Squeezed between the similarly charming (and high-ranking) neighborhoods of Carroll Gardens and Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill offers the best of both of those worlds. Smith and Court Streets are among the most interesting and diverse retail corridors in the city, and the housing stock is superb, with beautiful and well-maintained nineteenth-century homes and plenty of modern amenities. Popular restaurants include Frankies 457, Buttermilk Channel, Prime Meats, Char No. 4, Cafe LuLuc, The Grocery, and Cafe Cubana, among many others.
Some wonderful food markets include Union Market (gourmet), Trader Joe's, Pacific Green, Park Natural Foods. In addition, on Sundays, there is a wonderful outdoor farmer's market just 2 blocks away.
The F and G trains are 1 block away, and a 10 minute walk will take you to the A, C, N, R, 2, 3, 4 and 5 trains. In addition, there is a public city bus that stops on our corner.
We're on a quiet tree-lined block, and you'll have a great deal of peace, quiet and privacy in our downstairs quarters. You'll have access to our beautiful garden - an oasis in the heart of Brooklyn!
No smoking, no pets.
Our experience on Sackett Street with the Flatows was good. We like the location and the accommodations are very comfortable.
Great place to stay in an adorable Brooklyn neighborhood. It's conveniently located 2 blocks from the subway, so you have access to all of NYC by train, but the benefit of being in a quiet oasis in Cobble Hill. The place is on a cute tree lined street, located in the basement of a brownstone. The apartment is spacious and cozy, all amenities were great, and having Paul and his wife there was a really nice touch. They were super responsive and so kind, offering recommendations in the neighborhood and answering any questions.
Wonderful spot in a great Brooklyn neighborhood! The apartment was clean, comfortable and convenient to everything we wanted. Paul and Debra were welcoming and flexible in working with us. Enjoyed our stay very much and hope to be back!
Paul and his wife hosted our mother in law and she said everything was great! They were communicative and would recommend again.
Debra and Paul made us feel welcome when we arrived and for our entire stay. The accommodations were exactly what we expected - very clean and roomy with a great location - close to many places to eat/drink/shop. We'd go back. We walked to the 911 memorial with no problem. Highly recommend.
Paul & Debra were lovely and so is the space. The entire basement is the Bnb and is much larger than many NYC apartments, or expensive hotel rooms in midtown for that matter. It's a great neighborhood with many, many restaurants and bars. Now with the completion of Brooklyn Bridge Park, there is almost no need to head into NYC, but very convenient if you are. I'm planning to take my teenage girls back with me next time because with the 2 bedrooms, there is plenty of space for three.
Paul and Debra were great hosts.
They made us feel very welcome and went out of their way to accommodate us. Boerum/Cobble Hill is a great neighborhood with a wide variety of restaurants, bars and shops and has quick access to Manhattan via the subway. The apartment itself is very spacious, clean, very comfortable and quiet.
I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone planning on visiting New York and thanks again to Paul and Debra for being great hosts.
I'm a Brooklyn-born horticultural designer, living with my wife of 37 years, bouncing back and forth between NYC and the Catskill mountains. Love fishing, books, travel, gardening and cooking. Happy to meet new people from all over the world.
