Cottage-by-the-Sea, Wilsons Prom!

Cabin - Entire home/apt · Manuka St, Sandy Point, VIC 3959, Australia

The Space

This is a fully furnished one bed room cottage perched on the edge of the sea surrounded by forests of ti trees. It is in Sandy Point, 2 and half hours drive from Melbourne. Sandy Point is half an hour drive from the famous Wilsons' Promonotory, a national park. Breath takingly beautiful Wilson's Prom is full of koalas, kangaroos, and other Aussie native animals that you can see in the wild. At night wombats and other nocturnal animals come out and with a torch, taking a walk, you can see these lovely gentle and shy animals. Nearby is Shallow Inlet, 5 minutes from my cottage, where you can wind surf, fish, swim and take absolutely divine walks on the beach.

The cottage or cabin or shack as Aussies would call it, is beautifully located in no through road corner. This road leads straight to the sea so perfectly safe for children and oldies as there are no traffic to watch out for. It has one bedroom and sleeps 4 people preferably couple in double bed and 2 children in bunks beds. There are sofa beds in the lounge room that can sleep two people. 4 adults and 2 kids is about the limit I will allow.

A fully equipped kitchen including pots and pans, stove, electric frying pan, microwave, toaster, kettle, griller and cutlery and crockery for 4-6 people. The bedrooms have doonas (or duvets) and blankets. BUT PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN DOONA COVERS, BEDSHEETS, PILLOW CASES AND TOWELS AND PERSONAL TOILETRIES.

The belly stove is new and is simply the cosiest in the world, well, my world anyway.

This is my holiday shack and once upon- a -time love nest, and I rent out the whole place now to raise money for my charity to do with starving orphans in E Timor, India and Melbourne. It is very family friendly and pets are allowed if they do not interfere with the wildlife ie our beloved koalas, wombats, etc.

Enjoy our holiday shack !

  • Lets start with the organisation. Moni was quick and efficient with communication! Great start. I found this last minute for australia weekend. Cosy little find. directions well laid out. the area is a cute little neighbourhood near a beach. be warned to get to the beach theres a hill and we saw a few snakes. But the sunset was mindblowing.
the cottage was great for our needs. we een found some board games! Very vintage feel, has a lot of preserved history. If your looking for a modern home/boutique stay then this isnt for you. if you want a great laugh with amenities secondary, this is the spot. Easy access to wilsons prom. Could do with a few more photos on here.
Downside no oven. Bring extra bedding, towels and we brought extra cooking stuff. and i searched for the koala to no avail hehe ;p
    Thanks moni.

  • Moni's place was fantastic. We especially enjoyed making a lovely fire at night when it got cooler outside. It was a perfect place for a get away from the city and we didn't just go to Wilson's Prom, we also spent a lot of time at the empty beach right next to the house (only 3 minutes walk). Since we went grocery shopping in Foster, the house felt like your own little holiday house. There really isn't anything there, except of a few neighbours. We loved that. Thanks Moni. :)

  • Moni's place is very nice and cozy which has everything you need. It is conveniently located in a peaceful area but is very easy to find. It's a few minutes drive to Wilson's Prom and is only a five minutes walk to the beautiful beach. Although I didn't get to meet Moni in person (even though she tried to wait to meet us), Moni was thoughtful enough to carefully explain to us all the great places around her house and how to get there. I would definitely recommend her place to anyone who wants a quiet, peaceful holiday!

  • Beautiful location , a brisk 10 minutes walk on a sandy track lots of scrubby surrounding bush, to a spectacular beach! Accommodation was 70's style, one bedroom with queen bed and bunks, with 70's style couch/bed in lounge area. Moni promised wood to keep us warm- and there was plenty there. We needed it as was a cold weekend. Great place to stay if you are wanting the basic comforts in a beautiful location. Thank you. Moni - we will book with you again..

  • I highly recommend this cozy home! It was great and exactly what we wanted.

Sandy Point is tucked away from the concrete jungle but close enough to other towns for all your food/entertainment needs.

Moni was quick on the return emails and phone calls. A great host! (although we never met)

    Hi Pat
thanks so much! Great guest you are!

  • Moni's cottage is a super cosy place 5min walk to a very beautiful beach at Sandy Point. We found the weather a little humid while we're down there (early/mid march). But turn on the aircon/dryer and it's perfect! Would definitely go back and stay there again the location is perfect :)

  • We had a lovely stay in this quaint, retro beach house. Amazingly wide beaches just across the road. Host Moni was very sweet and helpful.

Thank you Andrew. Yes, the house is rather retro and don't you love the wall paper? You and your wife and little doggies cleaned up my shack so well that I hardly dare stepped in last weekend when I came. It was so clean. Thank you for being so thoughtful.

  • We got really lucky with the weather. The place is a delight more of a beach shack than a cottage. A two minute walk to the beach. The best wall paper I've ever seen. The whole thing was a dream! Thanks Moni!

  • I had a great stay here. All pre visit comms were great and everything was as explained when I arrived. Location for me was prefect only 2 mins to beach and my stay really comfortable. Wilson prom about 1hr drive away is the most amazing place I have visited. Thank you

    Response from Moni:

Hi Merv I am so happy that you had a good time at Wilson's Prom. Next time when you want to come again, let me know and I will give a night free. Also thank you taking the time to give my little cottage a review. I know I can still improve on the inside but I simply don't have enough time to do everything. I also have a beach hut on the island on Langkawi in malaysia. I am there now cleaning up and getting it ready for the high season. check out Langkawi Hut on (website hidden). If you ever want to visit Malaysia, let me know. Buddha blessings, Moni

  • Moni 's house must surely be located in one of the most heavenly places on earth. Easy access to pristine wilderness and magnificent beaches. Quiet and comfortable, the house has all the basics you require for one of those weeks at the beach that harked back to my childhood: days spent swimming, walking and eating good food.

About
I am a writer, playwright, poet and a seasoned traveller, consulting all over the globe (0ver 20 years) on doing business in Asia and Australia. Airbnb is great for me as it is a collaborative community of like minded people. I enjoy doing it tremendously meeting all sorts, shapes and colours in my listings in Australia. My partner in travel is Felipe or Phil. He is bilingual (English & Spanish) having lived in south america for 20 years. Together we roam round the world singing, putting events on and generally have a good time. Felipe has a listing in Langkawi, Malaysia on airbnb as well. Langkawi Hut - 10 steps to the sea is quite an experience and we live there when we are not in Brighton 4 doors to the sea. As you can see, we love the sea. We should have been born as dolphins. For more about us, you will need to come and stay with us.
