If it’s happening in Austin, you can get to it easily from our location.
Close proximity to Texas highways 290E (one half mile), 183 (1 mile), US Interstate 35 (4 miles), and the 45 & 130 toll ways providing quick and easy access to the Travis County Exposition Center, Walter Long Lake, downtown Austin (12 minutes, 9 miles), and the Circuit of The Americas Formula-1 track. US Highway 290 East is under construction, in a transformation to Manor Expressway. While full access to frontage roads still provides quick and easy access to all surrounding highways, with a quick 15 minutes from our driveway to the airport (AUS – ABIA).
Being so close to highways leaves us with chain restaurants within 1 mile, with an amazing array of ethnic and regional restaurants within 5 miles (please see our guidebook, and let us know if you discover a new local gem to pass on to other guests!).
We are on the Republic of Texas Rally gathering route, north entrance of Formula-1 and Austin Executive Airport (quick access to toll way 45/130 will take you directly to the north entrance of the track, at 85 miles per hour, without the hassle of in-town or freeway traffic), US183, Highland Plaza, Capitol Plaza, etc. There is a bus stop at Ferguson Lane and Cameron Road (1 mile west), 290W at Tuscany (1/2 mile away), a train station at 290 and I-35 that will take you downtown and back until midnight. Shuttle to the airport is available.
Guests have access to the gated yard, pool with furnishings and towels, grills (charcoal and gas) with tools, washer and dryer with laundry supplies provided, including iron and supplies.
I'm here if you need me, but did you really plan a vacation to spend time with ME??
The dogs and I hang out in the yard and take morning and evening walks, but we try to not intrude.
New Bus stops are being added along Highway 290E. This can connect to the light rail at Highland Mall Transportation Station and terminates at 4th Street downtown for festivals.
The Bus stops at Springdale, but then one half mile walk to the apartment.

Great accommodations and wonderful hosts.
Jake was a wonderful host! His apartment is very unique and beautifully decorated! It definitely had a Mad Men feel. He also made us blueberry muffins! My boyfriend and I would love to stay there again. I would highly recommend Jake and the secluded Man Men Pad to anyone who wants to visit Austin!
We enjoyed our stay at the Mad Men travel pad. Jake was very welcoming and we appreciated the muffins and well stocked pantry and fridge. We liked the neighbourhood and found the location convenient to all the things we wanted to see around Austin. Jake was very helpful in giving us directions and recommendations. We would definitely recommend staying here to our friends.
Very nice location and Jake's hospitality was great. The fridge was filled well upon arrival!
Jake was absolutely awesome! I was in Austin for my daughter's wedding and the Mad Men Pad was just up the road. Jake greeted us with warm orange, cranberry bread. He gave us a grand tour and we were free to enjoy ourselves. The apartment was beautifully decorated, comfortable and quiet. We had access to the pool, which was lovely and would have been fun to play in, but it turned cool a day after we got there. We even made my daughter's wedding cake there!!! Jake was available for referrals and directions, but did not 'hover'. We felt like we were 'home'! I would highly recommend staying with Jake. It was incredible!!!
Super comfortable spot! Very spacious in-law apartment with great styling. Nice and quiet. Good quality bed and bedding. Kitchen was good, A/C was good. Shower was teeny! We hardly interacted with Jake, but he seemed great. Note that this is on the north side of Austin, and a little bit outside of town, so there's not a lot nearby--that might be a good thing depending on what you are looking for.
Jake is a excellent host. He answered all questions fast and had everything my girlfriend and I needed for a great place to stay. A+++++
How happy does a fresh baked coffee cake make you? For me, it warms the room and makes me feel safe and cared for, which is exactly how we felt in this well appointed, mid-century styled apartment. It's equipped with everything you could need, clean and comfortable. Just about 7 mins from downtown, it's situated in a quite neighborhood north of downtown with a pool and a lovely backyard area. Very nice stay! Thank you, Jake !
Beautiful apartment in a beautiful, sleepy neighborhood. Jake is probably the best AirBnB host I've ever encountered. Easy, accommodating, he baked us a blueberry loaf! The pool deck was so great. All in all a fantastic stay in Austin!
We had a great experience.
Very clean and welcoming.
We had a freshly baked cranberry bread waiting for us:)
Highly recommended and will definitely try to book again next time we are in Austin.
Thank you Jake!
