Like our place? NOTE: We are in the process of acquiring our City of Austin STL Permit, and are currently only allowed to list it for 30-day rentals. But, if you like what you see, drop us a line: we'll be ready for shorter-term rentals ASAP.
East Austin is the place to be. We're centrally located and everything you will want to do (UT, East Sixth, Downtown, SoCo) is just a short bus/train ride, taxi (approx $10 to Downtown with tip), or drive away.
A quick 15 minute walk to Metro Rail puts you right in the heart of downtown for SXSW. Take the bus or walk (20 minutes) to the UT Campus for Longhorn games.
The unit is half of a duplex that we own - the other half is rented. Unit A is our Austin home, since we split our time between Austin and San Francisco (the two greatest cities in the US of A!). We are vintage dealers and one of us is an architect by training. We've furnished the place with some cool, mid-century designer stuff, so the place has a great Austin vibe.
It's a 2 bedroom/1bath apartment with small yard, concrete floors and great furnishings. One bedroom has a queen bed, and the other a full-sized one. The kitchen is ready for cooking real meals at home, but take note: it is stocked like a vacation home, not a chef's fantasy kitchen. Pets welcome - we LOVE dogs! Pet fee is $25 per night (willing to negotiate lower rate for longer stays).
Take a sweet 3-block walk to Manor Road's "restaurant row". You'll find cool bars and great restaurants including new places like School House Pub and the Haymaker and old standbys like El Chilito, Salty Sow, East Side Cafe, Thunderbird Coffee (& bar), in.gredients (grocery & bar), Mi Madre's, Butterfly Bar, Vivo!, Elaine's Pork & Pie, Hoovers, Schoolhouse. Also, MLK Blvd keeps adding charm to our 'hood: Bennu Coffee, Wet Whistle Grocery, Austin Daily Press, and Joe's Place.
Kids are welcome. The house is pretty "kid-safe", not a lot of "breakables" but the vintage furniture DOES have a lot of pointy corners. The yard is fully enclosed if your kids want to run around, and there is a park with a playground a few blocks away. Also, our neighborhood is full of family-friendly restaurants.
You'll LOVE staying here.

My father and my boyfriend and I had a great little stay at Christopher and David's... love the chips and beer, and it's a great location close to UT Austin and some cute bars, restaurants and grocers. We mostly interacted with the property manager, Rebecca, who was helpful in letting us arrange to stay one more day. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a place to crash and bar-b-que during their Austin adventures.
This was a simple but nice place, perfect for what we needed. It's VERY East Austin, from the cinderblocks and concrete to the driveway to the land-o-plants in front. However, that made the experience for us.
Everything itself was super cute. There were menus and maps left for us, as well as beer, chips and salsa! It was little touches like this that made it worth it!
We will definitely be coming back!
Nice place, about a 9 dollars cab ride from 6th street. Clean and pretty. The checkin/out process is flexible and efficient, all question were answered quickly, and a nice surprise waited for us in the fridge. We recommend this place
My stay in Austin was enjoyable and the accommodation was ideal for my trip. It is a quaint place with most everything you need. I especially liked the bag of chips, salsa and a six pack of Lone Star to enjoy upon arrival. There are speakers to plug your phone into for music and a bbq in the back which I did use. It is quiet and the off street parking is great. It was easy to get downtown and back and to other neighborhoods. The communication was perfect and very proactive. I recommend this place to people visiting Austin.
This is a cute rental, in a great neighborhood. Lots of places to eat (etc) within walking distance & easy to get downtown by car or public transit. Christopher & David made the check-in and booking process easy, and had lots of good local recommendations. Though they were not in town, they had a local person who was very responsive and friendly. Thanks very much!
This place is stylish, comfortable, and felt just like home. It had everything I needed inside and out. The backyard and front sitting area were great for morning coffee and a book. The neighborhood is quiet with kind neighbors who say hello when I'm out walking to get tacos or coffee. Anyone from out of town or who lives in Austin would appreciate this place. The hosts have a fantastic and tasteful suggestion list of all the great places to go and I agree with all of them. I loved every minute I was there and I'd love to stay again in the future! The hospitality was far beyond what I expected. Thank you so much for hosting such a wonderful home.
We couldn't have asked for a better introduction to Austin. We immediately felt at home when we walked in. Chris and David put together a great care package of city guides and goodies. They even listed numerous places within walking distance. Austin Daily Press has amazing sandwiches and is right up the road! We had a small snafu with the AC one day, but Chris and David responded promptly and it was quickly fixed. Amazing turnaround service! They shaped our Austin experience brilliantly; we'd definitely stay here again.
What a GREAT place to stay in Austin! We came for a long weekend to celebrate our daughter's graduation and had a fantastic stay here. Close to campus and where she lives in a very nice, safe neighborhood, this little place has everything you need. We cooked in one night and the kitchen was equipped so well, plus nice area to eat. We sat outside a few times enjoying the great breeze and had a happy hour out back in the chairs provided. When we arrived there were cold beers plus chips/salsa to sustain us until lunch time!! Also the bathroom had some toiletries in case you forget anything. Everything was Super Clean and convenient. Since our daughter is in a PhD program we will be coming back to Austin many more times in the future and hope we can stay here again. Close to campus, good food and nice area. Our son could not make it so we had an extra bedroom that we used as an office too- it is set up with a desk). Super Cool and Super Great place to stay.
This a great place in the best neighborhood in Austin!!
Very comfortable and well appointed, and within walking distance to many great places. The hosts are easy to deal with and the booking. / check in / check out couldn't be simpler.
I would stay here again and recommend to friends.
Christopher and David's beautiful house is perfect for two couples to stay. We stayed for four nights and had no problems. The house has everything you need, clean linens and towels, shampoo, kitchen ustensils and good quality coffee too! I wished we could do barbecue but we just did not have enough time. It was our first time in Austin so the following remark may not be accurate but I felt like the house is in a gentrified neighborhood which I liked a lot. We did grocery shopping at a nearby local/organic market called Ingredients and loved it. Oh the highlight of our stay was definitely Netflix, thank you so much for sharing it! My only complaint would be that the room facing the street can get a little noisy due to students partying on the weekends, but hey Austin is a college town.
Unfortunately we could not meet Christopher and David in person. The property manager Rebecca was in charge instead. She was very responsive, kind and helpful. I totally recommend staying here. It's better if you have a car; the house has a parking spot.
