The Space

Breakwind Farm is 220 year old 6 acre farm located in a quaint and rural community just outside of Concord NH. In the summer months we (email hidden) herb and vegetable garden and sell our produce at our stand and at the local Farmers Markets.

Our property runs along the Contoocook River where you can cross country ski or snowshoe in the winter, and swim and explore by canoe or kayak in the summer. We are also within walking distance to Elm Brook Park with walking/xcountry ski trails, swimming, picnic and recreational facilities. For downhill skiing, scenic vistas, auto road and hiking, Pat's Peak is a 10 minute drive, Mount Kearsage State Park is 20 minutes north, and Mount Sunapee, less than 30 minutes. If you like the adventure of snowmobiling, mountain biking, dirt biking or ATV riding, bring your vehicles because we have 2 parks located near us; Clough State Park in Weare, NH, and the Hopkinton-Everett Recreation park down the street. Love golf? Duston Country Club golf club is a ten minute drive.

Our town may be rural but the capital of New Hampshire, Concord, is just 15 minutes away where you have access to shopping, restaurants and cultural events. The White Mountains, Boston and seacoast are also within 1- 1 1/2 hours by car or bus. As you can see there is no shortage of activities in the area, however if you would just like to sit and watch the garden grow, please feel free to enjoy the solitude, or we would always welcome help with gardening and picking vegetables if you are so inclined.

In the evening, relax by the fire pit and enjoy the sound of the peepers and crackling fire, or indulge in the warmth of the outdoor hot tub. On the weekends we'll have a batch of our original Breakwind Farm Beans cooking for the Farmers Market. Have a free sample and canned baked beans will never be the same.

Come and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and traffic and enjoy the country life for a few days or a week. You will feel refreshed and renewed and won't be disappointed ...like us, you'll probably never want to go back!

We usually have two bedrooms available, one with a full and twin bed, the other with two full size floor mattresses (see our other listing). Our bathroom is shared. You have full use of the kitchen, dining room, 3 season room, living room, porch, hot tub (except in July and August), grill and outdoor eating area. If you have a larger crowd, we also have plenty of space available for campers!

  • Patti was very courteous and helpful. The bed was very comfortable, room well ventilated, with a choice of a fan or air conditioner. Their cat is very friendly, too.

  • I loved staying at this farm. My only regret was not tasting the beans! Great room, perfect space, lovely bad. Had a wonderful time and wished I was there longer.

  • Breakwind farm was the most wonderful place to stay. We loved meetiing Rick and Patti so much we stayed on for another night! Great communications and advice - couldn't have been more helpful. Loved the swim in the lake with the Finnish guests and the hot tub too of course. Felt so comfortable in your home - forgot to try the beans and swim in the river - we will have to come back. Great value too. Thanks so much. Jane and Martin

  • We had a lovely stay at Breakwind Farm! Patti and Rick were wonderful hosts - very welcoming to us and to our collie/shepherd mix, Toby. Our beautiful blue room upstairs was extremely comfortable and spacious, complete with extra special touches - there was a white terry cloth bathrobe and pair of flip flops for each of us in our room, as well as a basket of toiletries, bottled water, & granola bars sitting on our dresser. Each morning in the kitchen, there were coffee and tea fixings, and bread, butter, and jam for toast. We felt so "at home", and highly recommend Breakwind (email hidden) for a relaxing getaway in the beauty of New Hampshire!

  • 1790's Farmhouse was the perfect respite to end my trip to Boston and New Hampshire. Rick is easygoing, the room is comfortable and clean, and the coffee is good. I didn't get to meet Patti but look forward to it on another trip out that way.

  • How much more fun than a bed and breakfast! Patti made us feel right at home, and we had an awesome visit hearing about Breakwind adventures, checking out the farm, soaking in the hot tub, resting soundly overnight and sharing coffee in the morning.

  • This was the perfect place for me to unwind at the end of the day. I was very relaxed and really felt like a friend just visiting rather than a stranger. The place was clean and the bed VERY comfortable. The room was quiet and if I really wanted company Trixie the cat was always willing to share some time with me. The hot tub was such a bonus to a long day and just a beautiful spot. I plan to visit Rick and Patti again!

  • This was my first Air BnB experience, and it could not have been better. Patti and Rick were perfect hosts. They even had a binder of local places to visit. We did visit the restaurant they suggested, and it was the perfect recommendation! We look forward to returning!

  • I have stayed here for two weeks and have already sent in a review. This place is very quiet and just a perfect refuge after a long hectic day traveling for work. Ideal for the business traveler or vacationer.

Owner and Chief Bean Counter, Breakwind Farm
About
My Husband and I (email hidden) garden and sell our vegetables at a stand outside our house and at local farmers markets. We are also the Owner and Chief Bean Counter of Breakwind Farm's FARTOOTEMPTING Organic Baked Beans which we sell at markets and events throughout the region. We purchased our 6 acre 1790 farmhouse 3 years ago and have been slowly renovating the house and working on the gardens. We added solar electric and hot water this summer in an ongoing effort to become self sustaining in the next few years. We both love to travel, especially if we can ski and snowboard, but most of our free time is spent working in the gardens and renovating. Some of the bedrooms upstairs need updating. They are all clean and cozy, but the wallpaper is peeling in spots and it does show its age, so it is rustic but quite quaint. During the summer months we use one of our 3 spare bedroom to host helpers from all over the world through sites like Workaway, Helpx and WWOOF. Our helpers lend a hand with our gardens, farm stand and markets in exchange for room and board. We very much enjoy conversing with them and learning about others cultures and lifestyles. We look forward to welcoming our Airbnb guests and sharing all that Breakwind Farm has to offer! *small disclaimer: In the summer we vendor at farmers markets on the weekends. In the morning we may be getting our vehicles loaded with market supplies. After the markets we use the kitchen (approx 2 hour) to clean up, and we then store the supplies in the dining room for the following day. If you need to use either the kitchen or dining room during those times, just let us know. We will happily work around your schedule!
