Retreat to this sustainable forest hideaway outside the heart of Puerto Princesa. This open-air cottage tucked away among the trees features curtains instead of walls, allowing the sunlight and breeze to peek through. Fall asleep to the chirping of crickets and wake up to the crowing of roosters. Take a relaxing walk in our forest and enjoy sunset drinks by our saltwater pool. Have breakfast, chill, or work in the bamboo pavilion, built to showcase our local building techniques and artists.

The space
The forest kubo is your own private cottage amongst the trees. It includes a king size bed and a lounge bed with mosquito nets. There is a sitting area with a table, handwoven floor mats to lounge on, and a dressing area at the back.

Located inside a forested 4 hectare fenced property, the kubo has full curtains instead of solid walls. The drapes dance in the breeze, giving you privacy, as well as light and ventilation.

The kubo is equipped with solar lights and fans, and a solar battery box for USB charging. The hut has high-speed wifi access*.

Semi-outdoor cold showers and toilets are located a short walk down the forest from the hut. Guests have access to our 18m saltwater pool, and are welcome to explore our forest paths. At the heart of our property is the big bamboo pavilion, our shared space where you can have meals, hang out by the bar, or work and charge your devices.


*Please note- we cannot guarantee internet access. When it works it is very fast, but there are times when the service provider is down and there’s nothing we can do about it.

Guest access
Guests will have access to the grounds and shared facilities, such as the pool and forest paths. The bamboo pavilion is our big shared space with a bar and various sitting areas where guests can work, charge devices, eat and drink, or just hang out.

We have 3 huts and a villa. These are private for the guests that book. Please respect each other's private areas.

Other things to note
Location
Ideal for a retreat away from town, we are located about 20-30 minutes from the centre and the airport. Public transport via tricycle is a 15-minute walk away, but car or motorbike rental can be arranged ahead of time if you want to explore on your own. Most tour buses and vans will come pick you up from the pedestrian entrance (which involves a 5 minute walk through the forest.)

**Please note that our road is difficult to find. It is very important that you let us know how you are planning on getting here so that we can give you the correct directions. There's a section of road that is bumpy, but most cars and motorbikes are able to pass.


Airport/Town Pick-up Service
We offer an airport/town pick-up and service for P500 if the car is available. Please let us know in advance so we can make arrangements.


Food
Our restaurant is not yet fully operational, but we have a small breakfast menu that you can order from. Best to let us know your breakfast orders the night before so that we can make arrangements.

We can also cook lunch and dinners, but it's family style, and we cook the same for everyone. **Please let us know in advance whether you have any dietary restrictions, so we can plan the menus to include you.

You are welcome to bring your own food back from town, or have food delivered. Please allot extra "island time" for deliveries.

Water, coffee, juice and booze are readily available at the bar.


Accessibility
Ours is a hilly and forested property, with earthy and grassy terrain. Landscaping is still a work in progress, so please take care when walking around. Handmade tiles and carved stone pathways can be slippery when it rains. We build with nature in mind, so huts are lifted a few steps off the floor.


Animals
Please note, the property is very green and forested, so you'll be living close to nature. You'll see and hear frogs, crickets, birds and other animals.

**We also have three dogs and a cat. They are friendly and sociable (except for the cat, she only makes an appearance for special guests).

We are located in a quiet residential neighbourhood a just out of the main town. The nearest tourist areas are Bakers Hill and Mitra's Ranch, which are a 10-15 min walk away. The airport and city proper of Puerto Princesa are 20 minutes ride or about 9 kilometers away.
