House built in 1897 has 12 foot ceilings, hardwood floors etc. Living area, with futon that converts to a comfy double bed, has pocket doors for privacy, bedroom with full size bed, full well equipped kitchen and full bath. The unit has a private entrance and access to washer/dryer. You have on street parking, wireless, cable tv and a dvd player. It is a short 20 minute walk to the Quarter. Great restaurants in the neighborhood (one Zagat rated: Elizabeth's), Cake Cafe, the Country Club,Suis Generis, Maurepas Foods and Satsuma Coffee Shop offer great sandwiches and vegetarian fare. Vaughn's on Thursday night with Kermit Ruffins is a NOLA experience not to be missed! Try The Joint for the best BBQ in NOLA, Bacchanal wine shop also hosts guest chefs and Mimi's in the Marigny, a short walk away, voted the best neighborhood bar in 2009 by local paper Gambit. Our Texas friends refer to our neighborhood as "the real New Orleans"!

Susan and David are the perfect hosts, warm, friendly and inviting. The apartment is super cozy and located in one of the best neighborhoods in NOLA. Delicious cookies too! We ate every single one of them!!
Thanks again for everything!
Our first experience with Airbnb was wonderful thanks to Susan and Dave, our are fabulous hosts. Their home is comfortable and clean. The location is home to some really fine restaurants. Go.
One of the best things about airbnb is having the opportunity to live in and learn about a city through local perspectives. Susan and David were no exception - they are truly warm, welcoming, lovely, kind and open, and we adored every moment of our stay in their charming and beautiful apartment. They shared their vast knowledge of local hotspots, culture and history with us and never hesitated to offer a helping hand if and when we needed it. Unfortunately we were only able to spend three days with them in NOLA, but they made us feel like old friends and we can't wait to stay with them again in the future! Such a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend having them as hosts and Ravenswood Manor as a fabulous, warm, inviting and comfortable place to stay!
Susan and David were excellent hosts! Easy communication leading up to the trip, flexible check-in and out times, and a genuine interest in helping us have the best experience possible in their city. They gave us many great recommendations of things to see and do, and went the extra mile to make us feel at home in the apartment. Their kitchen was well equipped, the bed was comfortable, and the bathtub was perfect for a nice soak with a book. It's maybe a 25-30 minute walk to the center of the French Quarter, but it's a very pleasant walk that allows you to enjoy the unique colors and architecture in the Bywater. Parking is easy for those who rent cars. We had a great time in New Orleans and Susan and David were an important part of that. We would love to stay with them again! Highly recommend.
This was our first experience with renting from a private party. Our Host was most helpful and conscientious and the apartment was spacious, clean and comfortable. Loved the quality sheets and comfortable bed! It was cold when we arrived so Susan had the heaters on and a plate of fresh cookies and brownies. It was quite chilly our first night, but weather was unusual I'm told for the area. We enjoyed walking each day to the French Quarter and eating in nearby restaurants. Susan was even kind enough to take us to her favorite market in town for groceries our first night. The Bywater area was not quite what we expected as far as quality of neighborhood but we never felt uneasy walking about. Very different from where we live, but then that is part of experiencing new places! We stayed 3 nights prior to leaving on a cruise and looking back we are glad we did not stay in the downtown part of New Orleans! Susan and David were great hosts and comfortable people to be around!
Thank you Karen. Like every neighborhood in the city, we are still recovering from a storm that devastated us, government that abandoned us and insurance companies that #**#ed us but we are advancing. Our neighborhood is over 130 years old, I'm glad you and the other 103 guests have experienced it.
Susan and David were perfect hosts. We had one half of their perfectly renovated double-shotgun in the Bywater. It was clean, cozy, and filled with everything we needed and more. Susan is the ambassador extraordinaire for her neighborhood. This was my first time staying in the Bywater, and she gave us a very detailed rundown that saw us through the weekend. You won't go wrong with these two! They'll help you feel like locals!
We love New Orleans, and staying with Susan made it even more wonderful. Susan is an attentive, caring, and amazingly nice host! The apartment is very comfortable and well stocked with the basics. Susan provided drinking water, coffee and tea, and condiments to ease our stay. It is much appreciated when traveling to know you can make that cup of coffee or tea when you need it! She even had handmade chocolates welcoming us upon our arrival. Handmade, but Susan herself!
We spent New Year's here and Susan invited us to a party to celebrate and when we couldn't go due to plans with friends, she brought us some delicious appetizers. It was so very nice and thoughtful.
The neighborhood of Bywater is wonderful. We felt very comfortable and safe and welcomed. It is quiet at night and here are plenty of places to explore right within a few blocks. Frenchman street is but a short 10-15 minute walk up Royal Street where you are sure to find some of the best music. Keep going and you can be in the quarter within another 10 minutes or so.
Unfortunately, we had to cut our stay short as we were expecting a big snow storm back home. We popped over to let Susan know. She was very sympathetic and understanding. She even refunded that last night, which was incredibly generous!
We hope to come back to visit again soon as we really love the city and enjoyed our stay greatly with Susan. We highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a visit to New Orleans.
This apartment was exactly what we were looking for. The Bywater is a great neighborhood with some great cafes, bars and restaurants, and it's only a twenty minute walk to the French Quarter. Susan is incredibly warm and friendly and lives right next door if you ever need anything. And she gives you fresh baked cookies when you arrive!
I came to New Orleans for a conference at Tulane and decided to extend my trip two more days. I decided to stay here for saturday and sunday night. Let me just say that the pictures, although taken beautifully, does not fully show how beautiful this place is. It's a combination of modern and antique. The design of the house is absolutely gorgeous. Susan has done a great job with the decor. I wish I could of packed the apt up and taken it back with me to NYC. Super clean and wonderfully designed!!! Loved, loved, loved the bathroom. There's even bed slippers provided. It inspired me to redecorate my own home.
I heard reviewers talk about the cookies and I thought to myself, "what's the big deal about cookies"? That was until I tasted them. WOW. It made me feel at home and was sooo good.
The neighborhood of bywater is beautiful. We ate at Elizabeth's down the street. The apt is only less than five min drive to Frenchmen street and all of the French quarter. So convenient.
Susan and David are so nice and sweet. They not only gave us suggestions of things to do around the city but they also gave us a tour of their own home. It felt great to be treated with hugs and to see smiles on our hosts face. It really made us feel at home. We did not feel rushed on our check out day either.
I think Susan has created a problem and it is this: when I go to other cities they may not be able to match up to this place. My airbnb expectations is now at an all time high.
You should not stay in a hotel!!! Stay here!!! Trust me!! You would not want to leave. No regrets, only memories.
Susan and David,
Where do we even start?! We have visited New Orleans several times, but this trip was one of the best by far. This was our first AirBnB experience, and you guys have set the bar high! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home. We didn't want for anything, and the location couldn't have been more convenient. Thanks again for making us feel like family. We can't wait to come back and visit you guys again soon!
