The Space

Double room available near Plaza España (5 minutes walking), Magic Fountains of Montjuic, Park Montjuic and all of its museums, gardens, Olympic Stadium, Fortress and many other sites of interest.

You will have your own double bedroom and may use the whole house (kitchen, living room and shared bathroom). The room has a large closet and interior window which lets in a lot of daylight as we are located on the 8th (10th really, as in Spain the first two floors are not counted). The room has a queen-size bed that comfortably sleeps 2. The apartment is bright and has 2 balconies which let in lots of fresh air and natural light

Near several lines of transport including Barcelona Sants Station, Metro lines 1 and 3, Aerobus (easy transport to the main airport, El Prat), Barcelona City Tour (bus that takes you on a tour of the city's many touristic attractions), and numerous other bus lines.

Walking distance (20 minutes) to La Rambla and the old center of town or a quick trip on the metro ( 3 stops)

Charming early 20th century flat with lots of natural sunlight.
Lovely view of the city and Park Collserola with its emblematic Tibidabo and Church, Temple de Sagrat Cor.

We are also near numerous supermarkets, some of which are open 24 hours a day as well as several bars and restaurants.

  • Mary and Starsky were wonderful hosts. They invited us to watch world cup with them on our first night and were quite welcoming. The room was small but perfect for our needs and had a fan and a wardrobe big enough for our packs. There were other guests who were friendly, quiet, and respectful. We had use of the kitchen and bathroom andthe apartment was located in a wonderful hub of the city right near Plaza Espanya. Starsky gave us a fantastic recommendation for tapas that we were extremely happy with. We got stuck in Barcelona because the train office was closed for a festival. Mary's apartment was fully booked but they were kind enough to let us come back to use the internet to look for other accommodations. When we had trouble, they called a friend of theirs who also does airbnb and set it up for us. It was overall an enjoyable stay and worth the price.

  • Mary and her partner, Starsky, are delightful hosts and shared recommendations of restaurants, transport routes, Barcelona attractions that we should not miss, and a little of their lives in this beautiful and exciting city. Their building and apartment has a lot of old city character. While the bathroom is small there was always plenty of hot water for showers, and only an occasional wait for the room. The Spanish siesta custom rolled daytime into night and it was common for thhe hosts, other guests, and us to arrive back in the Apartment about the same time leading to several lovely late night conversations.

  • Both Mark and Francois were wonderful. We felt at home immediately as they were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. We even used a couple of their suggestions for restaurants and sites around town! Their apartment is also very close to a metro station; we used the metro a lot so this was perfect for us. I would highly recommend staying here.

  • This place is very easy to get to from the airport and close to buses and the metro for getting around Barcelona. Mary was very nice to talk with and I enjoyed talking with her husband about 3D printing. The room was fine and there was a good WIFI signal which I appreciated. I also appreciated the elevator. They have a great view from the living room. The only marginal area is the bathroom as the door is hard to open fully and is missing a lock so privacy is a potential problem.

About
I'm from Portland ,Oregon, USA and I've been living in Barcelona since June 2011. I studied a master's degree in Translation Studies at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) and am currently working as a freelance translator/english teacher. My interests include, hiking, camping, cooking, soccer, dancing, el Camino de Santiago, yoga, running, foreign languages, and of course, world travel. I couldn't pick a favorite place in the world, there are too many wonderful things to see and experience; however, next on my destination list is the Annapurna Circuit Trek in Nepal. Although I'm new to Airbnb, I have lots of experience living with people from all over the world. Previous roommates of mine have come from countries such as China, Nigeria, Kenya, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, Iran and Mexico. Looking forward to meeting more travelers from all over the world! Peace
