Super cool East Austin 2 bedroom!

The Space

East Austin is the place to be. We're centrally located and everything you will want to do (UT, East Sixth, Downtown, SoCo) is just a short bus/train ride, taxi (approx $10 to Downtown with tip), or drive away.

A quick 15 minute walk to Metro Rail puts you right in the heart of downtown for SXSW. Take the bus or walk (20 minutes) to the UT Campus for Longhorn games.

The unit is half of a duplex that we own - the other half is rented. Unit A is our Austin home, since we split our time between Austin and San Francisco (the two greatest cities in the US of A!). We are vintage dealers and one of us is an architect by training. We've furnished the place with some cool, mid-century designer stuff, so the place has a great Austin vibe.

It's a 2 bedroom/1bath apartment with small yard, concrete floors and great furnishings. One bedroom has a queen bed, and the other a full-sized one. The kitchen is ready for cooking real meals at home, but take note: it is stocked like a vacation home, not a chef's fantasy kitchen. Pets welcome - we LOVE dogs! Pet fee is $25 per night (willing to negotiate lower rate for longer stays).

Take a sweet 3-block walk to Manor Road's "restaurant row". You'll find cool bars and great restaurants including new places like School House Pub and the Haymaker and old standbys like El Chilito, Salty Sow, East Side Cafe, Thunderbird Coffee (& bar), in.gredients (grocery & bar), Mi Madre's, Butterfly Bar, Vivo!, Elaine's Pork & Pie, Hoovers, Schoolhouse. Also, MLK Blvd keeps adding charm to our 'hood: Bennu Coffee, Wet Whistle Grocery, Austin Daily Press, and Joe's Place.

Kids are welcome. The house is pretty "kid-safe", not a lot of "breakables" but the vintage furniture DOES have a lot of pointy corners. The yard is fully enclosed if your kids want to run around, and there is a park with a playground a few blocks away. Also, our neighborhood is full of family-friendly restaurants.

You'll LOVE staying here.

  • We loved Christopher and David's place! The location is very convenient as you can hop onto I-35 in less than 5 minutes. The house is cozy with a huge backyard. We are looking forward to bringing our dogs back here next time we visit Austin! Thank you for a great stay guys!

  • I had a great time in this wonderful space on the East side! Apart from the house's great location, the furnishings are super fun and there were even chips and beer provided as a welcoming gift. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Everything was so easygoing!

  • Super cute and great place to stay while in Austin! It was within walking distance to some great restaurants and bars.
The backyard was perfect for the dog too.

  • It was a great place in a great area! I wasn't too far from a brisk walk downtown, and there were plenty of wonderful bars and restaurants around. It was a perfect peaceful getaway from the insanity of sxsw. Thank you!

  • My father and my boyfriend and I had a great little stay at Christopher and David's... love the chips and beer, and it's a great location close to UT Austin and some cute bars, restaurants and grocers. We mostly interacted with the property manager, Rebecca, who was helpful in letting us arrange to stay one more day. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a place to crash and bar-b-que during their Austin adventures.

  • This was a simple but nice place, perfect for what we needed. It's VERY East Austin, from the cinderblocks and concrete to the driveway to the land-o-plants in front. However, that made the experience for us.

Everything itself was super cute. There were menus and maps left for us, as well as beer, chips and salsa! It was little touches like this that made it worth it!

We will definitely be coming back!

  • Nice place, about a 9 dollars cab ride from 6th street. Clean and pretty. The checkin/out process is flexible and efficient, all question were answered quickly, and a nice surprise waited for us in the fridge. We recommend this place

  • My stay in Austin was enjoyable and the accommodation was ideal for my trip. It is a quaint place with most everything you need. I especially liked the bag of chips, salsa and a six pack of Lone Star to enjoy upon arrival. There are speakers to plug your phone into for music and a bbq in the back which I did use. It is quiet and the off street parking is great. It was easy to get downtown and back and to other neighborhoods. The communication was perfect and very proactive. I recommend this place to people visiting Austin.

  • This is a cute rental, in a great neighborhood. Lots of places to eat (etc) within walking distance & easy to get downtown by car or public transit. Christopher & David made the check-in and booking process easy, and had lots of good local recommendations. Though they were not in town, they had a local person who was very responsive and friendly. Thanks very much!

  • This place is stylish, comfortable, and felt just like home. It had everything I needed inside and out. The backyard and front sitting area were great for morning coffee and a book. The neighborhood is quiet with kind neighbors who say hello when I'm out walking to get tacos or coffee. Anyone from out of town or who lives in Austin would appreciate this place. The hosts have a fantastic and tasteful suggestion list of all the great places to go and I agree with all of them. I loved every minute I was there and I'd love to stay again in the future! The hospitality was far beyond what I expected. Thank you so much for hosting such a wonderful home.

Hi! We're Christopher and David, and we've been together for almost eleven years. We own a duplex in East Austin, TX, and an apartment in the Castro District in San Francisco, CA. We split our time between the two cities - two of the best places in the US - and love sharing our home with folks visiting either one. David is an architect by training and has been working in the vintage retail business the past twelve years. Christopher has a PhD in health promotion and is a self-employed health and wellness professional. As a team, we have designed a variety of events, remodeled a few houses, and ran a retail vintage business in Austin and San Francisco. Our former vintage store, Room 4, on Valencia Street in San Francisco, was featured in a number of publications. Our latest adventure is working on a pop up hotel - look for us. We'll probably be near a location or festival near you soon. Our San Francisco apartment was featured on Apartment Therapy. Check it out! (website hidden) We have two dogs, Deano and Gary, and a cat named Tuesday. We love pets and welcome yours into either of our homes. We love both of the cities we call home and want you to enjoy them to their fullest. We selected both places because they are close to the things that we love doing most - like good beer and food with friends, art and museums, live music and dancing. If you need some advice about what to do, ask us. We'll be more than happy to share. We hope you love our homes as much as we do. best, Christopher and David
