Description

The Space

This is a room in a home built in 1987 and is being updated as much as possible, as quickly as possible as time and money permit.

Enjoy this 12 by 17 master bedroom suite. New (January 2016) laminate flooring. Comfortable, clean queen bed. Private bathroom with awesome hot water and water pressure. Large tub, best for soaking.

Work or surf at the desk within the room. High-speed WI-Fi provided. Local TV stations and Chromecast are available.

Toiletry supplies, iron, ironing board, water on the second floor, etc are all available.

I provide high quality linens and towels. Bed covers and curtains may vary as the room changes by season and is being upgraded as time and money permit.

Separate master bath with double vanities, shower, and separate tub.
Excellent hot water and water pressure.

This room has limited availability. Please inquire if interested. Thank you.

IF you are a smoker, DO NOT book this room. I am extremely allergic to tobacco smoke. And I do not want to struggle with removing it from my belongings.

Please be tidy and dispose of trash properly. Moderate alcohol consumption permitted. Please be tidy in the bathroom and wipe the shower drain and lavatory after use of each. Please rinse any dishes and place them in the dishwasher. The dishwasher is run nightly, when possible. Enjoy the coffee and tea. Quiet times are generally from 10:30 PM to 11ish to 6 AMish

Bathroom rules:

Absolutely NO use of hair dye.
Wipe makeup residue off of any surfaces.
Pick up personal body hair from bathtub, sink and floor.
Please keep the shower curtain in the shower stall.
There are hooks by the shower for hanging towels so that one can begin to towel dry in the shower before stepping out of the shower.
Do not shave or take care of delicate bodily care functions in the whirlpool tub.

Delicate matters:
Feminine protection supplies are available.
Please notify me if there are special precautions I need to take due to health concerns.

Note:
I pay retail for my sheets and towels, etc. IF there is a stain, and I can't remove it, I have to toss the item and replace it. After all, would you want to deal with stained sheets and towels? Please let me know before or ASAP if there is a *personal* issue I need to address. I keep my prices very low and have not added cleaning fees for damage deposits, which I would prefer to avoid. Please help make that possible by exercising care with the property.

I am trying very hard to regain Superhost status. I am concerned about your overall experience and especially about the cleanliness of the room. Please promptly notify me about anything that would result in less than a 5-Star rating and provide me with a way to remedy the situation. I cannot evolve as a host without your feedback.

I am at two properties. If I am unable to meet you in person, I will walk you through your arrival, by phone, by (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) or other technology. The room and home are set up so that you can walk in, enter your room and settle in. The home is fully furnished house.

Thank you.

Guest Access

Guests have full kitchen access and access to the laundry area located on the second floor. My pups stay downstairs, mostly in the kitchen and back area, unless invited upstairs. Please be dog-friendly and comfortable with larger dogs.

Interaction with Guests

I interact with you based on your level of comfort. I am available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for emergencies. I have numerous new and cherished friends from people met through Airbnb. And sometimes as host or guest, we might simply be different people. That's okay also. My goal remains to make your stay comfortable.

The Neighborhood

The neighborhood is a typical North Raleigh suburban in-town neighborhood. My home is located in a cul-de-sac. There are many families in the neighborhood. I have watchful neighbors and would like to keep them comfortable with my Airbnb offerings.

Getting Around

Public transit is located nearby on both Spring Forest Roads and Carlos. Parking is available on the driveway included with the listing and garage parking can be made available. Do not park in front of the neighbors property.

Please inquire about airport transportation options.

Other Things to Note

City of Raleigh occupancy rules specify how many occupants may be at my home at any one time. Because of that restriction, I can only host one married couple, one family, or four single occupants at the house at any point in time. There can be no deviations from this rule.

If I am not at the house, I am available via phone, text, email and Airbnb messaging 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

**** These are City of Raleigh rules that I am not allowed to negotiate. Any attempt to subvert them will be reported to the City and you must vacate the home--immediately. I apologize for sounding harsh. It's a fact. ***

My hosting style is casual, informative, friendly, concerned and attentive.

I am a social person, with a peaceful home. At this time, I am unable to lift some heavy objects. House guests and friends have been helping me with the care of the home.

I work full-time off site as a marketing writer/editor/ instructional designer. I have personally traveled (on an extremely tight budget) much of North America for my son's love of hockey (approximately 270,000 hockey miles). I've also traveled extensively for business at several points (so far) in my career. I've experienced limited travels overseas. I look forward to resuming my own travels at some point.

******************************************************************************
My goal is to provide a safe comfortable space for you so that you can stretch out and feel *at home.*

I've had two occasions when an older woman has assumed that my home is exclusively for females. I do not discriminate who stays in my home based on gender, race, politics. or other personal matters. All persons deserve safe and comfortable accommodations. Acceptance of a booking is based on availability and if I feel comfortable for my safety and the safety of other occupants of the home.

*********************************************************************************

I have several larger (60 to 80 pound) dogs and one outdoor cat. Occasionally, an Airbnb visitor may book a stay with a well-behaved pet. This is a pet-friendly home. The dogs are downstairs so as to minimize the dog hair upstairs. I use a series of gated doors to shift pets from one area to another so that a "dog-free" experience is available. My dogs are relatively quiet, but do bark when someone approaches the door and upon meeting new people (and if there is a raccoon or other creature on the front porch). Being large dog-friendly is a necessity. The home is FREQUENTLY vacuumed.

One of my older dogs likes to hang out in the foyer and watch the cat and watch the world go by from the front windows. He is a pleasant, laid-back fellow and makes an awesome greeter.

**********************************************************************************

Spring and summer of 2015: The home continues to undergo changes:
- The kitchen cabinets have been changed out and the flooring redone. Trim work and some cosmetic work remains to be completed. One lower cabinet remains to be replaced.
- The master bathroom has been re-tiled with vanities and sinks updated.
- The shared middle bathroom has been updated with a new surround, tub, and Delta faucet.
*********************************************************************************
The home features a fully fenced backyard. A full size grill is available on the back deck.
**********************************************************************************
My home is non-smoking, as I am allergic to tobacco smoke. Moderate alcohol consumption permitted.

My neighborhood is in the city, During the summer, at this location you can hear birds by day and the crickets by night.

Turbo wireless internet is available.

There's always good coffee. :) Coffeemakers abound here: A small Keurig, a Tassimo, French Press, a stovetop Italian espresso maker and several percolators. I generally keep Tim Hortons coffee around. Starbucks is less than 5 minutes away. Several other notable and awesome coffee shops are within a 5 to 10 minute drive.

The ability to make a good cuppa tea is also available. I have porcelain teapots, stacking Turkish tea brewer, and good old-fashioned mugs for your comforting cup of tea.

When possible, I will bake or cook a meal for you. Being able to share a meal may not always be practical with travels and schedules.

So why do I host on AirBNB? I truly enjoy meeting, hosting and, yes, networking folks Keeping the price modest as a host is also a way to pay it back and pay it forward. We've experienced years of grace where folks have provided accommodations at a reasonable price for hockey travels. .

The funds are helping me maintain the home. I am humbled and grateful for every booking.

During 2014, I don't have as many reviews as I have had more longer-term bookings. Please click "Other property reviews" to see historical reviews from prior years.

Thank you for considering my home for your stay!

The Louisburg location is a newer home in almost "like new" condition. No pets. Very quiet and comfortable. If you're looking for a peaceful retreat that feels like you are on vacation within 30 minutes of Raleigh, this is the location for you.
