We stayed in the cottage for 3 months. I agree with all the other reviews. We had everything we needed even for that long of a stay and highly recommend Marge as a hostess
while you are visiting Hawaii.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Marge's place. It is a cute little apartment at the back of the house and she has literally thought of everything you might need while you are there, all the way down to the first aid kit with band aids. Marge herself, is a lovely person and although we didn't get to visit with her too much we enjoyed the visiting we did do. She has a book full of great ideas for local outings and great places to eat and hikes to take. We also used the Kailua map extensively. She also has a shelf full of books on Hawaii so you really don't need to take anything like guide books at all. We will definitely be going back the next time we stay in windward Oahu. Thank you Margaret.
Good clear directions to Margaret's place. All of the amenities of home and then some. Very cozy space with personal touches for Hawaii. Very clean inside and out. Lovely landscaping for any time we spent outside. It rained more than usual for November but there was never any concern for rain coming in or draining. If any concerns came up we were able to reach out to Marge and had no worries. Highly recommend this place. Will book again as often as possible. Thank you Marge!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this cozy, well-appointed cottage.
Margaret contacted me to see what I might want, and provided very thoughtful items for my stay! The beds are very comfy and the nights quiet in this family neighborhood.
Also - wonderful cross ventilation and fans to use in each room. And lots of good information on where to go and what to do.
I will certainly consider a return visit.
Marge was wonderful, as was her cottage! She contacted us prior to our arrival to get our itinerary and was able to accommodate our early arrival. When we arrived, there was a sweet welcome basket and note. Marge has put together a notebook with maps and suggestions for activities and restaraunts that was very helpful. She even had a wonderful selection of books...I enjoyed reading "Ka'a'awa" during our stay.
The cottage was clean, comfortable, and well stocked. We loved the location!
Unfortunately, Michael got a chest infection and had to go to urgent care for antibiotics. When Marge learned this, she went out of her way to ensure that Michael had all the over counter meds he might need!
Marge is a very thoughtful and generous host and we would definitely recommend her cottage to others wanting to explore the windward side of Oahu!!
This trip to Hawaii was a once in a lifetime trip for us. When we found Marge's listing, we thought it was "to good to be true". But it was all true. Marge was the perfect host. Very considerate and helpful. We loved the binder of info she left in the cottage, so very helpful for us first timers. We were very happy to have such a lovely and quiet place to rest and relax. The cottage was perfect with everything we could have needed. We literally felt like we were at home. If we ever get the chance to return to Hawaii you know we will be calling on Marge. Mahalo Marge!
I thoroughly enjoyed the two weeks that I recently spent at Marge's Private Cottage in Kailua. The accommodations were comfortable and clean, with lots of privacy. The separate entrance allowed me to come and go as I pleased and there were more amenities than I could have anticipated.
I appreciated, and made regular use of the washer and dryer as I spent most of my time either at the beach or hiking the mountain trails which meant my clothes needed regular washing. The kitchen allowed me to prepare and store food items so I saved on meals, and covered lanai/patio made for a comfortable area to dine, read, or plan my day's activities. The "guest" parking spot, just in front of the property was always available any time of the day.
Marge is a very thoughtful and generous host who is genuinely interested in making you feel at home. She values your privacy while making sure that you have useful information (and even coupons!) so you have a great time on Oahu…...while saving you money!
Upon returning to the cottage after a long day out and about, I would occasionally find "island" munchies or homemade pastries that Marge would leave for me…..nice surprises!
On one notable occasion, after enjoying a few days at the beach I ended up with mild case of "swimmers ear". When I mentioned this to Marge, she offered me some ear medication……..so much aloha spirit!
I would highly recommend staying at Marge's cottage especially to anyone who would like to get away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and downtown Honolulu. You can immerse themself in the warmth and laid back pace of the island's windward side…..not to mention that you're just minutes away from Kailua and Lanikai beaches, two of the most beautiful and famous beaches on the island! I definitely plan to book my future accommodations on Oahu at Marge's Kailua Cottage.
Marge had helpful information laid out on the table when we arrived. Her apartment was clean. The unit was small but comfortable for the two of us. The location was great being close to the beach and the highway, but not too close. I would recommend this place to anyone who to cook meals via stove top or microwave and isn't planning to spent too much time in the room. There is a nice lenai in the back that made for a cool place to have breakfast. She also provided beach equipment which we appreciated since we didn't have room to bring any.
Marge was in constant contact with us as our stay date approached, she was offering suggestions of things to do and see that came up on sale at various websites. When we arrived, Marge was away, but she left us a great note, instructions and had put together a fantastic book of places to go, eat and things to do, along with maps and directions. The cottage itself was perfect for us and Marge has made sure it is equipped with everything you may ever need. This is better than anything you could imagine, as well, there are beach chairs, water shoes. mask and snorkel, ice chests, the list goes on and on. All we needed to do was get there and everything we could think of was provided. She even had a beautiful fruit basket, some juices, coffee & tea, cream, we were totally overwhelmed at how we were taken care of. Marge didn't have anyone booked right after us, so we were able to have a late check-out which really helped as our flight back wasn't until midnight, so we could enjoy the beaches that day, still grab a shower and head to the airport late. The only thing I would like to point out, though it wasn't a problem for us really, but the bed is just a double. Was kind of different as we sleep in a king at home. The room though would not allow a larger bed and we managed just fine. My wife loved how the bed felt. Marge's cottage was such a nice surprise for us and really went a long way to making our trip so enjoyable. Marge herself was so supportive and always went the extra mile for us.We will be staying there in future visits to Oahu!!
we stayed here for 9 days and it was awesome! marge is such a nice host and the cottage is great. we would definitely stay here again!!!!!
