The space
Enjoy recreation and relaxation in a cozy and well equipped cabin in beautiful and historic Berkeley Springs, WV.

This cabin is located in a quiet cove of the wilderness. In fact, a short drive from the DC and Baltimore Metro area as well as Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. This loft-style cabin creates a perfect environment for either a romantic getaway for two or a party of four. The open space creates a family style-friendly environment for all to enjoy. Visit YouTube and search "Moss Hill Berkeley Springs" for an informal video tour of the cabin.

The open kitchen allows great conversation to flow from the kitchen to the eat-in dining area, as well as the living room. This quaint cabin has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. The first bedroom has a king size bed, and the second bedroom has 2 single beds. From the living room, you can relish in the wonderful view of nature all while watching a movie. The 32 inch TV is equipped with cable, as well as access to ROKU TV (Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Pandora Radio access available).

Don't want to stay inside? Great! Enjoy time together on the large 600 square foot deck while grilling on the gas grill and catching up with friends and/or family. If you are so inclined, you can unwind in the new deluxe hot tub and still participate in the conversation. In sum, the deck provides ample opportunities of just relaxing and taking in the gorgeous scenery, particularly the mountain view. Enjoy the screened in porch on rainy days and watch a movie on the outdoor couch.

Guests have full access to the cabin and the surrounding 3.5 acres of property. Guests can also enjoy the community pond located on Oak Hill Road (the upper pond). Guests can park under the carport.

Local Interests

There are many things to do beyond Moss Hill. Below is a list of local attractions, shopping, grocery stores, liquor stores, restaurants, and bars. Below are a few of my favorite places:

Attractions:

Cacapon State Park: Enjoy miles of hiking trails, a beautiful scenic overlook, lake with a sand beach and paddle boat rentals, and a Trent Jones golf course.

Berkeley Springs State Park: Enjoy this beautiful park in downtown Berkeley Springs that has its own spa, public baths, mineral springs, and public pool. Don’t forget to check out George Washington’s bath tub.

Berkeley Springs Castle: Look above as you wander the state park in downtown and you’ll see a castle. That’s right, an actual castle overlooking the town. While not open for tours, you can drive into the entrance and snap a couple of photos.

Star Theater: This depression era movie theater on the main street shows second run movies for $4.50. The delicious popcorn is cheap too! And, for a dollar extra, you can reserve a couch.

Paw Paw Tunnel: Located about a 30 minute drive from Berkeley Springs, the Paw Paw tunnel is part of the C&O canal. Built in the mid 1800’s, the tunnel stretches over 3,000 feet.

New Earth Granary: The Granary offers an eclectic mix of entertainment brought to you by local musicians, artists, and players. For a list of events, visit

Atasia Spa: Quite simply the best spa in Berkeley Springs, Frankie Tan and the team at Atasia Spa offer many services at great prices.

Berkeley Springs Farmers Market: Located adjacent to the Berkeley Springs Park and across from the courthouse, this wonderful little farmers market offers fresh vegetables, flowers, and offerings from other local vendors. Open each Sunday from 11-2 and Thursdays from 2-5 during from April thru December. Thursday hours in July & August.

Shopping:

There are some really great shops in downtown Berkeley Springs. From antique malls to holistic shops, there is something for everyone. One of our favorite shops to find treasures is Youngbloods Antiques. It’s located roughly a mile east on RT 9 outside of Berkeley springs.

Groceries:

Food Lion: This full service grocery store has everything you need during your stay. Located at the south end of town off HWY 522. Just look for the McDonalds and you’re there.

Community Garden Market: Looking for something local and organic? Check out the Community Garden Market. Located on the main street, this quaint little shop will help you get your organic on!

Liquor Stores:

7 Eleven: Yes, there is a small liquor store located inside this convenience store. The store is located at the intersection of HWY 522 and RT 9 South (at the bottom of the hill leading to the castle).

Top Shelf Liquors: For a better selection than 7 Eleven, check out Top Shelf Liquors located in a plaza off HWY 522 near the Dollar General. Address: 261 Berkmore Pl | Phone:

Dining:

Lot 12 Public House: Located in a beautifully restored Victorian home on a hill overlooking the town, Lot 12 boasts West Virginia’s only James Beard Chef. The restaurant offers high quality farm-to-table meals with a menu that changes every season. For the best dining experience, choose Lot 12. Reservations are required (phone number hidden).

Teri’s Café: Another upscale dining option in downtown Berkeley Springs. This restaurant offers great food by Chef Devon and the restaurant doubles as an art exhibition for local artists.

The Country Inn: Enjoy a meal in this historic inn situated next to Berkeley Springs State Park. Chef Scott Collinash will treat you to an ever expanding menu of local favorites at reasonable prices. Be sure to check out the amazing crab cakes! Don’t forget to wander around and check out the historic architecture while you’re there.

Ambrae House: Come and enjoy the outdoor patio and listen to music by local artists. This casual restaurant offers good food at good prices. The patio is also dog friendly. Don’t forget to check out the bang-bang shrimp and the delicious crab bisque.

Earth Dog Café: Want some good BBQ in a very relaxed environment? Check out the Earthdog! A very casual restaurant and bar offering large portions at unbeatable prices. Located at 398 S Washington St.

Bars:

The Troubadour Lounge: A true piece of West Virginia History awaits you at this honkey-tonk bar located a few miles from Moss Hill. This bar and grill also doubles at the West Virginia Country Music Hall of Fame and is owned by Jim McCoy, who discovered Patsy Cline. Enjoy $1.50 draft beers and the house drink, rocket fuel! If you’re lucky, they may be raffling off 10lb slabs of bacon during your visit. Local bands can also be heard outside against the backdrop of the beautiful valley and capped by the Cacapon mountain ridge. Directions: turn left when exiting Sleepy Creek forest. Go 1/8 mile and turn left to continue on Highland ridge road. Go approximately 4 miles. Just past the intersection of Ruppenthal road, the Troubadour will be on your left. Just look for the Christmas lights!

!!New!! Berkeley Springs Brewing Company: Enjoy some local brews at this brewery located on the south side of Berkeley Springs.

Mountaineer Sports Bar: Located in downtown Berkeley Springs, this bar offers sports fans a place to relax and watch the game.

**Don’t forget to check out the bars inside Lot 12, Ambrae House, Teri’s, Earth Dog, and the Country Inn. **

My work: Realtor in Berkeley Springs
Speaks English
Hi there! I’m a 40’s guy who now spends his time in West Virginia after spending 20 years as a banker in the DC region. I now spend most of my time these days in Berkeley Springs selling real estate (mostly vacation homes/Airbnb's) and taking care of my cabins. I have a cute dog named Harry and a wonderful husband of 14 years. I hope you enjoy Berkeley Springs as much as I do! Jim
