Charming 224 year old farm house in rural New Hampshire yet within 15 minutes to Concord and 1 hour to mountains and ocean. The Contoocook River runs along our property, we have walking trails and a state park next door.
Breakwind Farm is 223 year old 6 acre farm located in a quaint and rural community just outside of Concord NH. In the summer months we have a small organic herb and vegetable garden and sell our produce at our stand and at the local Farmers Markets.
Our property runs along the Contoocook River where you can cross country ski or snowshoe in the winter, and swim and explore by canoe or kayak in the summer. We are also within walking distance to Elm Brook Park with walking/xcountry ski trails, swimming, picnic and recreational facilities. For downhill skiing, scenic vistas, auto road and hiking, Pat's Peak is a 10 minute drive, Mount Kearsage State Park is 20 minutes north, and Mount Sunapee, less than 30 minutes. If you like the adventure of snowmobiling, mountain biking, dirt biking or ATV riding, bring your vehicles because we have 2 parks located near us; Clough State Park in Weare, NH, and the Hopkinton-Everett Recreation park down the street. Love golf? Duston Country Club golf club is a ten minute drive.
Our town may be rural but the capital of New Hampshire, Concord, is just 15 minutes away where you have access to shopping, restaurants and cultural events. The White Mountains, Boston and seacoast are also within 1- 1 1/2 hours by car or bus. As you can see there is no shortage of activities in the area, however if you would just like to sit and watch the garden grow, please feel free to enjoy the solitude, or we would always welcome help with gardening and picking vegetables if you are so inclined.
In the evening, relax by the fire pit and enjoy the sound of the peepers and crackling fire, or indulge in the warmth of the outdoor hot tub (except July and August). On the weekends we'll have a batch of our original Breakwind Farm Beans cooking for the Farmers Market. Have a free sample and canned baked beans will never be the same.
Come and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and traffic and enjoy the country life for a few days or a week. You will feel refreshed and renewed and won't be disappointed ...like us, you'll probably never want to go back!
We usually have one or two bedrooms available, one with a full and twin bed, the other with one full bed (see our other, seasonal listing). Our bathroom is shared and downstairs. You can use the kitchen, dining room, 3 season room, living room, porch, hot tub (except in July and August), grill and outdoor eating area. If you have a larger crowd, we also have plenty of space available for campers! We also use one of our bedrooms to host helper from all over the world to work at Breakwind. We have a friendly dog and a cat.
*small disclaimer: On the weekends we vendor at local farmers markets. In the morning we may be getting our vehicles loaded with market supplies. After the markets we use the kitchen (approx 2 hour) to clean up, and we then store the supplies in the dining room for the following day. If you need to use either the kitchen or dining room during those times, just let us know. We will happily work around your schedule!

A cozy and welcoming home with a sweet cat as the welcoming committee. The farm is neat and we'd love to go back in the spring and summer when the veggies are out. Rick and Patti provided anything we could have needed; we instantly felt at home and would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We were welcomed to the home, and set up in the room right away. There was plenty of space, and the bed was very comfortable. The house was very cozy inside, and they had a very friendly cat who hung out with us. The area was amazing, and we had a nice time in the small town near-by. It was exactly like we thought it would be. There was plenty of information on a table right next to the room about activities in the area.
Rick and Patti were wonderful hosts! The room was comfy and clean. They made sure we had everything we needed and showed us how to use the hot tub and where everything was at. We forgot our flip-flops but Patti had extras for us to use which was very nice. The hot tub is a MUST! We lucked out and it was a clear night so we could see tons of stars.
We went snowshoeing at Elm Brook (about a mile away) and it was a great little spot. The day we left we made the 30 minute drive to Mt. Sunapee and snowboarded for the day.
Breakwind farm is the perfect place to rest at the end of your day on your winter adventure. We HIGHLY recommend their "Fiery Texas Tornado" baked beans:)
Rick and Patti were wonderful hosts! They were very fun to talk to, the place was beautiful, clean, and the hot tub was glorious! They helped provide great dinner/breakfast recommendations and made great baked beans that we were able to try! I would highly recommend staying with them; I plan on going back next time I am in lower NH!
We had a very relaxing stay and enjoyed the snowshoeing trails and hot tub! Great quiet escape from the busy city. Thank you for welcoming us!
Patti and Rick were both very friendly and welcoming. Very comfortable bed; quiet, peaceful area well away from the crowds. I'm glad I stayed.

My Husband and I run a small organic garden and sell our vegetables at a stand outside our house and at local farmers markets. We are also the Owner and Chief Bean Counter of Breakwind Farm's FARTOOTEMPTING Organic Baked Beans which we sell at markets and events throughout the region.
We purchased our 6 acre 1790 farmhouse 3 years ago and have been slowly renovating the house and working on the gardens. We added solar electric and hot water this summer in an ongoing effort to become self sustaining in the next few years. We both love to travel, especially if we can ski and snowboard, but most of our free time is spent working in the gardens and renovating. Some of the bedrooms upstairs need updating. They are all clean and cozy, but the wallpaper is peeling in spots and it does show its age, so it is rustic but quite quaint.
During the summer months we use one of our 3 spare bedroom to host helpers from all over the world through sites like Workaway, Helpx and WWOOF. Our helpers lend a hand with our gardens, farm stand and markets in exchange for room and board. We very much enjoy conversing with them and learning about others cultures and lifestyles.
We look forward to welcoming our Airbnb guests and sharing all that Breakwind Farm has to offer!
