Charming Mazot in Chamonix-Mt-Blanc

Chalet - Entire home/apt · Route des Gaillands, Chamonix, Rhone-Alpes 74400, France

The Space

This chalet is a delightful, stand alone, traditional style, alpine mazot that combines rustic charm with modern facilities.

There is a good size en-suite double bedroom downstairs and a cosy living/dining room with kitchenette upstairs.

The chalet is always warm and cosy with modern insulation and underfloor heating, has great views of Mt Blanc and the Aguille du Midi and is well equipped with a modern kitchen, and wi-fi.

There is parking in the drive or a bus stop 50m from the door and Chamonix town centre is only 1km away by foot.

Winter or summer the mountains are magical places and few more so than the ones around Chamonix and Mt Blanc. If you're into your action sports then there's an endless supply of year round entertainment; skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, mountain biking, ice and rock climbing, rafting, mountaineering and more recently speedriding, basejumping and fly suits.

In the winter, snow sports are quick to learn and offer thrills and comedy spills from your first lesson to your first proper powder run. It is probably no wonder that for a huge number of our clients the yearly ski trip is a permanent fixture in the annual holiday calendar.

In summer the valley really comes alive with walkers, bikers, climbers and anything that can take to the air. Chamonix is actually busier in August than it is in February a pretty unique position for a ski town.

Charles Dickens described the Chamonix Valley better than I ever could when he said in 1846: “Mont Blanc and the valley of Chamonix, and the sea of Ice, and all the wonders of the most wonderful place are above and beyond one's wildest expectation. I cannot imagine anything in nature more stupendous or sublime.”

  • Nice, cozy and quiet chalet! Better for people with a car because the buses are not very often all day, worst on the weekends and no bus in the evening. It's possible go walking to the centre but quite long walk. But it was a great experience and i could come back!

  • Great little place about a 15 min walk from the Chamonix centre. Giles was very helpful with organizing rentals at the Hotel Vert about 100m down the road. Highly recommend!

  • 非常棒的小木屋,前所未有的体验!虽然面积不大,但是各种设施一应俱全,合理的空间布局,窗外优美的景色和非常舒服的大床!距离市中心10分钟的步行时间,如果有车会更加方便。

  • We had a fantastic week staying in the petit Mazot, the Mazot is like shown in the pictures small but functional, cozy, warm and comfortable and has all you need in it. Fantastic view on the Glacier de Bosson from the living room window. Located well not far from the city center of Chamonix and good to reach all the sites in the area around. Giles and all the other staff of frashtraxxx were super friendly and uncomplicated when I brought an other guest with me on short-term and simply brought out an extra mattrass.
Thanks a lot for a wonderful holiday. I definitely can recommend this Mazot and would come back there...

  • Excellent choice for a stay in Chamonix. The marzot is cozy, welcoming, and incredibly functional. The kitchenette is surprisingly useful, in no small part thanks to the excellent stove and the other appliances (toaster, microwave, coffee maker, a Foreman-style grill!).

It's close to the bus stop; you just need to invest a bit of time getting to know the bus times, and then you'll be all set.

    Excellent stay.

  • My fiancé and I has a fabulous time staying in this little self-contained Mazot. Giles was incredibly patient and accommodating with all our questions and requests, as was the rest of the Freshtraxxx/Le Vert Hotel team. Great location - 1 mile to Chamonix Centre (lovely 15-20min walk) and a short 3 min walk to the bus/5 mins to the train. Direct hiking distance to the Glacier des Bossons. Gorgeous views with Mont Blanc visible from the living room window! Cosy interior with modern heating (loved the heated floors in the morning), comfy bed, modern bathroom with heated towel rail, bath and a beautifully hot water supply, well equipped little kitchen (no oven but has a convection microwave with grill function) and nice sitting area. Very steep stairs down to the bedroom - be wary of tracking in snow and slipping!! (Not that I did that at all *cough*). All in all a gem of a place and very reasonably priced - highly recommended. We'll be back!

  • My boyfriend and I loved staying at the petit mazot. It is cozy, very warm and brand new. The bathroom is nice and the bed is comfortable and well made. It is easy to access any of the lifts nearby using the bus stop just across the street, or simply walking 10 minutes into town. Giles was also kind enough to arrange to have us picked up from the train, brought to rent our skis and then to the mazot. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the mazot for another couple staying in Chamonix. Thank you!

  • Our stay at the Mazot was very enjoyable! The place is cozy and quite warm. Due to a healthy amount of snow on the ground we had a tough time locating the cabin due to the addresses being blocked but Giles was very patient in answering our phone call late at night to get us to our destination. I would definitely recommend and would go back again!

I am a partner with 2 other friends in a small independent holiday company called FTX Holidays which we have been running together since 1999. We offer holidays in Chamonix-Mt-Blanc, France and Porto Pollo, Sardinia, Italy. At least 1 of us is in Chamonix at all times and in Porto Pollo from mid April-November so although we don't live in the apartments/chalet listed here we are always on hand to help out in any way we can. I am passionate about the mountains and the sea and spend as much of my free time as possible skiing, snowboarding, biking, kitesurfing, windsurfing, diving, wakeboarding, sailing and surfing. I am always more than happy to share the 10+ years of local knowledge in these 2 very special places i'm lucky enough to call home.
