Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • We had a company of 6, 3 couples.Ryan was a GREAT host.Waited for us to check in at 11.30PM, got us all comfortable and settled, took is out for a quick snack and only left at around 1.30AM. Next morning, attended to us early, gave us the directions of places to go and more information so that we can plan out the best of our time. He is second to none.
The location of Lai's house is great. If you don't want to go to far, the main street itself has everything from a small supermarket, to McD, 7-E, to small establishments with great udon and soba, home, made by hand. A great place to just relax and chill, sip tea and see what a typical Japanese neighbourhood is all about. Train station is just around the corner which will get you to places of technology, culture, manga and shopping till your hearts content. And all this just 10 mins walk away.
Rooms are large, compared to some of them that we have stayed. Although bathrooms and toilets are shared, but the staff makes sure that they are cleaned everyday. And Ryan chips into the cleaning as well, making sure your stay is comfortable. Make sure you spend him a beer or two for his effort. There is also a very well working kitchen, which is functional in every way, from cooking small meals, to re-heating and very importantly, making coffee and tea.
Overall, the feeling of staying in Lai's House, is really like a home away from home. If you have a company of 10 or 15, I would suggest you get the whole place to yourself and it will really be a home away from home with family or friends.
We are already thinking of coming back to Tokyo, not only for the culture, heritage and the people, but the experience we had with Ryan and his team at Lai's House.
Thank you Ryan, me and my wife wishes you all the best, and keep in touch.

  • I was traveling with a group of 8 friends, and we enjoyed our time at Lai's House Itabashi very much. Although the place was not in a very central location, it was easily accessible by subway, and close to JR lines. Ryan was a very helpful host and was there to show us around and answer our queries. Overall, a lovely stay!

  • Upon reaching, my friend and I were greeted by Ryan himself. An outstanding host who is friendly and helpful. Located in a quiet neighbourhood, Ryan's place is very clean. He provided us with clear directions on places we wanted to go when we were in doubt. Thank you and thumbs up Ryan!

  • The place is a little further from the main areas than I would prefer, but it is close to the subway station so it's not difficult to get where you need to go. I only mention this because the subways stop running around 11 PM, and start again at 5 AM, so either you wait or take a taxi if you do go out.

In respect to the area/apartment, the area was very quiet and clean with a 7-11, and some places to eat right around there.

The apartment itself was also very clean, with the host taking care of meeting you, and helping you out. The apartment is quaint and cozy, although it's also a bit small for what I'm used to (I live in CA), but it is a comfortable and clean place to be in.

    Overall I would recommend it.

  • I can't begin to express how wonderful my 2-night stay was in Tokyo. Though it was short, it was bittersweet all the more because Ryan was a great host. He was very accommodating and gave me some great tips. He even got me information on how to get to Narita airport just in time for my flight back to Seoul, Korea. The next time I come back to Tokyo, I'll definitely stay at this place again. In terms of the space, it's very clean, close to the subways, and in a very quaint neighborhood. I definitely recommend for the first time traveler to Tokyo.
