Interaction with Guests
We will meet you at our home to give you the key and a quick tour before leaving you to enjoy your stay!
Our quiet neighborhood is a 10-minute drive from dozens of wineries and breath-taking views. Dundee is also five miles from George Fox University in Newberg, for any parents out to visit their kids. We're 15 minutes from charming McMinnville, 40 minutes from the urban destination of Portland, and 1.5 hours from our spectacular Pacific coast. Amazing hikes in every direction, and the famous Spruce Goose (huge plane at an aviation & space museum) just down the road.
From our front door, you're a 10-minute walk from espresso, wood-fired pizza, bbq, and local, gourmet cooking. From our back door, you're steps away from a calming evening stroll through the vineyard, with valley views from the top.
You will need a car to get to Dundee and tool around once here. Public transit is available, but is not very convenient. Many of our guests have brought bikes, though, and put them to good use.
Other Things to Note
We provide paper products needed, including toilet paper, paper towels, napkins; as well as towels, sheets, blankets, and meal necessities (plates, silverware, soap, etc). We clear space in the freezer and refrigerator for you to keep perishable items.
Pantry items (flour, sugar, spices, etc) are *not* included in your cost. Currently we do allow an honor system -- if you use our cooking and baking ingredients, please estimate a value and leave cash for us to replace those items.
No smoking. No drugs. No shoes - we do provide slippers for our guests!
No parties; we are not set up for events. Please invite no guests other than those we've agreed upon.
Our home is pet-free.
Please read the information left for you in the house; it gives helpful tips such as "in the master shower, 'down' is hot and 'up' is cold." Saves you some time waiting for your shower. Instructions in the kitchen are important both for helping you find what you need, and for alerting you to the rules for one or two "high maintenance" items we have (such as not putting our steak knives through the dish washer). Nothing that will make or break your vacation, but little things that will make your vacation -- and our return -- more satisfying. Besides, who doesn't want to know where the wood is kept for the fire pit out back? Must read to find out.
While we are a family-friendly home, we do expect parents to monitor their children while visiting. Because we've taught our toddler what she may and may not touch, we do have plants on the floor, and adult books (meaning, not child-proof) within reach. We also have common-sense rules for kids like:
* Eat & drink in the kitchen area, and clean sticky hands and faces before climbing on furniture.
* Sit or lay on couches and beds; no standing or jumping on them.
* Put away toys you play with.
* Treat toys and books nicely.
We also ask parents to do a thorough check of the house before leaving. We've found broken toys (our toys), left-behind teddy bears, an entire box of used facial tissues wadded up & left under a bed, and gravel in our compost bin. While we love to accommodate families, these things make us wary of renting to guests with children.
We had an absolutely wonderful time at Kimberly's lovely home. Everything was clean, organized and welcoming. Communication with her was easy and clear. We had Thanksgiving there and it will certainly be a fond memory for my family and me for years to come.
Kim and Rob's house is absolutely amazing. Right in the heart of Willamette Valley wine country, it's convenient to McMinnville, Carlton, Newberg, and Portland. Located at the back end of a cul-de-sa, the house is in an exceptionally quiet location overlooking a vineyard. The house itself is quite spectacular, from the comfortable furnishings, amazing beds (memory foam!), and great looking living spaces. This place was perfect as home base for our two couple party. Kim and Rob take care to let you know where everything is located (there's a list right on the fridge), label everything for you, and even show you the intricacies of the house before departing. If you're heading to the Willamette, there is no better place to stay!
Everything was seamless. Kimberly did a great job providing us with information on the property, what to expect, and how to make everything work. We had a great time enjoying the vineyard views and grilling on the back porch. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone who needs to decompress and relax. Added bonus: for those traveling with children / toddlers, this house works very well!
KImberly was great and the home was amazing. It's tucked away at the end of a street, with beautiful vineyard view out of the backyard. The house itself is very well-maintained and comfortable. You can tell that Kimberly and her family live here full-time because you will benefit from every convenience imaginable. The master bed is very, very comfortable and there are plenty of other rooms for extra guests. Overall, I would highly recommend this listing if you're looking for a comfortable house in Dundee or surrounding areas.
Lovely home! Kim and her family when out of their way to make us feel welcome. The house was well appointed and there were notes everywhere letting us know where things were, how things worked, etc. The house is right on the vineyard and it was great to be able to look out across the grape vines. We went for a wine tasting at the Four Graces Winery, who's vines we'd been looking at from the back porch.
We had a wonderful experience! My family stayed at the home while we participated in the local winery half marathon, and everything was great. The house is beautiful, and it's right next to the vineyards...the sunrise was amazing! It was a very quiet neighborhood, so we got the rest we needed before the race.

In the days before children, Rob & I enjoyed hiking, exploring, and travel. Now that we don't see the world quite as much, we're glad for Airbnb to bring the world to us. Our visits around Europe, Scandinavia, and parts of Africa add to our eagerness to meet those who live there now, while we also enjoy our guests from different parts of the US -- whether they come with the southern accent reminiscent of my childhood, or from just up the street in Portland.
With a 3-year-old and a newborn in the house, we're now taking Airbnb a month at a time, determining whether or not to open our calendar to guests...largely determined by whether the children are sleeping -- or not -- at night. If the calendar says we're available, then we're relatively certain you will have an enjoyable stay in our home.
WHY ARE WE AIRBNB HOSTS?
We love sharing the peace and beauty of vineyard living. We have the great good fortune of overlooking the Four Graces vineyard in Dundee, and the town and surrounding area offer excellent diversions of wine tasting, dining, hiking, shopping, and sight-seeing.
If you're staying in Portland before or after your stop here, I may be able to direct you to other excellent Airbnb hosts in the city -- depending upon the size of your party. And if you have more people than will fit into our home for your stay, ask me about other options nearby in Dundee and Newberg. Other Airbnb hosts are not far away, so you may be able to split your group between our home and another.
