The Space

The Location: Central & Charming…

Our gem of a studio is located in the very historical heart and center of Paris, LE MARAIS, in the 4th district, 2 minutes away by foot from Hôtel de Ville - City Hall (280 meters exactly) and also walking distance from world-renowned museums (Carnavalet, Beaubourg-Pompidou, Louvre, Picasso, Cognac-Jay), fashionable and trendy shops of every type, markets, theaters, cinemas & monuments, top restaurants & bars, hype art galleries, fashion houses and workshops, etc.
It’s also less than 15 minutes away on foot from La Place des Vosges, Cathedral of Notre-Dame, Le Quartier Latin, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Île de la Cîté, Bastille, and Saint-Louis Island… Five underground stations (10 minutes) away from Concorde and Madeleine, seven stations (15 minutes) away from Champs-Elysées and nine stations (20 minutes) away from Arc de Triomphe.
As you will experience, Paris’ center is not that huge and every interesting place hopefully not far away from another, hence the importance of location because you don’t want to waste your time inside the public transports !

In the neighborhood of Le Marais itself anyway, a lot of streets around are pedestrian or almost pedestrian areas, which is a rare and truly enjoying experience in Paris.
Le Marais is certainly the most typical neighborhood in Paris, embodied in a lifestyle and a life-quality you won’t be able to experience in other parts of the city. It actually feels like a village with also every advantage you wish to have in the center of an metropolitan area in terms of culture, food and entertainment. Centuries of history and architecture will surround you, as Le Marais indeed shows, among many, many other things, a vast number of superb “ Hôtels Particuliers “ (former Paris’ nobility residences in Middle-Age and Renaissance), each one more beautiful and majestic than each other.
The street where the studio is located, Rue du Bourg-Tibourg is a perfect example of “Le Vieux Paris” (old-time Paris) since it goes back to the 13th century (1220 to be exact !) according to the earliest documents mentioning it.
La Rue du Bourg-Tibourg is tiny, narrow and very quiet, almost never used by cars and nevertheless full of shops and boutiques. It leads to a most delightful pedestrian place where bars and restaurants with terraces will leave you with almost too much choice…
Another very interesting fact: a lot of shops here in Le Marais are open on Sundays, another Parisian rarity.

Access & transports: you will also have immediate access to the Underground through line number 1 (the yellow one), station Hôtel de Ville and close access to lines number 4, 5, 6, 7, and 14, plus train lines RER A, B and D.
Not to mention buses, since it’s to me a far more pleasant way to discover Paris (even if slower and less efficient): lines number (phone number hidden) are very close, as are rental bikes stations “Vélib’”.

The Apartment: New & Old-Time Styled, Efficient & Design-Cosy

Completely renovated one-room apartment of 15 sqm. (actually renewed and furnished in September 2012), modern & industrial design decorated with typical old wood beam ceilings and hardwood floors, very quiet & bright.
So, long story short: everything is new here ! We also tried to find the ideal balance between old-time real estate style and modernity, between ancient Paris touches and contemporary amenities. It will be up to you to experience it and see if we managed to do it !
The window opens on a very silent courtyard populated by tweeting birds (sparrows actually), which is almost impossible to find in Paris. You will also be able to enjoy the view on Beaubourg-Pompidou Museum and a Church's roofs…
Situated on the 5th floor of a textbook Le Marais old building and antic street with 24/7 secure access, it will allow you to experience and enjoy the Paris’ center way of life ! Dream place for anyone who wants to have a great time in the City of Light…

The studio consists of:

- a nice living-room with top quality sofa bed of modern design (140 cm large with HQ bed base and mattress), 170 channels and 42 inches (107 cm) flat screen LCD TV, dinette table (easily mobile, on rollers), a large wardrobe, of course free Internet Wi-Fi access & “high-tech-latest-fashion” heating system (very efficient as a matter of fact…)

- a fully equipped and furnished kitchenette including fridge (with freezer compartment), electrical stove, ventilator, microwave, sink, cupboards, electrical kettle (1.5 liter), Nespresso coffee machine, and of course any dishes and cutlery you may need

- a bathroom (closing with a sliding door) including shower, washbasin, storage, hairdryer, iron and WC

Important: the household linen is of course provided for the whole rental period (sheets, duvet, towels...) and like everything else already included in the price per night.

2-nights stays are sometimes possible, please ask us !

Avoid Touristic Mainstream With Our Guide Book…

I am quite a good food and fine wine geek and addict, I have to admit… Coming and staying in Paris even for a few days and not behaving like a true Gourmet would be as senseless as not to visit Le Louvre Museum !
Gastronomy and quality food must be part of the package here .
So I took time here to list and share my best addresses in Paris: restaurants (great bargains and legitimately prestigious places), bakeries, pastries, caterers, wine shops, groceries, etc. Also listed are a few culture and entertainment spots I estimate really worthy of your interest and unfortunately not that famous…
I hope, in fact I’m sure you will enjoy it ! Those are mostly “non-touristic” addresses, too often kept by the Parisians for themselves. You’ll have here direct access to them with Guide Book option, so just have fun !

Any question left ? Don't hesitate to ask !
Any remaining hesitation :-) ? Just read our guests' reviews !

A bientôt à Paris !

  • Thank you for a perfect stay in your little gem in Paris! Not only was our late check in (23:15) accommodated, we were greeted with a big smile by Mina and left with many many maps and tour guides of Paris for our 4-day stay! :) The flat is very central and we reached almost everything we wanted to see and do by foot - the area is lovely with many bars, restaurants and shops right in front of the doorstep! for 2 friends or a couple wanting to explore Paris, this flat is perfectly situated and the hosts more than friendly and accommodating! if you want to spend a lot of time in the flat itself, it might get a bit small, but i assume that is not the case in Paris! :) i will certainly stay here again if i return to paris - especially to try more of the insider tips provided by Romain for us to indulge in! THANK YOU, VIELEN DANK and MERCI BEAUCOUP!

  • Such an amazing place to stay, and yes five flights but worth it, clean, perfect space and close to supermarket, bakery, restaurants, post office, metro, bus stop, taxi stand, and if you're like us the walk to Eiffel Tower was well worth the photo opportunities in between, Mina was so helpful, Romain keeps you easily informed, we had train delays arriving from Germany, but this was treated with ease, Mina was there waiting even though we were 5 hours delayed. Don't hesitate book this studio. You will NOT regret it, aaah Paris I miss you already!

  • We didn't manage to meet Romain in person but lovely Mina met and briefed us about apartment.

Perfect location - tonnes of restaurants/cafes/bars/shops/bakery/pierre herme in the vicinity. There's a supermart opposite the apartment!

Accessibility - Hotel de Ville station is right by the corner. Be sure to check out St. Germain too! Walking distance to Notre Dame, Louvre, Seine River.

Apartment is a little small but it has everything you need - fridge, kitchenette, wifi, heater, hair dryer etc. We were prepared for the 5 storeys climb and it got easier every passing day - a good workout. ;)

Many thanks for accommodating our early check-in, super early check-out and everything else Romain!

  • This apartment was located so perfectly. So many charming restaurants just steps away, walking distance to Notre Dame, very close to the metro which provides easy access to all popular sights. Place was very clean but a little tight which is expected for Paris. My advice is pack lightly because carrying luggage up five floors of narrow steps is not easy. The host was very proactive in ensuring we didn't have to wait.

  • Amazing apartment, small but practical and amazingly located. Romain sent us useful info about Paris and his friend Mina was there to greet us and explain us everything. We had a great experience and we hope to return.

  • Perfect stay!

  • place is almost exactly as it looks in the picture, the host is great and met some of my personal requests. The location was fantastic, however there was some construction during the weekdays early (7am) which was not pleasant.

  • This apartment is in a fantastic location right in the heart of Paris. Very easy to find your way around to all the points of interest, train station, shops , bars and restaurants. The apartment is fine for a short stay. It has a combined lounge/bedroom /kitchenette and a separate bathroom. There is a sofa bed and wardrobe. The kitchen has a hot plate, microwave, fridge and sink. Upon our arrival we where meet by Mina the caretaker who showed us the ropes and gave us some general information to help us get around. The only thing that MAY prove to be a problem for some people is the apartment is on the 5th floor. It certainly keeps you fit climbing up and down the stairs!

  • We really enjoyed our stay in this small studio apartment. The apartment is very clean, and it had everything that we needed for our stay, linen, dishes, and internet connection. The location is AMAZING!!!!

The only reason I gave 4 our 5 starts is that the apartment below is going through some renovations (April 2014) and there was a lot of construction noise early in the morning. I would prefer to know this in advance. But it was a minor minor inconvenience.

  • I had a fantastic time in Paris. The location of this studio was perfect for exploring. There is so much to see that is just in walking distance. The studio works perfectly for 1 or 2 people.

In SHORT: Wine & food geek, rugby addict & Le Marais freak :-D ! My words: "Winter Is Coming and you'd better be in Paris to live through it..." In LONG :-)... A true Paris' born and lover, I'm proud to share my admiration for the city of lights with our guests ... I grew up here, studied here and now work here and hopefully I will continue for many years to come ! I fell in love with Le Marais, our studio's neighbourhood, quite a long time ago and I'm convinced that everybody would, once they will be here... THIS is THE true Paris as you will see !!! Also quite a restaurant and fine wines addict and sometimes too much for my bank account :-D, I will here share my foodie adress book with you by using AirBnB GuideBook option to help you to survive in Paris' food jungle and that's avoiding the unfortunately numerous bad & ugly places, simply by going to the good ones ! Paris is a quite big and anyway your stay will be too short to allow mediocrity or half-amazing spots: I'll therefore be happy to help you to avoid the mainstream if you wish and to discover hidden gems or less (unfairly) renowned places !
