The Space

Maryville is a lovely 4 bedroom detached 1930's cottage with a big garden, set in the most beautiful countryside of South West Cornwall. On the outskirts of Treen village, this area of Cornwall has (in our opinion) the most amazing beaches in the world, and breathtaking walks which means it is perfect to visit any time of the year. Maryville has recently been updated and now has a great new kitchen with views across the valley.
What makes this cottage a little different is that we don’t have a TV and we like it like that, however we have succumbed to broadband but even so a holiday at Maryville means complete relaxation away from all the trappings of modern life. The local pub is a 2 minute walk away and the beach is a 10 minute walk.Fantastic surf beaches are a drive away. We are on a dead end road with only the sea and tiny fishing hamlet of Penberth at the end. Land's End is only 5 minutes drive, and there are a wealth of amazing attractions, including the famous Minack Theatre, restaurants and culture to be discovered by car.

  • For us as first-time air-bnb-ers, Maryville was a great surprise. Everything worked fine, the contact to Helen was easy and friendly. Check-in was as uncomplicated as possible - but what we found then, topped everything: An absolutely lovebale home with nice details (flowers in every room, absoltuely comfortable bed, truely fully equipped kitchen and and and) inmidst a beautiful garden, situated in a fantastic landscape, close to the beach (email hidden) ;-)). Surely a recommendation - and we'd love to come back some happy day.

  • The five of us had an amazing stay at Maryville. There for the long weekend, the beautiful house and property could have easily sustained us alone if it were not for the spectacular sights to be seen! Nestled in a supreme location, the locals at the legendary Logan Rock Inn got to know us quite well, as did the locals at Sennen Cove. Helen was extremely helpful with the booking process and provided heaps of information for sight seeing as well as housekeeping. We couldn't fault it and will definitely be back!!

  • Maryville is a perfect home away from home: cosy, well-appointed, spacious, and very clean. We spent three nights there for a family get-together and could't choose better. A special mention goes to the stylish decor and the location (just perfect!). Helen has provided us with great directions to get there and some information about the best spots to visit. Highly recommended, and don't miss the Porthcurno Beach and the Minack Theatre!

  • Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour à Maryville. La maison est très accueillante et tout était bien organisé pour notre arrivée : panier de bienvenue, produits d'entretien, bois pour la cheminée, etc ...

  • The cottage save our souls! We were in dire need of tranquility and this was the perfect means of rehabilitation. Helen's place is so exceptionally well-appointed and comfortable that if it weren't for the wonderful walks and beaches nearby, we may never have left the threshold! Maryville was an excellent base also for which to explore the coasts of Cornwall, and I agree with previous guest, William, about the walk to Penberth. Above the sea at Logan's Rock was a very beautiful place to be. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Helen's place. We had a wonderful time. If only I were still in front of the fire ...

  • The house is beautiful. Stylish, cosy, light and with all the added attention to detail that makes somewhere such a treat to stay. A welcoming hamper from the local vineyard, a brilliant record collection and old style record player, good books....and a trampoline in the garden! Not to mention the views, the stunning beaches nearby and the walks.
Helen was really helpful all the way through booking.
The only downside was if you have a large vehicle, it may be better to (email hidden) car park round the corner. The driveway is very narrow and tricky to manoeuvre around - so much so that I ended up scratching our hire car and having to fork out £250!
I'd still highly recommend this as a place to stay and can't fault Helen's services.

  • Wonderful cottage in Cornwall. Beautifully kept with great decor. About 20 minutes from Penzance but in a much more charming and secluded area. Gorgeous beaches not far from the cottage as well.

  • The cottage was very lovely and comfortable and well cared for. It has a terrific view across the valley. The road in front leads down the valley by the small mill stream to the sea - it was one of the most pleasant walks I have ever had.

Fresh eggs can be found in Treen and good Cornish pasties nearby. We did not try the local pub but we hear it is good. The whole countryside is peaceful, beautiful and invigorating.

We had no children with us, but it would be a good cottage for children.

  • We have just arrived back from celebrating Easter at Maryville. It is (email hidden) to stay - we would happily have stayed for another week or two or three ... Helen was great at answering, queries and providing information about the house and the area and we had a bit of an issue with the cistern at the end of the stay and Helen's Dad turned up and sorted it out immediately. The house is obviously a well loved family home and is set up for large groups and children. Our girls and their cousins spent a large amount of time in the garden and on the trampoline and loved their room in the eaves. The beds are comfortable and we slept beautifully. Helen very thoughtfully provided a welcome hamper with lovely local cider and flowers throughout the house. The surrounding area is just beautiful from the fishing village at the end of the road to the sun trap beaches. We loved being able to buy milk from the local farmer (cows chewing contently in the background) and beef and pork at the farmers' markets and to pick up bluebells and vegetables from the honesty boxes dotted all over the area. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing, enjoyable place to stay in and we will definitely go back.

  • We had such a lovely time in Maryville. The house is great - a well equipped kitchen, beautifully decorated bedrooms and a nice cosy living room. Helen was also very friendly & helpful in organising the booking. The surrounding area & village are also great. I would thoroughly recommend a visit!

I live in Brighton with my family - 2 kids, a husband and a dog. Brighton life is very busy running an illustration agency. We all love going to Cornwall for some sun, sea and relaxation and much needed peace. We spend most of the time there outdoors on the beach or going for long walks. In the winter we love to curl up by the fire playing games or reading books.
