You'll be able to live a Parisian's life in a neighborhood both lively and elegant. Centrally located less than two minutes walking from Bastille square, major metro (lines 1, 5 and 8) and bus stops and a variety of shops, boutiques, grocery stores and cafes, as well as two popular bars/nightclubs just across the street; the apartment is quiet due to its location behind a security door, accessible through the peaceful courtyard. Neighboring sites include: the Marais (seven minutes by foot), Notre Dame (15 - 20 minutes walking) and the Latin Quarter (same as Notre Dame).
(please note: for possible guests with dander allergies, there is a dog and occasionally a cat living in the apartment with me when I'm not hosting anyone from airBnB)
Kitchen appliances and utilities, foodstuff in the refrigerator (eg milk, butter, homemade jam), cds, dvds and books. There is a Dutch bike that can be loaned to guests - to be decided on a guest by guest basis)
Interaction with Guests
Interaction with guests depends on the guests' preferences and my schedule. I am a historian by profession and have been born and grew up in Paris. I enjoy giving tips, travel advice and even tours if guests' like and if my schedule permits. Otherwise, I leave the guests' undisturbed during the entireity of their stay.
Bastille is in the heart of one of Paris' liveliest bar and club scenes, and their is a charming combination of upscale restaurants and low-end snack bars for all budgets, times and moods.
The metro intersects 3 of Paris' main metro lines and Bastille is one of the scheduled stops of both of the major bus tour companies.
Other Things to Note
There are many original paintings in the apartment and a large easel stand in the bedroom. Guests are allowed to exchange the paintings and exhibit the ones they like during their stay.
If something is broken, please notify me as soon as you can.
Pets are allowed, and I appreciate owners taking care of cleaning up after their pet and preventing any damage to the apartment or furniture.
Gaspard is a great host and was very accommodating of our needs. We were arriving at different times and he even agreed to come and meet us individually to let us into the apartment. The flat is really special, the paintings are beautiful, and the location is very convenient, just steps from Bastille metro stop, the marais, and loads of great shops and restaurants. Would definitely recommend to others!
Such a great place! It's close to everything (but quiet) and really unique. The artwork is amazing! The kitchen has all the essentials, so we were able to cook breakfast a couple times to save money on going out all the time. The table and couches were great to hang out and drink some wine in the evenings. Gaspard was not able to check us in, but sent a friend to let us into the place, and was really communicative and easy to reach during our stay. He came by to meet us when we checked out and to make sure everything went well. Definitely would recommend this place!
Gaspard was a very good host and we really enjoyed his apartment. He was very communicative during the booking process and provided easy directions for us to reach his place. The apartment was just as described, and in a convenient location. The paintings and books as well as the beautiful light that fills the space are a nice relief from bland, characterless rooms. Definitely recommended.
Great space and location with lots of character. The apartment is spacious and comfortable with plenty of artistic charm. It takes advantage of the Bastille neighborhood (proximity to sites and nightlife), but once inside the courtyard the building is very quiet. Gaspard was a good host, especially in his flexibility for our late arrival and departure times. An excellent choice for Paris.
Gaspard made our stay very easy, providing us in advance with all the information we needed for our arrival, departure, and stay, and arranging for a friend of his to welcome us.
We thoroughly enjoyed the flat and the neighbourhood. The apartment is bright, spacious, and quiet, and living amongst his great grandmother's canvases is a truly unique artistic experience. It's wonderful visiting Paris's Matisses and Seurats during the day, and then coming back to one's own beautiful collection in the evening.
The flat had everything we needed, and we would recommend it without hesitation.
