The Space

Stay in our FABULOUS newly renovated 1-bedroom apartment with a modern industrial “loft-like” flair.

Located in what is arguably Oakland’s most dynamic, hip, and centrally located neighborhood. We are pet-friendly, have a full kitchen, redwood deck, offer WiFi, laundry, TV w/Roku, all of this AND we are only 2 blocks to BART. This location is so convenient - you could easily choose a car-free stay (plus we offer adorable bikes for rent too!).

This is a year-round rental and was designed as such, you won't find anyone's clothes in the closet or toiletries in the bathroom!

- Open plan, gourmet kitchen w/island seating
- Large shared redwood deck and garden
- free WiFi, and flat screen HD TV with Roku
- Full sized washer/dryer in unit
- Luxurious high-end linens and bedding
- Uniquely decorated with lots of original art
- Cleverly concealed Murphy bed in living room can sleep 2 additional people
- Fully fenced dog-friendly yard with large dog shelter and auto-waterer (plus 2-3 friendly dogs in yard for your enjoyment if you desire!)
- BIKE rentals now available onsite!!
- Many environmentally-friendly features (natural foam bed, on-demand water heater, cork/wool flooring, hemp curtains, recycled building materials, eco-friendly cleaning supplies, compost bin, energy star appliances and heating, native and drought-resistant plants in yard)

Super convenient location where you can walk to:
- Cafes and the new Beauty's Bagel Shop
- Many Zagat-rated restaurants nearby including: Burma Superstar, A16, Hogs Apothecary, Pizzaiolo, Addis Ethiopian, Homestead, Barlata, Dona Tomas, Bakesale Betty's, Aunt Marys, Mama's Royal Cafe, Dopo, Cesar, and Homeroom
- An independent grocery store (Piedmont Grocery)
- The best Italian deli in Oakland (Genova Deli)
- BART (2 blocks to Macarthur station which is 15 minutes to SF)
- Yoga/kickboxing studios
- Mosswood park (tennis/basketball courts, picnic areas, baseball diamond, kid play areas, and dog park)
- Temescal farmer’s market on Sundays, year-round

Plus, only minutes to drive to downtown, Rockridge, Piedmont Ave, Uptown, Berkeley, and even San Francisco (17 minutes by BART, 12 by car w/zero traffic). This location receives a “walkability” score of 82, which is “very walkable” according to (website hidden) .

Shampoo, conditioner, soap, iron and board, hair dryer, roller-bag for pedestrian food shopping, pack-n-play crib, dog bed/towels, yoga mat, terry cloth robes, and umbrellas for two (available upon request: yoga blocks and straps).

- $130/night Based on 2-person occupancy (2 night minimum, 3 on holidays)
- Holidays are $150/night
- Additional guests $20/night (children under 2 are free)
- Pets $10/night extra per pet
- Parking is available for $5/day
- NEW!! Cruise through the hipster neighborhood in style!! Rent a COOL new European-styled PUBLIC brand commuter bike from us for just $25/day (helmet and lock included)

The rental is one of two units located on the first floor – the owners occupy the unit on the second floor. The second downstairs unit is occupied by a quiet tenant who rents year-round.

Though the apartment DOES sleep 4, doing so will turn the living room into a bedroom and severely limit the amount of hang-out space for guests. The 2nd bed is a murphy-style and can be easily transformed during the day for maximum usability of the space; however most guests do not seem to choose to do so.

The yard/deck is shared space with the owners (upstairs) the full-time tenant (downstairs) and two friendly hound mixes. A gorgeous/sweet great dane is also present in the yard mondays-thursdays.

More information/photos available on our site which is reachable at urbanhabitat510 with the usual extension for businesses.

We live directly upstairs from the unit so we are very nearby in case you need us. We will respect your privacy and leave you alone unless you desire otherwise. It is likely you will see us in the backyard studio/workshop or garden so come out and say "hi" if you want!

  • Although we did not meet the host, she was very helpful via fone, email and texting. The apt had many wonderful details like bathrobes, a dispenser in the shower of body wash, shampoo and conditioner. A fully equipped kitchen,a washer, dryer,a beautiful landscaped patio In the backyard. There were many wonderful books,it was beautifully decorated with pictures and antiques. The neighborhood was somewhat marginal,my husband called the police about a homeless man lying in the street on the block. There was an excellent bagle place 2 blocks away

  • Jordie was an outstanding host who warmly welcomed us (even though we arrived early) and she went over and above to make our stay super easy and comfortable. The space is immaculate and even better then listed. It is thoughtfully planned and easily accommodated myself and two teenage sons. We were able to walk to the park and local restaurants/shops. I loved having tea on the deck with her two dogs who also made us feel like we were in our own backyard. I only wish we had more time there- I would have wanted to spend more time in the yard reading all the great books she has.. Oh and it only took us 10 minutes to get to Cal Berkely for orientation so that was awesome. I look forward to staying again when visiting my son.. maybe even bringing my dogs who would love it too.

  • This was a great place to stay! Totally comfortable and an easy walk or drive to downtown Oakland and the Bart. We loved the back patio, the modern kitchen with great appliances, and the website pointing us to good nearby restaurants. It was perfect for our family with two young boys. Jordie is a great host!

  • We booked Jordie's apartment to end our stay in the bay area before moving out to Maui. It had everything we were looking for: great location, comfortably furnished, well-equipped kitchen. The beautiful back deck and outdoor area was a big plus and we hung out there every evening. We had friends come by to say goodbye to us and one of those friends ( who was also visiting the bay area) upon seeing the apartment wanted to book it for the last couple days of his stay (but unfortunately it was already taken). I definitely recommend this place!

  • This was a terrific stay, wonderful place in a convenient neighborhood (BART 1 1/2 blocks, Beauty Bagels around the corner, parking, etc.). Place is great, nice beds, well-appointed kitchen and lovely backyard with table and cushioned sofa. Hosts were gracious and helpful, experienced (we were guests #100). Very very highly recommended!!

  • This was absolutely one of the best airbnb experiences I've had. The unit was absolutely beautiful. Far better than described if you ask me. Jordie really put a lot of thought into the little details that make the place so unique and special. Jordie was a pleasure to meet and a very gracious host. I accidently left my laptop there :( and Jordie was so kind as to drop it off at FedEx for me.

Very convenient location just a couple blocks from BART. Definitely will be my regular home away from home with visiting the bay area!

  • Jordie was an excellent host; she offered help or provided information if either was needed. The apartment was very comfortable and designed with great inventiveness. We had everything there that we needed, and the apartment is in walkable distance to a lot of great restaurants, supermarkets, and yoga studios. Because the apartment is located within a five minute walk of the MacArthur BART station, it is easy to travel in any direction (San Francisco, Berkeley, Fremont etc.) without a car. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Unequivocally, a 5-star rating. I concur with all the glowing things already said about Jordie & Audrey's fantastic was the perfect place to stay. I have admittedly high standards when it comes to vacation rentals; this apartment easily met those standards, and did so with aplomb. It was extremely clean, with fantastic attention to detail in both design (style in spades!!!) & functionality (fully equipped kitchen, washer & dryer). They also provided all the little "extras" that really elevate the whole experience, such as a bar of artisanal chocolate on the counter, a fantastic selection of books, as well as a discount card to a local (very good) neighborhood restaurant. We were delighted by the dog residents and throughly enjoyed their company. The apartment is conveniently located near the BART station, several food options, and we felt completely safe in the neighborhood. The backyard is a beautiful, contemplative oasis.

Jordie and Audrey are fantastic people as well as great hosts; Jordie even generously gifted me with a bottle of wine after she learned it was my birthday. Truly above & beyond. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in the Bay Area, and look forward to staying there again!

I am a property manager/environmental scientist/entrepreneur/artist/builder from the mountains of Montana who relocated to the Bay Area to attend college...and I got hooked! Since that time I have come to call the Bay Area home and love it especially because it has such a fabulous diversity of residents and activities. I enjoy helping visitors with discerning tastes take delight in our spaces and I especially like helping travelers discover the insider’s perspective on the many world-class destinations/arts/restaurants/events the Bay Area (and beyond!) offers.
