Zihuatanejo - a tropical retreat
On the Pacific coast between Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta, Zihuatanejo still resembles the sleepy fishing village it was only a few short years ago. Zihuatanejo has friendly people, cobblestone streets, boats at anchor in the harbor, an open air fruit and vegetable market, and sea food restaurants under the palm trees. But for the sophisticated traveler it also has fine shops and gourmet restaurants, all manner of water sports, a vibrant night life, and interesting visitors from around the world. All the ingredients for a memorable vacation.
BUENA VISTA DEL MAR on Madera Beach
Independent travellers often prefer an apartment or condo over a hotel because it offers the opportunity to cook the local foods and meet the local people. With Madera Beach only steps away, BUENA VISTA DEL MAR offers a quiet friendly residential neighborhood and the convenience of a central location (only 10 minutes walk from the center of town and 15 minutes from popular La Ropa Beach). Here it is possible to experience the "real Mexico."
BUENA VISTA DEL MAR'S OWNER, Linda, is a long time Zihua visitor who has realized her dream of having a vacation home here. She lives in the Bay Area, works as a Facilities and Property Consultant, and does tap and salsa dancing for fun! When not in residence, she is delighted to share it with visitors who will appreciate its tranquility and fantastic view.

Nice view, great location and the pool is really great!
We where deceived there was no air conditioning and that it was not really clean when we arrived in the apartment.
Staying at Buena Vista del Mar was overall a pretty great experience. The location is stellar, right on the beach and only a couple minutes walk to downtown, with plenty of great restaurants nearby. Definitely the best part about staying here was the location!
The room was adequate and fairly modest. If you are hoping to save money and cook your own meals, there is a full kitchen.
It was a little confusing as to what type of establishment this is. The building seemed to act as a hotel with tons of rooms, without the amenities. There was a lot of noise, especially late into the night, but we did stay there over New Years, so I'm sure there is bound to be party goers where ever you stay that time of year. Additionally, our room essentially had three walls, with the fourth opening directly to the ocean. While this obviously provided for great views and lots of airflow, the sun is extremely bright an hot, even at 7 am. There were some shutters that could have been opened and closed at night, but the were old, missing lots of slats, and were very difficult to open and close. We even had a bat in the room one night.
Finally, if you are staying for a while, more than four days (we stayed for a week), consider there is no cleaning service. This is not something that would usually matter to me, and something I did not think ahead of time about the necessity of a cleaning service while on a beach vacation. Lots of sand, salt, and ants, and I wished we would have had our towels washed once or twice.
All that being said, it was a pretty good place to stay. We really only were in our room to sleep and the it was definitely worth it for the awesome location and great price.
Linda’s house is perfectly situated for exploring Zihuatanejo. Local friends confirmed this after I’d already started to feel like I was in the perfect spot. The apartment is in walking distance of downtown, the marina area, wonderful restaurants, Playa La Ropa and is just a staircase away from Playa Madera. The apartment is the perfect size for a couple and has a fantastic view. The large open front window is a great spot to sit and look out over the water and allows the sound of the ocean in. Everything was comfortable and clean and it felt like home. We loved working with Linda and staying at her place and hope to come back and visit!
Our time at Buena Vista del Mar couldn't have been better. The apartment is airy with a wonderful view, and everything you could need. Well located in easy walking distance of central market and other beaches, with the curvy la Madeira oceanside walkway. Thanks for having us!
We had a great time in this flat. The view is spectacular and you can hear the waves thanks to a huge open window! The appliances are useful (the kitchen is great to prepare seafood bought at the local market or directly to the fishermen on the beach early in the morning). The bed is comfy and the bathroom spacious.
