Visiting Oregon's wine country? Stay with us in the hamlet of Dundee. We love our home that backs up to a vineyard, and enjoy sharing it with others.
This photo shows the view a bit better. The Four Graces vineyard is just steps outside our back door.
Feb 2015: For now, we are making our guest rooms unavailable to new guests. We've added a second child, and are in a season where the infant and/or the 3-yr-old may be screaming at midnight. (They're adorable most of the time, mind you, but "adorable" stretches only so far at midnight.) If you have stayed with us before and would like to chance it because you're more friend than guest now, please do contact us! We'll be straightforward with you re: how well the kiddos are doing, and whether or not you're likely to enjoy your stay.
Three bedrooms are available in our home, all on the second floor of our 2-story house: Our "vineyard view" room [best view in the entire house!] has a queen bed. The blue room has a double bed, and a room adjoining the blue room has one twin bed. We can also add a queen airbed in the room with the twin bed. Our guest bath has two sinks, and the shower/bath and toilet are separated from the sink room by a door.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT RESERVATIONS:
Our assumption is that the first two guests share a room. If you are only two people but want two rooms, please select "3 guests," which automatically adds one more room to your reservation. I've given examples below for you to determine your correct reservation. Message me if you have any questions!
2 guests/1 room (ex: 1 couple) [select: 2 guests] = $79 ($85 on holidays)
2 guests/2 rooms (ex: 2 friends who do not want to share a bed) [select: 3 guests] = $79/$85 + $45 for 2nd room
4 guests/2 rooms (for example, 2 couples) [select: 3 guests] = $79/$85 + $45 for 2nd room
* Pricing includes the requisite 10% lodging tax we pay to the city.
* Guests may choose their room(s). We book only one guest party at a time, so you will have the guest bathroom to yourselves.
Bedding & towels, WIFI, bath necessities (shampoo, soap), DVD and cable TV in guest quarters as well as downstairs. Coffee & tea are available in the morning.
Street parking in a quiet neighborhood.
Interaction with Guests
We always enjoy getting to know our guests, but flex with how much our guests would like to interact with us. We've sat around our fire pit by the vineyard in the evening with some guests, sipping wine or introducing them to s'mores; other guests we've seen only as they've arrived and departed.
Dundee is in the heart of wine country, with literally dozens of wineries within a 30-minute drive. My husband & I enjoy just walking or driving through the countryside -- even without wine lingering on our taste buds. But Dundee is also five miles from George Fox University (and shopping and cafes!) in Newberg, for any parents out to visit their kids. We're 15 minutes from charming McMinnville, 40 minutes from the urban destination of Portland, and 1.5 hours from our spectacular Pacific coast. Amazing hikes in every direction, and the famous Spruce Goose (huge plane at an aviation & space museum) just down the road. From our front door, you're a 10-minute walk from espresso, wood-fired pizza, bbq, and local, gourmet cooking. From our back door, you're steps away from a quiet evening stroll through the vineyard, with valley views from the top.
You will need a car to reach us. Public transit is available, but is not a simple ride from Portland.
Once at our home, restaurants and tasting rooms are an easy walk -- but you will want a bike or car to go beyond Dundee.
Check-in time is 3pm (or later). Please do not arrive early unless otherwise arranged -- I may be out grocery shopping, or our children may be napping, etc.
Our home is pet-free.
Due to hardwood floors downstairs and light carpet upstairs, we remove our shoes at the door to cut down on dirt. You may help yourself to our basket of guest slippers!
Check-out is 10am. We'll handle laundry and cleaning once you're gone, but please leave the house and yard looking generally the way you found it. Look for specific check-out instructions in your room upon your arrival.
No smoking, please. Both the house and yard are smoke-free -- and we definitely do not want our 3-yr-old daughter finding cigarette butts in the yard.
While we are a family-friendly home, we do expect parents to monitor their children while visiting. Because we've taught our toddler what she may and may not touch, we do have plants on the floor, and adult books (meaning, not child-proof) within reach. We also have common-sense rules for kids like:
* Eat & drink in the kitchen area, and clean sticky hands and faces before climbing on furniture.
* Sit or lay on couches and beds; no standing or jumping on them.
* Put away toys you play with.
* Treat toys and books nicely.
Room was just as described. Vineyard was beautiful! Rob was so kind to set up a fire pit on the edge of the vineyard so we could roast marshmallows with our son and his friends at GFU. We really enjoyed our stay and getting to know this lovely family! Kim and Rob have hearts of gold and their girls are adorable.
The room was very nice, the family was very pleasant, amenities good. Their little girl was very nice. If you want to share a room in a house this is it. The house kitchen was open for use for breakfast fixings.
Rob & Kimberly were great hosts. Very friendly and with a wonderful family. Thanks for a relaxing weekend in wine country!
We loved our experience with Kimberly in her lovely home. She was so accommodating even when we came in at odd hours. The guest room was very comfortable and quaint with the best view of the wine country. Her family is very nice and we felt so comfortable and welcomed into her home. They informed us of places to go and eat at. Even when first connecting with her about our reservation, she was very prompt in her responses abd updates. We highly recommend her as a host!
Kimberly and Rob are fantastic hosts! Nice, kind, and fun! I can't think of a better place to stay in Oregon wine country. Highly recommend!!!
Kimberly was a lovely, gracious and patient host. My questions were answered promptly and her home was, indeed, very cozy and comfortable with amazing views of the vineyards and Willamette Valley. If you are spending a quiet night in town I'd recommend it!
We were lucky to find this place on our drive from Seattle to Sfo. Unique view towards the vineyards and a very nice neighbourhood - in addition to the lovely family.

In the days before children, Rob & I enjoyed hiking, exploring, and travel. Now that we don't see the world quite as much, we're glad for Airbnb to bring the world to us. Our visits around Europe, Scandinavia, and parts of Africa add to our eagerness to meet those who live there now, while we also enjoy our guests from different parts of the US -- whether they come with the southern accent reminiscent of my childhood, or from just up the street in Portland.
With a 3-year-old and a newborn in the house, we're now taking Airbnb a month at a time, determining whether or not to open our calendar to guests...largely determined by whether the children are sleeping -- or not -- at night. If the calendar says we're available, then we're relatively certain you will have an enjoyable stay in our home.
WHY ARE WE AIRBNB HOSTS?
We love sharing the peace and beauty of vineyard living. We have the great good fortune of overlooking the Four Graces vineyard in Dundee, and the town and surrounding area offer excellent diversions of wine tasting, dining, hiking, shopping, and sight-seeing.
If you're staying in Portland before or after your stop here, I may be able to direct you to other excellent Airbnb hosts in the city -- depending upon the size of your party. And if you have more people than will fit into our home for your stay, ask me about other options nearby in Dundee and Newberg. Other Airbnb hosts are not far away, so you may be able to split your group between our home and another.
