About this listing
This apartment is part of a group of 7 apartments that we have in this building in Bairro Alto, Travessa dos Inglesinhos 27, 1ºEsq.
The apartment is a T2, with two bedrooms with a double bed and a double sofa bed in the living room. The only bathroom is inside one of the bedrooms and the kitchen is full equiped with everything you need.
To set forth on a discovery of Lisbon, there is no better place to begin: the tram a few steps away, international brand shops at Chiado and the more daring fashions in Bairro Alto, where you also have the trendiest restaurants of Lisbon. Bica neighbourhood, close by, is becoming a night haven for artists and intellectuals. But this does not destroy the calm and charm of Rua das Chagas. For theatre and opera lovers there are three theatre houses at a five minute distance, S. Carlos, S. Luiz and Trindade Theatres.
Chiado is where Lisbon's history and urbanity meet. This tourist area of the capital begins at the Brasileira café, on Rua Garrett. Opened in 1905. It´s one of Lisbon's postcards. On the side walk café you will find the different urban tribes and a statue of poet Fernando Pessoa, who offers his lap for tourist photos.
Next to it, two churches remind the vanished towers of Santa Catarina Gate. The Church of Loreto, built in 1528 by Italians living in Lisbon, was partially destroyed by the 1755 earthquake, but later rebuilt and one of the places to visit on Chiado. The Church of Encarnação, inaugurated in 1708, was also hit in 1755 and rebuilt later. But Chiado has more than just two churches to see.
Luís de Camões square, which any Lisboner will call Largo Camões, is not just a passing place. Sit on the steps of the poet's monument and enjoy the bustle that Chiado has.
But do not leave Chiado without inquiring about the theatres. São Luiz Municipal Theatre was one of Lisbon's first cinemas. Today it is a municipal theatre with a rich and varied programming. Also glimpse the Teatro Trindade and the S. Carlos Opera House.
This is one of the city´s best shopping areas. You will find international brand shops (Hermès and Hugo Boss, for example) and great Portuguese designers like José António Tenente (Tv. Carmo, 8) StoryTailors (Cç. Do Ferragial, 8) or Atelier Alves/Gonçalves (Tv. Guilherme Cossul, 16).
It is not difficult to come across public figures, mainly artists. There are several art schools in the area, like the Fine Arts Faculty. Even if you are not an expert, venture into the Chiado Museum - National Museum of Contemporary Art (Rua Serpa Pinto, 4) besides well-cared exhibitions, it has a pleasant patio to have lunch or simply sip a coffee. There is also a big offer for meals: Café Royale, New Wok and Kaffee Hause are excellent choices.
Walk the streets with care, the movement on the sidewalks is always heavy and the trams are constantly passing.

Super Wohnung mitten im Barrio Alto! Hat alles funktioniert, gute und schnelle Kommunikation. Hatten eine super Zeit!
Very good location in Barrio alto. Apartment was very clean. Good and fast comunication before and during the stay. Someone came in 15 min to help when we had trouble with the stove on a friday night.
Very small bathroom.
Good location- good communication - clean, good internet. cute little balcony.
The Apartment is cute, clean and ideal for a couple of friends going to party.
We thought we would be in contact With the Apartment owner, but the Apartment is handled by a Company. Worked out fine, they were service minded and positive, but it did change the dynamic a bit. Felt more like staying in a hostel.
As before mentioned the apartement is great, however it is located in a very busy street. In the middle of party Central. We woke up every night from neighbours returning and partying and festive People in the night. Ideal if you are partying yourself, not so much if You are going to bed earlier.
Whether you're after a nice dinner at a local restaurants, the local metro station, night life, your local supermarket or even if you're feeling a bit peckish and you're after a nice burger from Burger King, you'll be able to get to all these places within 10 minutes walking distance.
There are many metro stations located around the flat, we walked from 'Baxia-Chaido' to 1A. Worst idea ever. We did not expect to climb so many stairs. From the 13 minutes on Google Maps, it took us about 30 minutes which included stopping to take breathers. You can easily take a cab to the apartment which would probably take less than 10 minutes.
If however you do wish to walk to 1A, I would recommend getting off at 'Restauradores' then walk towards the 'Lisbon Tram', take that tram, which leaves every 10 minutes (It does get crowded on that tram) and you're dropped off about a 5 minute walk away from 1A.
Biarro Alto is where the night life is. There are many pubs and clubs within a 5 minute radius.
The nearest supermarket is a 5 minute walk from the 'Lisbon Tram'/ Restauradores', Pingo Doche.
The flat has two double beds, one with a balcony room and one with the bathroom. There is only one bathroom in the flat, which I would say is the only downside. I'll get back to that in a bit.
The kitchen has what you need, an electric stove, a microwave, a fridge, toaster, kettle, even a washing machine!! I was surprised to see that the kitchen had pots, pans, plates and cutlery. Which was a plus.
Back to the bathroom. It's tiny, if you have long legs like me, you're going to struggle when on the loo. I was however slightly disappointed to see the shower head was held up with a hair band. If the hair band was removed, the shower head holder would fall. Which was irritating.
The living room is spacious, it has a small 20" TV screen with cable TV. If you're cooking in the flat there is a foldable dining table with chairs if needed.
Overall, the flat is great, with minor hiccups which can be overlooked. It is located in, what I would say is the best location. I would definitely recommend this place!
Appartment was nice, newly furnished and well located. The area is full of bars, but the street is quite ok at the end. The windows work very well. We were 4 people and this appartment was really enought for us.
