The Space

This is listing in my home for my 12 by 17 master bedroom with a clean queen-sized bedroom suite. Separate master bath with double vanities, shower, and separate tub.

This room has limited availability. Please inquire if interested. Thank you.

IF you are a smoker, DO NOT book this room. I am extremely allergic to tobacco smoke. And I do not want to struggle with removing it from my belongings.

I strongly prefer no smoking on the property. I'm THAT allergic.

Please be tidy and dispose of trash properly. No smoking. Moderate alcohol consumption permitted. Please be tidy in the bathroom and wipe the shower drain and lavatory after use of each. Please rinse any dishes and place them in the dishwasher. Dishes are run nightly and sometimes more often. Enjoy the coffee and tea. Quiet times are generally from 10:30 to 11ish to 6 a.m.ish.

Bathroom rules:

Absolutely No use of hair dye.
Wipe makeup residue off of any surfaces.
Pick up personal body hair from bathtub, sink and floor.
Please maks eure that the clear plastic liner stays in the tub
There are hooks by the shower for hanging towels so that one can begin to towel dry in the shower before stepping out of the shower.
Do not shave or take care of delicate bodity care functions int the whirlpool tub. Doing so causes an hour of work for me and costs about $10 in whirlpool tub cleaning product.

Delicate matters:
Feminine protection supplies are available.
Please notify me if there are special precautions I need to take due to health concerns.

I pay retail for my sheets and towels, etc. IF there is a stain, and I can't remove it, I have to toss the item and replace it. After all, would you want to deal with stained sheets and towels? Please let me know before or ASAP if there is a *personal* issue I need to address. I keep my prices very low and have not added cleaning fees for damaga deposits, which I would prefer to avoid. Please help make that possible by exercising care with the property.

Thank you

  • Patsy possesses an engaging personality which makes the guest feel warmly welcome. My three-night stay worked well for me. I had the privacy I need to read and rest. The room and bathroom were clean and well-supplied. The bed was quite comfortable. Thank you, Patsy, for making this a good stay for me while I visited family.

  • My wife and I came down to Raleigh to play in the bluegrass festival this September and had planned on camping. Although when we arrive we were told (contrary to what we had been told before) that the gates to the park closed at 8pm and would not open up for anyone. Well we couldn't do that so I started looking.

I'd never used airBnB before and was very cautious. But after seeing the reviews for Patsy's place I decided it was the best option. I could not have made a better decision. She was a mother to my wife and I the whole stay. She did everything, from having coffee ready in the morning to keeping the light on for us when shows ran late into the night. She even baked us some delicious banana nut bread one morning. The room was wonderful, the bed was dreamlike, and the bathroom could be mistaken for a living room if it wasn't for the toilet in there, lots of space.

She also was so accommodating for our musician schedules (getting home at 2am, or getting up at 4am to catch a flight.) I could hardly believe how "ok" she was with it all.

The dogs are intimidating at first by look, but truly are the sweetest pups I've ever met. They'll bark loud when you come in or out the first time, but a quick reassurance that it's ok from patsy, and they're quiet as a mouse once again.

If you stay with patsy you'll get to see what true hospitality really is.

  • My stay with Patsy was great - she was very welcoming of our little dog to stay with her, and even helped us out by taking our little pup outside in the evening while we were at a wedding. I would definitely recommend staying with her again! The bed was big and very comfortable and the en suite bathroom even has a mini fridge and a hot water heater for tea in the morning. A great set up and a great host!

  • My first time Airbnb and I was not disappointed. Room was clean (though Patsy is in middle of refinishing kitchen) and pleasant. Very nice neighborhood, great for early morning walk.

    Patsy is very accommodating.

It was the right choice for me

  • Patsy was a wonderful host. My husband and I enjoyed our overnight stay and were able to relax and prepare for an early morning interivew. The room was so comfortable. Patsy even shared some delicious homemade pound cake. We would surely stay with Patsy again.

  • Staying with Patsy and the dogs is fun-- almost like a luxury hostel for adults. Wonderful comfy bed, great large bathroom, little extras like hair products and an upbeat energetic energy. Wonderful value.
I would say don't come if you don't like dogs because they are part of the experience and your four-legged host.

  • Patsy is not only an example of an excellent host but of an excellent person. She was very thoughtful, warm, giving, very very wise and an amazing mother to her son. We stayed 5 days and wished we could have spent more time with them both. Also we loved their 3 friendly dogs.
The room en suite was very spacious, comfortable and private. The bathroom was huge with a separate and very large and yummy spa-like bath tub!
It was our first visit to North Carolina and Patsy made our stay in Raleigh so memorable. Her house is not far from downtown and can be reached by bus in 45 minutes (10 mins by car). Raleigh was surprisingly much more cosmopolitan than we thought, yet very green with beautiful oaks, honey blossoms and magnolias everywhere. Raleigh's a hidden treasure, so glad we got to see it. We would highly recommend Patsy's place and Raleigh as a place to visit.

  • Such a comfortable bed and attached bath. Large space allowed us to spread out and enjoy. Attending a wedding in the area so spent time with wedding-related events and sightseeing. Patsy was charming hostess, had answers to any questions and joined us for conversation at breakfast. Very welcoming.

I am a social person, with a peaceful home. I work full-time from home, as a marketing writer/editor/ instructional designer. I have personally traveled (on an extremely tight budget) much of North America for my son's love of hockey (approximately 270,000 hockey miles). I've also traveled extensively for business at several points (so far) in my career. I've experienced limited travels overseas. I look forward to resuming my own travels at some point. ****************************************************************************** My goal is to provide a safe comfortable space for you. I've had two occasions when older women have booked and have assumed that my home is exclusively for females. I do not discriminate who stays in my home based on gender, race, etc. All persons deserve, safe comfortable, accommodations. Acceptance of a booking is based on availability and if I feel comfortable for my safety and the safety of other occupants of the home. ********************************************************************************* I have several larger (60 to 80) pound dogs and one outdoor cat. Occasionally, an AirBNB visitor may book a stay with a well-behaved pet. This is a pet-friendly home. The dogs are downstairs so as to minimize the dog hair upstairs. I use a series of gated doors to shift pets from one area to another so that a "dog-free" experience is available. My dogs are relatively quiet, but do bark when someone approaches the door and upon meeting new people. Being dog-friendly is helpful. One of my older dogs likes to hang out in the foyer and watch the cat and watch the world go by from the front windows. He is a pleasant, laid-back fellow and makes an awesome greeter. ********************************************************************************** Spring and summer of 2014: The home is undergoing changes: - Upper kitchen cabinets are changed out and the adjacent family room flooring is being worked on during the July 4th weekend and maybe slightly beyond. - Master bathroom has been re-tiled with vanities and sinks updated. - The shared middle bathroom has been updated with a new surround, tub, and Delta faucet. ********************************************************************************* The home features a fully fenced backyard. A full size grill is available on the back deck. ********************************************************************************** My home is non-smoking, as I am allergic to tobacco smoke. Moderate alcohol consumption permitted. My neighborhood is in the city, During the summer, at this location you can hear birds by day and the crickets by night. Turbo wireless internet is available. There's always good coffee. :) Coffeemakers abound here: A small Keurig, a Tassimo, French Press, a stovetop Italian espresso maker and several percolators. I generally keep Tim Hortons coffee around. Starbucks is less than 5 minutes away. Several other coffee shops are within a 5 to 10 minute drive. A large selection of tea is also available. I have porcelain teapots, stacking Turkish tea brewer, and good old-fashioned mugs for a comforting cup of tea. When possible, I will bake or cook a meal for you. It may not always be practical with our travels and schedules. When I am able to cook, I am happy to accommodate special dietary needs. So why do I host on AirBNB? I truly enjoy meeting, hosting and, yes, networking folks Keeping the price modest as a host is also a way to pay it back and pay it forward. We've experienced years of grace where folks have provided accommodations at a reasonable price for hockey travels. . The funds are helping me maintain the home. I am humbled and grateful for every booking. Finally, I hope someday to have a real B&B during my retirement years. During 2014, I don't have as many reviews as I have had more longer-term bookings. Please click "Other property reviews" to see historical reviews from prior years. Thank you for considering my home for your stay!
