I have enjoyed staying at your beautiful home and Jamaica Plain. When I come back again in January it will feel as if coming back home.
Thank you for being such a wonderful host and thank you for the list of places to see and visit. I have 2 or 3 more places to see when I come back.
Roberto was a wonderful host. We telephoned him just before our arrival and he met us at the curb and helped with our luggage. He was friendly and charming. He gave us a tour of his apartment, explained the rules, provided us with a key asked what we might need and turned us loose. The listing and the photographs were accurate. The place was very clean and bright. Decorative artwork was everywhere. It was lovely to look at and most interesting. Our room was very comfortable. Parking was available close by or on the next block. The apartment is part of a cooperative complex with 30 owners. A large, grassy courtyard also included vegetable gardens and a small pond and waterfall. The residents were friendly and engaging. Within a block in each direction there were cafes for light meals or snacks. The MBTA station was a short distance away.
Roberto, however, was the best part of the stay. He showed us how make coffee in the Spanish manner, taught us about papayas, told us about his art, family and life experiences, gave us tips about where to eat. He listened when we spoke of our lives, families and experiences. He tolerated my attempts at speaking Spanish and encouraged me to learn more.
We will remember our stay with Robert for a long time. It was a wonderful experience.
Everything was just as expected...if not better. Roberto's son was a great host. Just minutes away from the T in a nice neighborhood...I would stay there again and recommend it.
I had a wonderful 3 nights and 4 days in Boston staying at Roberto's residence while attending the Partners in Health community coordinator training institute ((website hidden)). He was a wonderful host and the room was comfortable and functional. The residence is located in a unique cooperative building with very friendly neighbors and a large courtyard. It was only a few blocks to the Orange Line stop, so very convenient for getting around Boston. The best part of the stay was having dinner with Roberto while we got to know each other. We had much in common and I look forward to continuing contact and a return visit next year to stay at Roberto's.
Roberto is a generous and gracious host. He welcomed us into his home, and gave us a detailed tour of the larger co-housing development (this was of particular interest to me since I'm an architect).
This room is very convenient to Boston mass transit, and the area is safe, pleasant and walkable. We enjoyed our time in Boston and our stay with Roberto.
Note that this is an urban environment near the T and a busy street. If you are sensitive to noise, you may want to pack some earplugs for sleeping.
Thank you Jack, I liked your honest review. Since we are in an urban setting, never occur to me the noise that we are facing. Its true I am aware of it when I am coming from the countryside or similar. Not as noise as it could be for example NY, but yes, mostly the subway produce a noise that is not for a perfect sleep. That is the price we the Bostonians have to pay for having the T close to us and the price many citizens of a dense city like Boston unfortunately have to pay.
But I will add a clarification line into my page announcing future guests of this situation, and I can provide earplugs to them.
Roberto-San was very welcoming and a great host. He provided wide varieties of fruits/cereals/juice for breakfast. The room was spacious and clean. We enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you!
Roberto was so kind from the day we booked his place until the very last day we stayed with him. This was our first time visiting Boston and he gave us great recommendations about where to go and what to see. Despite the 3PM check-in time, he let us come in earlier because our flight got in earlier that day. He also let us borrow an umbrella the first day we got there.
It was also really nice to stay in Jamaica Plains (Roberto's place specifically) because it's not necessarily a neighboorhood that tourists visit so it was a good opportunity to explore that area.
The only negative thing was that we had such a short stay. I would have loved to have more time to chat with Roberto. Maybe next time!

Uruguayan born, international by heart and settled in Boston since 84, Roberto was selected as Visual Artist "Best of Boston" (2011) by a popular magazine. Roberto has worked as a community artist all his professional life. His murals tell about culture and diversity in the streets of Boston. Well known in the city and of the city, Roberto is a great guide. Taking a visit to some of his murals will not only be beneficial to learn about the different neighborhoods as well as entertaining.
We have lived here and during nine years at the JPCohousing/condominium in Boston. My two grown up children are away doing what they always liked to do in NY.
We have a 1K square foot condominium and 10K square fee Common House space with a huge kitchen, living, laundry, children playroom and rumpus room, elevator, etc. We love this place and our sunny three bedroom unit. We have a great and diverse community here of committed individuals who make this place unique, safe and very pleasant to live.
