Fernando was very flexible and accommodating of our late check in, and key pickup and dropoff were easy. The apartment was very relaxing and right in the heart of the east village - easy to walk to lots of restaurants and bars, and also convenient to the subway. The apartment is on the small side but this is typical for nyc. We liked that there was a rooftop! Also we tended to stay out late, and always felt safe on 14th st (lots of foot traffic). Note that there is a firetruck station on the street and there is lots of street noise in the morning. There are 4 flights of stairs but nothing too bad. Overall great value and location.
This place was clean and the bed was comfortable. Fernando was responsive to our messages. When we turned up there was no toilet paper so we had to go out and find some which was very annoying after such a long trip. You also have to carry your luggage up 4 flights of stairs which was difficult. We also were unable to get the TV to work at all.
It was a pretty good location and overall it was an okay stay.
Grazie, bella vacanza.
Fernando's place is magic! It had everything we needed and is in a great spot. The apartment is small but very comfortable and clean. It has such a relaxing vibe about it - a great place to retire to after a day of walking/exploring the sites of NYC. Fernando himself is such a lovely guy and wonderful to deal with. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
Fernando was a great host and communication was excellent! Although we didn't meet in person Fernando did everything he could to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. The location is so central and very easy and safe to walk around anytime- and very easy access to subway so getting out of the neighborhood is super simple. The studio is very nice and the bed was really comfy. Be aware it's a 4th floor walk-up so you can pack accordingly- it reminded me of the Netherlands! But it was great to be on the top floor and the light was beautiful. I'm a light sleeper so I wore earplugs and slept really well. My husband isn't a light sleeper and he slept well. All the fabrics and colors were lovely and I was glad to have a place to make and drink coffee in the mornings.
Fernando was a great host. I didn't have the chance to meet him in person, but he was very attentive and always answered all my questions. We used whatsapp and viber to communicate. I stayed at his apartment in NYC for a week and I can say the apartment is located in a very good place. It is very close to the subway station and there are snack bars, restaurants, drugstores and stores everywhere. It is just a few minutes walking from the apartment. The apartment is just like in the pictures and everything worked well in it. I would definetely stay there again!
the apartment is very nice and it is perfect because the subway is very close and allows you to shoot with great ease new york! fernando unfortunately we have not met, but me and my friend giulia we were fine! great value for money!
We had a great stay in Fernando's apartment. All of the directions/instructions were spot-in and easy to follow. I loved the proximity to the subway and the location/walkability to the East Village, Union Square, Gramercy Park, etc. The wifi worked great in the apartment, hot water and water pressure were perfect, and everything looks exactly as it does in the picture. Just a note that you should be prepared to walk up four flights of stairs if you stay here - just like true New Yorkers!
Great place, great deal! Had a wonderful visit to NYC while staying in Fernando's apartment. Everything was clean, the bed super comfy and the sheets are very soft. Plenty of hot water for the shower. We had no trouble with key pick-up at the laundry one block away. Other reviewers have commented it was noisy, but the noise level was what we expected for NYC. (People on the street, sirens) Loved that it was half a block to the subway stop. Fernando was very responsive to all communication, couldn't ask for better!
Some restaurants we tried in the neighborhood:
Madman Coffee - a delicious cup
24-hour Bagel - no frills, just a solid sandwich and cookie, good everyday place
2 Bros Pizza - The exemplary New York slice
Luzzo's - Italian, try the pizze frita (pizza dough stuffed with sauce, cheese, toppings)
Northern Spy Food Company - Ate here twice! Great brunch. Great for foodies.
Mudspot - Another great cup of coffee, wowser desserts, and funky atmosphere
Chickalicious - Dessert bar. GET THE DOUGH-SANTS! (Their version of Cronuts.)
