About this listing
Well stocked apartment so you can enjoy your vacation without further expenses!
The view of the bay from our lanai is stunning. This top floor apartment is located across the street from Anehoomaluu Bay between the Marriott and Hilton Hotels. It has ocean and mountain views and is walking distance to the Kings and Queens Shops. As it is set a bit further back from the road, it will be quieter than those units in the "A" or "B" buildings. It is most convenient to everything that Waikoloa Beach Resort has to offer. There are no additional "Resort Fees" or parking fees when you stay here.
The apartment features a newly remodeled master bathroom. New photos will be posted.
Prices are inclusive of Hawaii's 13.461 % tax, Relax in your two bedroom, two bathroom, vacation getaway. The Vistas are also situated on part of the Waikoloa Beach Golf Course (a Robert Trench Jones Jr. Design) The lanai is oversized with plenty of room to enjoy your morning coffee, meals or evening sunset cocktails, and a hammock for the ultimate relaxing. It is protected by the trade winds known to the Waikoloa area. On Property is a work out room as well as a 25 yard salt water lap pool with two hot tubs.
All the essentials you need for a comfortable stay are here. Kitchen has all the amenities of home (condiments, dish washer detergent, laundry detergent, etc) as well as an oversized washer and dryer. The units are very well built so there is no noise from neighbors. This condo is located on the dry side of the Big Island as it rarely rains here. We are about a 20 minute drive north of the Kona airport.(KOA) Costco is located about 10 minutes south of the airport, and is convenient for affordable groceries.
In the winter months, the sunsets from the lanai are amazing! From the bay, one can see the humpback whales that trek from Alaska to our waters. There are whale watching cruises available right across the street at Ocean Sports. You can also walk to the Hilton and hop on their tram or boats to see their amazing tropical resort. Also within walking distance is the Kings and Queen Shops which feature an upscale grocery store, wine bar, food court, restaurants, and shopping. "Lava, Lava" Beach Bar is located across the street as well. It's become a favorite place from which to enjoy a cocktail (known for their Mai Tai's ) with your feet in the sand.
Please be advised that there is no parking fee or resort fee here at the Vistas. Both the Hilton and Mariott, both located just across the street, charge upwards $25 daily for resort fees, one inclusive of parking, while the other one is extra.
Artists are most welcome! Please inquire about joining our weekly Friday Plein air sessions. Art Supplies can be provided (for a nominal fee) if arranged prior to your stay.
Guests have access to our exercise room located in the main office building as well as the pool , hot tubs, and BBQ Pavillion. (Pretty much everything an owner has access to)
Interaction with Guests
My husband or I will usually be present to welcome you upon checkin and/or checkout. We like to show our guests the Amenties and answer any questions they might have. We live about 10 minutes away so are frequently at the Vistas Complex.
If you are needing an airport pickup, we can be available ($60) if prior arrangements are made.
The neighborhood is a very safe resort , but tends to be a very quiet one. By 8:00pm, everything is pretty much wrapped up. Please be respectful of our neighbors. Quiet time is 10pm-8am.
If you are planning to just relax (pool and beach) here, then a car rental is not necessary. Inquire about our concierge services which can arrange to have your grocery shopping done for you, as well as airport pickup and drop off ($60 each way).
The resort is pretty much self sufficient. You can buy whatever groceries you need (though expensive on resort )and access the beach and pools. If you are only here for a few days, and want to relax, then I can arrange to personally have you picked up. There are bus tours from the Hilton from which you can book a Volcano/Island all day tour. A rental, however, gives you more flexibility. The island is big, and there are lots of places to explore.
Other Things to Note
Since my husband and I live on island, and are very close by, we can give you any local insights and tips on what to do, how best to do it, and what to avoid.
My husband, Peter, heads up the Kohala PleinAir Artists. Please join us on Fridays for our weekly painting sessions. If you need art supplies, we can provide them (water colors and oils, with canvas or paper) for a nominal fee.
As in Hawaiian Tradition, shoes are taken off at the front door. Please wipe your feet when coming in from the lanai, and leave sandy things at the front entry.mWe are situated on an active volcano and some ash does make to our lanai. Normally we have trade winds which keep the unit very comfortable, but should you use the air conditioner, please close all windows, and remember to turn it off whenever leaving the apartment. (Electricity is the most expensive here on the Big Island) As we live in the tropics, all garbage should be taken to the dumpster daily, and all food should be completely sealed or put in the refridge. Spray lotions should not be used in either the apartment or the lanai, as they tend to stain. Quite time is 10pm-8am.
My family had a good time and experience when staying in Lillian’s apartment. Actually I chose to stay here after reading other guest’s review. The fact proved that I had made a right decision.
The department is well decorated with free parking stall and is well appointed compared to a hotel, especially in kitchen. Just like staying in your own home, even better. The view is also great. You can see partial of sea and Mauna Loa Mountain. The location is very near to the Hilton and Marriott as well as beach.
Also Lillian is a very nice, cultured and hospitable lady. She had prepared many foods in refrigerator prior to our arrival. My daughter likes very much the gift given by Lillian and even was reluctant to leave.
All in all, we are very satisfied with the staying in Lillian’s great apartment.
Ich kann nur eins sagen ! Rundum perfekt.
Lillian's condo is perfectly situated within a short walk to the beach, shops, and great food. She goes out of her way to make herself available so that her guests can tap into her local knowledge and get the most out of their vacation. The condo is luxurious (great master bathroom remodel!) and the community salt water pool is better than many hotels I've stayed at.
This was our first time using Airbnb and me and my wife could not be happier with our stay at Lillian's place.
Lillian is an amazingly thoughtful and welcoming host. Communication with her was extremely easy and she was helpful beyond any of our expectations ( for example: 1. Lillian emailed us a day before our arrival to see what groceries we would like her to leave for us in the fridge because we were arriving late at night and all the shops would be closed. How thoughtful!!! Left us some groceries, wine, and chocolates. 2. In the morning she came to say "hi" and brought us two brand new frying pans in addition to those we already had. 3. Lillian gave us many helpful tips on what to do on the island and where to go and also let us use her access pass to one of the beach clubs not far from our resort).
About the apartment:
We felt like home. We had absolutely everything we could possibly need starting from the boogie boards and beach chairs and finishing with new toothbrushes and air freshener. Kitchen had absolutely everything we needed ( dishwasher, microwave, coffee grinder and coffee maker, toaster, stove....EVERYTHING!). We cooked at home instead of going out all the time. Lanai is beautiful and spacious, has gorgeous view. Everything in the apartment is clean, new and welcoming. Plenty of towels too.
The complex and the area:
It is a gated resort. Very clean and quite. Swimming pool and hot tubs are awesome. Most importantly it is very clean and sanitary and NOT crowded at all. We really liked going there after the sun set. It is very romantic and relaxing experience. There is also gym but we didn't use it. Waikoloa is a great location to stay on the Big Island. We were there right after the hurricane when it was supposed to rain everywhere for 10 days according to weather channel. In Waikoloa the weather was great: sunny and hot. Perfect for beach time. There are 3 beautiful beaches 15 minutes drive up north from this place and there are also 2 hotels with free beach access 10 minutes walk away.
Overall we are extremely satisfied with our stay at Vistas Waikoloa and wold recommend this place to everyone. Lillian, thank you very much for making our first experience with airbnb so pleasant. We will be back.
Thank you for your review. I am glad that you had a good time! You and your family are welcome anytime! I, myself, have used Airbnb for my travel stays, and have learned a lot from other hosts. I always ask for feedback to make the next guests stay even more comfortable. Of course, the location is wonderful. Waikoloa is a great location for a beach holiday as there are such few rainy days. The beaches here are truly lovely. There is no night life to speak of, but once you spend your days in the sun, you rarely have any energy left after the sun sets. I am looking forward to your return! Aloha and A Hui Hou!
If you are looking for an amazing place to stay, then this is the place for you. It was a beautiful, well laid out apartment with gorgeous views and in a lovely condo complex. Plenty of space to stretch out and we loved the Lanai!
The swimming pool and gym are great places to relax after a day of touring the island. Location is very good as well. Lillian was very friendly and welcomed us to her condo with a bottle of wine and chocolates waiting on the table. The shops and beach are an easy walk and we highly recommend the gorgeous beaches along the coast. Thank you Lillian for your kindness and welcome to your little piece of paradise. Mahalo!
Just awesome! Lillian is the best hostess ever and was there to meet us when we arrived. In addition to a *FANTASTIC* condo (more on that in a bit), you're also getting the inside track on where to shop and save money, fantastic places to visit, eat, etc from a knowledgeable, well-connected local!
A friend and I stayed here for a week for a Half IRONMAN event -- in contrast to other friends who stayed in hotels. I think our experience was better in almost every way as we had separate rooms, access to a fully-stocked kitchen and an array of grills outside (seriously!), the ability to do laundry in the unit (this was a massive help), and lots of space to boot. The views truly are gorgeous and the location is fantastic -- walking distance to a great little beach, shopping and restaurants -- as well as a quick drive to everywhere else we needed to be.
The condo was squeaky clean and felt like home immediately. My favorite feature was the outside patio that stretches around from the master bedroom to the living room. So relaxing just to sit outside and see the ocean. While the whole condo is high-end and well-decorated, I especially appreciated the master bed and bath rooms as well as the kitchen.
I can't overstate how amazing Lillian was. Very much appreciate her welcoming us and making our stay that much more enjoyable knowing we had someone local to help us out.
The only downside is that you will not want to leave! Highly recommend!
Great condo, great hosts, great vacation.
- Lillian and Peter are awesome hosts. Great communication, helped a lot planning the trip, and warm people.
- Condo location is fantastic. Waikoloa is right at the entrance of the Saddle road, so you can go to the volcanoes, has the best beaches in the Big Island in a 10 miles radius, and is just a 1 hour drive to the Kohala valleys. Just a 25 min drive to Kona. Great spot. There is 1 beach that is walking distance.
- The condo really feels like home. fully fully equipped, with all comfort details (TVs, audio systems, etc), and even the basic things you need in the kitchen: oil, salt spices, etc. All the basics and more.
- We will be coming back in future trips. Just terrific.
About the Host, Lillian
Born into a military family, I have lived in many different countries and states. I did live in New England for 20 years before finally choosing to live in Hawaii. We would visit the Big Island every year, both for Christmas and summers, for 14 years. We would stay as long as we could, and mourn our departure each time.
