from there doesn't reach the appartment.
A few disadvantages however:
* the appartment is very small, the place itself is big enough but the bathroom was a challenge. For a person of 1.80 m. it was impossible to sit on the toilet faced forward..
* the appartment is quite noisy. We could literally hear our upper neighbours speaking (and other things..)
But we felt very welcome and would recommend this place!
Hi Catlijne, thank you very much for your feedback, it's been a pleasure to welcome you during your stay in Lisbon. I am sorry for the size of the bathroom, unfortunately we can't do anything about that, but we will take all your commments in consideration. Hope to see you one day again! :) All the best
This was a great apartment and was good location. The host was very friendly and also advised us many places to within the city. The bathroom is a bit small, but it was still good.
The apartment is located perfectly right in the middle of buzzing Bairro Alto with lots of bars and restaurants, but still in a quite street so we were not so bothered by noise. It's a small apartment but worked well for us (two friends). Upon arrival, Carla met us at the apartment to hand over keys and she shared a lot of tips on what you can do and see, which was appreciated as first timers in Lisbon. The communication before and during the stay went really well. The only thing that bothered us a little was the smell from kitchen/bathroom, it usually went away after you had the balcony doors open for a while though. We also missed a chopping board, scissors and a wine opener in the kitchen. But overall we were very happy with our stay, a good price for decent standard.
